Arterial Hypertension-Related Factors within Custodial Settings of Southern Benin in 2023

Introduction: Hypertension, a non-communicable disease, is a major public health threat worldwide, accounting for a high level of morbidity and mortality. Although it has been extensively published among the general population, further research is needed to understand the reality of hypertension within the custodial setting. This study aimed to investigate the factors associated with arterial hypertension in custodial settings in southern Benin in 2023. Methods: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive, analytical study held in prisons in southern Benin from March to April 2023, involving inmates selected by two-stage random sampling. In the first stage, four prisons out of the six in the southern region of Benin were selected by simple random sampling. In the second stage, the prisoners were selected by systematic random sampling, with the sampling frame being the numbered list of eligible prisoners in each prison selected. Data collected by observation and questionnaire survey were analyzed using Stata 11 software. Hypertension was defined as systolic blood pressure ≥ 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90 mmHg. Overweight was defined by a body mass index (weight/height2 (kg/m2) ≥ 25. Factors associated with hypertension were identified by multiple logistic regression, at a 5% threshold of significance. Results: Altogether 336 inmates aged 37.55 ± 1.72 years were surveyed. The prevalence of hypertension in custodial settings in southern Benin in 2023 was 31.32% (95% CI [17.06;52.57]). Associated factors were inmate age (ORa = 3.36 95% CI: [1.94;5.85]) and abnormal waist circumference (ORa = 2.61 95% CI [1.27;5.40]). Conclusion: The prevalence of arterial hypertension in prisons of southern Benin (31.32%) is high when compared with the national average (25.9% (22.5-29.3)). The ministries of the Interior and Health need to collaborate to involve inmates in preventive strategies for non-communicable diseases, including hypertension.

Exploration of the Cultivation Path of Vocational Values for Post-2000 Vocational College Students in the Context of the New Era

Career values are the specific manifestations of life goals and attitudes in career choices.In the context of the new era,post-2000 vocational college students exhibit characteristics such as diversified and personalized career values,economic value preferences in career choices,and a disconnect between career aspirations and reality.Based on this,this article proposes that the cultivation of vocational values for post-2000 vocational college students includes five aspects:education on socialist core values,education on career development and professional qualities,cultivation of professional spirit,education on the connotation and extension of vocational values,and education on network culture and vocational values.The cultivation path should focus on combining theoretical education with practical experience,creating campus culture and professional atmosphere,personalizing career guidance and career planning,cultivating social responsibility and craftsmanship spirit,etc.,in order to meet the demand of society for high-quality technical and skilled talents and provide strong talent support for social and economic development.

脱离监护之侵权的认定及责任

将监护定位于职责或权利,监护关系的外部效力都具有绝对性,对其侵犯需适用《民法典》侵权责任编规则。侵权人包括令被监护人从监护状态中脱离的行为人,以及延续其脱离状态的收买人等在后行为人。即便其他行为也可能延续被监护人脱离监护的状态,这一假设原因也不减免在后行为人的损害赔偿责任。无过失的受托监护人并非侵权人。除监护人的身份利益之外,脱离监护关系同时有损被监护人的人格利益,因此被亲生父母出卖的子女可主张侵害人格权的损害赔偿。脱离监护型侵权的损害赔偿范围包括被监护人成年后持续产生的损害,损害赔偿请求权适用普通诉讼时效。精神损害赔偿请求权的主体不应限于父母和其他近亲属,非近亲属监护人等也可主张。

Poverty reduction within the framework of SDGs and Post-2015 Development Agenda

The eradication of poverty is one of the largest global challenges facing the world. This article examines poverty reduction goals within the framework of Post-2015 Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). It also discusses the relationship between poverty reduction and sustainable development. Poverty reduction and sustainable development are inseparable and poverty reduction is the premise for sustainable development. Furthermore, several key bones of contention on the role of poverty reduction and sustainable development and implications of Post-2015 Development Agenda are also discussed. It concludes that to end poverty and inequality should continuously be given top priority for the Chinese government, because poverty reduction is China's soft power. Meanwhile, new ways of poverty alleviation should be explored and government should make great efforts to create a new partnership for poverty reduction and development.

