In this article the author asserts that understanding the rise of political Islam at the world＇s stage and IR generally can be genealogically traced to two interrelated developments： the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood （MB） in Egypt since 1928 as a social and political movement against the growing Western influence in the Islamic World after the collapse of the ottoman empire; and the development of the post-World War II IR theories, and practices which provided the basis of the political, military, and security doctrines of the United States and its allies which proved its lack of reliability and validity, particularly as related to the Muslim World, and the role of religion within the Muslim states and place of religion in global politics.展开更多

It presents pontifical documents, statements, and speeches dedicated to this issue as ...This paper is devoted to intercultural dialogue from the point of view of Pope Benedict XVI （pontificate between 2005 and 2013）. It presents pontifical documents, statements, and speeches dedicated to this issue as well as the conclusions resulting from them. The aim of the paper is to prove that intercultural dialogue and interreligious dialogue are within the context of a new scientific discipline--political science of religion--which deals with the issues of relations between the sphere of religion and the sphere of politics. Intercultural dialogue is tightly connected to interreligious dialogue. Interreligious and intercultural dialogue allows to create the world based on brotherhood and reconciliation. They are the foundation of the future, an effective tool to build a civilization of love and they are born out of God＇s mercy.展开更多
Western and Islamic societies suffer from a common ailment-their citizens are losing trust in the basic integrity of their political institutions.There is a growing sense that systematic injustices are the core reason...Western and Islamic societies suffer from a common ailment-their citizens are losing trust in the basic integrity of their political institutions.There is a growing sense that systematic injustices are the core reasons behind economic,political and social crises.The result is a global decline of political authority.Embattled liberals in the West and the Islamic world want to bolster struggling democracies,new and old.Both groups see religion as indispensable in coping with chronic crises of legitimacy.Western liberalism’s sense of vulnerability is paving the way for a rediscovery of Islamic Modernism.Western liberals hope that open-minded Muslims can help them combat fundamentalisms of all stripes,including extremist tendencies surging in America and Europe.Today’s Islamic Modernists comprise an influential network of writers,interest groups and activists that can be valuable allies in transnational struggles for democracy and religious tolerance.展开更多
