Intrinsic optical changes that follow infundibular stalk stimulation of the neurointermediate lobe of the mouse pituitary gland exhibit three different phases that reflect three distinct physiological events.The first...Intrinsic optical changes that follow infundibular stalk stimulation of the neurointermediate lobe of the mouse pituitary gland exhibit three different phases that reflect three distinct physiological events.The first(E-wave)is the rapid light-scattering increase that is associated with a nerve terminal volume increase(mechanical spike),and that accompanies excitation of the neurohy-pophysial terminals by the invading action potential;the second(S-wave)is the slower light-scattering decrease that is tightly corelated with the secretion of the peptide hormones oxytocin and arginine vasopressin,and the third is the long duration response(R-wave)that reflects cell volume changes in the pars interrmedia.We have studied the E-wave and the S-wave in earlier publications.The R-wave,considered here,is sensitive to chloride replacement as wel as to blockade of chloride channels.By blocking GABAA reeptors(which are ligand gated chloride channels)with pharrmacological agents,and by applying GABA directly into the bathing solution,or evoking its release from GABAergic inputs,we have demonstrated that this long-duration optical response is sensitive to chloride movements and reflects GABA-induced changes in the intrinsic optical propertis of the pars intermedia.The full time course of this optical response takes mimutes and,therefore,has to embody some other process(or processes)related to the restoration of resting physiological chloride concentrations,following the opening and closing of GABA A-reeptor channels.Here we demonstrate that the shape of the R wave,the longlasting light-scattering signal,is indeed affected by the activity of GAT1,one of the sodium-and.chloridedependent GA BA transporters.展开更多

To research the regulatoin of the content of malondialdehyde by Siqi decoction, an index of lipid peroxidation, via increasing activity of superoxide dismutase in blood serum of rats with Myocardial Ischemia, the model of myocardium ischemia was made in Wistar rats with posterior pituitary injection through vein in tail. Siqi decoction, Diaoxinxuekang(DK) and Fufangdanshenpian(FD), the latter two drugs of which are effective TCM drugs of anti-myocardial ischemia at present, were administrated to the rats with myocardium ischemia for 5 days to compare the effect of them on myocardium ischemia as reference drugs via measuring the changes of the content of malondialdehyde and the activity of superoxide dismutase in the rat blood serum with myocardial ischemia. There were a remarkable increase in the activity of superoxide dismutase and a decrease in the content of malondialdehyde in the serum of the rats administered Siqi decoction compared with those of the rats in control group, p〈0.05. The contents of MDA in the serum of the prevention group rats in the experiments are lower than those of the cure group rats. Background:Pituicytoma is an extremely rare low-grade glial tumor that is closely related to the neurohypophysis axis.Most studies of pituicytomas include only several cases.To better understand this disease,we review...Background:Pituicytoma is an extremely rare low-grade glial tumor that is closely related to the neurohypophysis axis.Most studies of pituicytomas include only several cases.To better understand this disease,we reviewed a series of cases of pituicytomas.The diagnosis and treatment of pituicytoma must be further elucidated.Methods:Eleven patients with pituicytoma admitted to Beijing Tiantan Hospital from 2012 to 2019 were selected.The clinical features,including radiological and histological examination,surgical records and prognosis were reviewed.Sixty-eight other previously published cases of pituicytoma also were used to analyze the predictive factors for the results.The Cox regression model was used for univariate and multivariate analyses.Results:Our patients included 5 males(45.5%)and 6 females(54.5%),with a mean age of 49.3 years.The tumor was located in the suprasellar region in 5 patients(45.5%),intrasellar region in 4 patients(36.4%),and intrasellarsuprasellar region in 2 patients(18.2%).All patients were misdiagnosed with other common tumors in the sellar region before the operation.During the operation,gross total resection(GTR)of the tumor was achieved in 6 patients(54.5%),and subtotal resection(STR)was achieved in 5 patients(45.5%).The mean progression-free survival(PFS)time was 29.82 months.Tumor progression after surgical resection occurred in 4 patients(36.4%).Among them,60.0%of the patients(cases 4,5,7)with STR experienced progression,while 16.7%of the patients(case 2)with GTR experienced progression.Combined with the 68 cases in the literature,GTR was an independent risk factor for PFS time(P<0.05).Conclusions:Pituicytomas are more common in middle-aged people and the sellar region.The clinical manifestations of pituicytomas are different,but no diagnostic clinical features have been identified other than an abnormally abundant blood supply.Currently,GTR is the best approach for the treatment of pituicytomas.More patients and longer follow-up periods were needed to further elucidate the biological features of pituicytomas.展开更多

The changes in the left intraventricular pressure (LVP), the maximum rise rate of intraventricular pressure (LVP dp/dtmax), the area of cardiac force loop (ACFL), and the maximum shortening velocity of myocardial contractile element (Vmax) were observed. As a result, there were significant differences in the improvement of LVP, LVP dp/dtmax, ACFL and Vmax between EA at HM and LM. The regulatory action of EA at HM on the myocardial contractile function was significantly better than that of EA at LM, indicating that HM has a close relationship with the myocardial contractile function.……展开更多