Long-Term Poverty Reduction Strategies in China Post-2020

Poverty reduction is an eternal theme in the modernization drive of countries.After 2020,China’s poverty reduction endeavors will face new challenges and shift towards:(i)elevating poverty standards,(ii)placing equal emphasis on rural and urban poverty,(iii)preventing people in the deeply poor regions from slipping back to poverty,(iv)combining external assistance with endogenous development,and(v)enhancing social protection and targeted fiscal support for aiding the poor.Following the new trends of poverty reduction,policymakers should update their strategic approach,adopt new poverty reduction standards,target at a broader group of poor groups,promote pro-poor development,and improve poverty governance.Lastly,this paper puts forward the following policy recommendations for reducing poverty in China post-2020:(i)maintaining policy continuity and stability during the transition period;(ii)creating regular poverty relief mechanisms for urban and rural residents;(iii)improving the targeted identification and dynamic adjustment of target groups for poverty reduction;and(iv)reducing poverty through social protection and development.

Routing in Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN)<br>—Improved Routing with MaxProp and the Model of “Transfer by Delegation” (Custody Transfer)

In this paper, we address the problem of routing in delay tolerant networks (DTN). In such networks there is no guarantee of finding a complete communication path connecting the source and destination at any time, especially when the destination is not in the same region as the source, which makes traditional routing protocols inefficient in that transmission of the messages between nodes. We propose to combine the routing protocol MaxProp and the model of “transfer by delegation” (custody transfer) to improve the routing in DTN networks and to exploit nodes as common carriers of messages between the network partitioned. To implement this approach and assess those improvements and changes we developed a DTN simulator. Simulation examples are illustrated in the article.

Extraction and Supervision of Data of Chain of Custody in Computer Forensics

Does serotonin reuptake inhibitor therapy increase the risk of post-sphincterotomy bleeding in patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography?

To evaluate the risk of immediate and delayed bleeding following sphincterotomy procedure. METHODSThis retrospective cohort study was conducted with all patients who underwent endoscopic sphincterotomy during January 2006 to September 2015 at a tertiary academic center. Patients were grouped according to pre procedural usage of serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SRIs). Both groups were matched for demographic and clinical characteristics. Patients with thrombocytopenia, increased international normalized ratio, or a history of bleeding or coagulation disorders, concurrent use of other antiplatelet/anticoagulants were excluded from the study. RESULTSA total of 447 patients were included, of which 219 (45.9%) used SRIs and 228 (54.1%) cases did not. There was no significant difference in acute or delayed bleeding during endoscopic sphincterotomy between the two groups. (8.2% vs 12.3%, P = 0.16). CONCLUSIONThe use of SRIs was not associated with an increased risk of post-sphincterotomy bleeding. To our best knowledge, this is the first study to explore this association.

The Asian Dimension Reflection of Hofstede’s Cultural Theory—Based on the Consumption Cognitive Characteristics of Chinese Post-90s College Students

This article is based on Hofstede’s cultural theory,taking the post-90s college students as the research object,and through a small-scale survey method,uses the cultural conflicts of the post-90s college students’cognition of“frugality”and“consumption”to explore the characteristics of their consumption outlook.The consumption behavior of post-90s college students presents a diversified structure,lacks planning,and has short-term orientation tendencies such as light luxury and impulsive consumption.At the same time,it displays an obvious living within its means and a wait-and-see attitude towards advanced consumption,focusing on the long-term orientation of its own investment in the future.The Confucian cultural characteristics of the contradictory but complementary consumption outlook of college students born in the 1990s provide Hofstede with a new perspective beyond the long-term and short-term dualistic orientation.

