The coupled-cavity lasers show a larger lasing e^ciency and generate an output power higher than the single-cavity lasers, results that are consistent with the theoretical results obtained by rate equations. In dynamic regime, the single-cavity lasers produce pulses as short as 113 ps, while the coupled-cavity lasers show a significantly longer lasing duration. These results indicate that the photonic crystal laser is a promising candidate for the light source in high-speed photonic integrated circuit.展开更多

The dig- ital mieromirror-deviee (DMD) processor can select and reeirculate any dual waveband from the gain spectrum of the erbium-doped fiber at each channel. The uniform and stable dual-wavelength oscillation is obtained by a highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber, which causes two degenerate the four-wave-mixing processes. By loading different reproducibility diffraction gratings on the optoelectronic DMD processor, the laser can be operated stably in a three-channel dual-wavelength scheme at room temperature. The power fluctuation of each laser channel is less than -0.02 dB.展开更多

The device is fabricated on a simple commercial wafer without the distributed Bragg reflector and it needs no wafer bonding. It exhibits a side mode suppression ratio of 23.0 d B and a high output power of 5.32 m W at 1552.44 nm. The specific single mode lasing agrees well with the band edge mode calculation of the grating. In 3D simulation, we observe obvious light output from the grating.展开更多
