Positive Q-Value Neutron Transfer Mediated Sub-Barrier Fusion Reactions

Positive Q-value neutron transfer mediated sub-barrier fusion reactions are studied with an empirical coupled channels model, which takes into account neutron rearrangement related only to the dynamical matching condition with no free parameters. Fusion cross sections of collision systems ^32S＋^90,94,96Zr are calculated and analyzed. Logarithmic residual enhancement （LRE） is proposed to evaluate the discrepancy between calculated results and experimental data. The experimental data can be described well with this model for the first time as a whole, while the LRE analysis shows that there are still theoretical systematic deviations.

A Survey on Negative Transfer

Transfer learning(TL)utilizes data or knowledge from one or more source domains to facilitate learning in a target domain.It is particularly useful when the target domain has very few or no labeled data,due to annotation expense,privacy concerns,etc.Unfortunately,the effectiveness of TL is not always guaranteed.Negative transfer(NT),i.e.,leveraging source domain data/knowledge undesirably reduces learning performance in the target domain,and has been a long-standing and challenging problem in TL.Various approaches have been proposed in the literature to address this issue.However,there does not exist a systematic survey.This paper fills this gap,by first introducing the definition of NT and its causes,and reviewing over fifty representative approaches for overcoming NT,which fall into three categories:domain similarity estimation,safe transfer,and NT mitigation.Many areas,including computer vision,bioinformatics,natural language processing,recommender systems,and robotics,that use NT mitigation strategies to facilitate positive transfers,are also reviewed.Finally,we give guidelines on NT task construction and baseline algorithms,benchmark existing TL and NT mitigation approaches on three NT-specific datasets,and point out challenges and future research directions.To ensure reproducibility,our code is publicized at https://github.com/chamwen/NT-Benchmark.

A Discussion on Dealing With Chinese Transfer in English Teaching

Native language transfer is a common phenomenon in foreign language learning and is all the time influencing the learners＇ language. As to us English teachers in China, how to use or avoid the Chinese transfer in students＇ English learning is an issue we need to further explore. The paper, based on the theory of SLA （second language acquisition） and language transfer, discusses this phenomenon, analyzes the factors that cause the transfer, and puts forward some suggestions to deal with the influence of transfer in teaching English as a foreign language Contrastive analysis, with examples, is employed to find the similarities and difficulties in students＇ learning Some of the difficulties can be predicted and positive transfer indeed plays a positive role in language acquisition.

Chinese Transfer in English Grammar Teaching

Chinese transfer plays an important role in the teaching and learning of English grammar. Though there are many differences between English and Chinese, many rules are shared by English and Chinese, especially in terms of grammar. Therefore, in teaching of English grammar, proper use of transfer of Chinese grammar may help the learners learn English. This paper introduces Chinese positive transfer and negative transfer in learning English grammar, and discusses how to make use of Chinese transfer to improve English teaching.

The Influence of First Language Transfer on Second Language Acquisition

Language transfer plays a great role in second language acquisition process.As for the Chinese English learners,it is im⁃portant for them to know the positive and negative transfer of Chinese to English.Understanding the concepts of transfer and lan⁃guage transfer and the differences and similarities of mother language and target language may promote the acquisition of second language.According to the analysis of positive transfer and negative transfer,some learning strategies and pedagogical implications were made for second language learners.

The comparison between traditional Chinese literacy strategies and English vocabulary strategies

There is a positive transfer from native language vocabulary learning strategy to that of the second language. The comparison between them shows that the traditional Chinese character learning strategies have profound effect on English vocabulary learning on the basis of morphology, lexicon as well as discourse categories. If the mutual effect can be applied in English vocabulary learning effectively, positive transfer emerges.

Exploration of teaching English to Korean-Chinese bilinguals

Since Korean ethnics in China learn English on the basis of two languages and two cultures, there is dual transfer of Korean-Chinese when they learn English. They can make good use of two language systems and dual positive transfer, and make English-Korean and English-Chinese comparative analysis in the basic stages of English learning.

Influence of Chinese Pinyin on Phonics Instruction in Primary School English Classrooms

Phonics is designed to develop students’skills in decoding written words and spelling words they hear by creating connections between letters and their corresponding sounds.The structure and pronunciation of certain elements in Chinese Pinyin bear resemblance to those of specific letters and letter combinations in English.Consequently,it is hypothesized that for young learners of English in China,their familiarity with Chinese Pinyin could potentially enhance their learning of English as a second language(ESL),and educators might utilize Pinyin in teaching phonics.This study aimed to explore the extent and manner in which Pinyin influences phonics.By examining the performance of young learners in phonics acquisition,the study revealed that Chinese Pinyin has a significant impact on phonics,which is more intricate than initially anticipated.Positive transfer is observed when the Pinyin initials correspond to English consonants in both form and sound.Conversely,negative transfer occurs with most vowels,which differ significantly from the final sounds in pronunciation.These findings offer valuable insights for phonics instruction,potentially aiding in the improvement of pronunciation and vocabulary acquisition.

Self-consistent analysis of sub-barrier fusion enhancement effect in Ca+Ca and Ni+Ni

The fusion dynamic mechanism of heavy ions at energies near the Coulomb barrier is complicated and still not very clear up to now. Accordingly, a self-consistent method based on the CCFULL calculations has been developed and applied for an ongoing study of the effect of the positive Q-value neutron transfer （PQNT） channels in this work. The typical experimental fusion data of Ca ＋ Ca and Ni ＋ Ni is analyzed within the unified calculation scheme. The PQNT effect in near-barrier fusion is further confirmed based on the self-consistent analysis and extracted quantitatively.