Compromise and Change: Reconsideration on the Custody of Infants Act of 1839

The United Kingdom’s Custody of Infants Act of 1839 is generally regarded as a signature instrument for women to gain guardianship of a child, and widely considered a product of the equal rights movement launched by women in England. It has played an important role in promoting women’s equal rights and breaking patriarchal absolutism. However, there was much compromise in the legal basis for the legislation and the legal provisions, resulting in debates on the legislation that have greatly diluted the revolutionary significance of the Act. Starting with the Marxist argument on bourgeois family legislation, this paper analyzes the legislative and judicial practice of guardianship of minors before and after the promulgation of the Act in the United Kingdom. In view of its impact on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, this paper attempts to re-evaluate the historical status of this act.

Research on the Post-90s Patriotism Education under the General Background of Globalization

In this paper, we conduct research on the post-90s patriotism education under the general background of globalization. Patriotism refl ected the people’s deep feelings about their motherland, refl ects the personal to the dependence of the motherland, it is people for their homeland, racial and the cultural sense of belonging, identity, dignity and honor. It is a moral requirement of regulating the relationship between individuals and the motherland, the principle of political and legal norms, also is the core of the national spirit. Love the motherland’s great rivers as love oneself of the same fl esh and blood, love, brilliant culture of the basic motherland that love his own country constitutes the basic requirements of patriotism. Under this background, we propose our novel perspectives on post-90s patriotism education under the general background of globalization which is meaningful.

The Two-Step Procedure： Using Gaming Insights to Improve Custody Evaluation Risk Assessment

Some children are maltreated and societies must protect them. This is done either at child protective services or when parents litigate over child custody, living, or visitation. Custody disputes provide difficult challenges for custody evaluators, particularly because information is often insufficient for high-precision decision-making. These challenges are present in both risk assessments （RAs） and investigations for the children＇s best interest （ICBIs）. Insights from gaming and signal-detection theory show that thinking several steps ahead leads to statistical advantage which improves decision-making in game play. The purpose of the present study is to show that gaming advantages can be used to improve RAs in custody disputes. The two-step procedure is organized as： （1） defining RAs and ICBIs as two sets with intersection; and （2） completing RAs before initiating ICBIs and using liberal RA decision-making criteria. Formal analysis and mathematical example show that the two-step procedure reduces the total number of RA errors by about 50 percent and suggest that gaming finesses are transferrable to custody disputes. Furthermore, should the two-step procedure be implemented, children are potentially protected from maltreatment post litigation. Implementation issues of the two-step procedure are discussed.

Hailed as“the greatest living novelist in the British Isles”,McEwan’s novel Saturday,published in 2005,is set in the cosmopolitan city of London.The story takes place on February 15,2003,when Europe is still covered by the haze of September 11.The London described by McEwan is full of fear of terrorist attacks.The city is in chaos and disorder,and emptiness and alienation are filled in the hearts of London citizens.This paper attempts to analyze the post-9/11 London cityscape in this novel,and to analyze the social status quo of London under McEwan’s description,so as to further interpret the social deformity and spiritual wastage in the novel.

In Her Mother’s House:Mother-Daughter Dissonance in Post-1990s Chinese American Fiction

This paper attempts to examine the trope of“home”and the depiction of mother-daughter dissonance“in her mother’s house”in post-1990s Chinese American fiction.The research selects four novels in the case study and focuses on how mother-daughter dissonance“in her mother’s house”is presented,what cultural connotations the trope of“home”carries and how they are affected by such extra-contextual factors as racism,sexism and classism.In comparison with two representative mother-daughter narrative works in pre-1990s period,the new characteristics and connotations of“home”in mother-daughter dissonance in post-1990s Chinese American fiction are revealed.

从工具法到保障法:刑事诉讼法的功能转型

《刑事诉讼法》的制定和历次修改都是统一历史进程的一部分,应当从历史发展中寻找修改的方向。刑事诉讼法曾经被视为阶级斗争的“刀把子”和打击犯罪的工具,程序规则的构建也以专门机关办案为中心,个体行使权利的空间十分有限。以“尊重和保障人权”入法为标志,刑事诉讼法的功能发生转型,日益成为权利保障法。但迄今为止,这种转型尚未完成,刑事诉讼法中仍遗留不少以“刀把子”思维为底层逻辑的制度。在本轮刑事诉讼法修改中,应当依据权利保障法的定位对这样的制度进行识别并加以改革。
