Research on the Renovation of Traditional Villages Based on Postmodernism

Traditional village as a part of cultural heritage shows unique historical,cultural and architectural characteristics.With the accelerating urbanization,ecological environment of traditional villages has been threatened,local cultures have degraded,even all traditional villages have shown similar images,thus effective protection and update is urgently needed.Based on the background and characteristics of postmodernist design,this study explored problems in the renovation of traditional villages,analyzed the renovation cases of some traditional villages and then concluded the scientific renovation strategies,so as to provide references for the future renovation design of traditional villages.

The Pathologies of Modernity:Liberalism,Nihilism,Conservatism,Postmodernism,Intersectionality/Identity Politics,and Secular Humanism

The cultural ecology of university classroom has been influenced by postmodernism and has shown complex and variable characteristics.Specifically speaking,it tends to be both conflicting and interactive in terms of subject relations in the classroom,fragmented and diversified in terms of classroom teaching,and redundant and dynamic in terms of classroom assessment.In order to further harmonize and develop the cultural ecology of university classrooms,it is necessary to expand the space for communication and interaction between teachers and students,improve the overall professional quality of faculty members,and perfect the management and assessment system for university teachers and students.

Twilight:An Extraordinary Treasure of Gothic-postmodernism

In the current climate of literary experimentalism,'Gothic' may seem to some,an anachronistic term. Having spent most of the nineties as a buzz-word in literature and culture,its haunting presence appears to have faded somewhat. With the end of TV serials such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and the current lack of interest in the so-called Gothic images that used to inundate media and popular culture,the question arises yet again as to what significance the Gothic bears for contemporary literature?Importantly,what remains to be taken into account by such critics is the presence of fundamental Gothic elements in literary postmodernist texts. By this,I refer to works definable under the paradigm of postmodernism; experimental,radical and often metalfictional literature which problematises the relationship between reality and fiction,reader and text. The purpose of this article is to fill this gap in literary criticism by proposing a theoretical approach to postmodernist texts that are definitively Gothic.

＂The Closest Thing to God＂： Post-industrialization and Postmodernism in Tawni O＇Dell＇s Coal Run

A growing body of American literature examines the conditions in towns from the Midwest to the Northeast that have been drastically affected by the condition of what has been termed ＂deindustrialization＂. These towns have witnessed the employee downsizing and the eventual collapse of their major industries, such as automobile manufacturing and coal mining, and the fiction about them--termed ＂deindustrialization literature＂ by Sherry Lee Linkon--explores how the affected generations cope with these changed circumstances. The novel Coal Run, written in 2004 by Tawni O＇Dell＇s, herself a native of a coal mining region in Western Pennsylvania, is one such example of deindustrialization literature and the focus of this essay. Set in a coal mining town that has been shut down because of a Centralia-like uncontrolled mine fire that opens fissures to a literal kind of hell, the protagonist, Ivan the Great, a former Penn State football star, and other characters attempt to re-orient themselves after the mine---described by Ivan as ＂the closest thing I had to God＂--closes and the effects of that closing are felt. This paper discusses the motifs of ecological ruin, economic disruption, and personal, familial, and community disorientation in the novel. In doing so, the paper considers connections between de- or post-industrialization and postmodernism, particularly as discussed by cultural geographer David Harvey in The Condition of Postmodernity in terms of ＂the crisis tendency＂ of capitalism toward ＂overaccumulation＂ and the ＂link between postmodernism and...more flexible modes of capital accumulation＂. The paper goes on to consider the experiences through which the novel＇s characters learn to look to the future in ways that may be said to coincide with the ethos of much postmodern American fiction that sets less ambitious but nonetheless still meaningful expectations for human being.

One Kind of Reality： Mapping out Chinese ＂Postmodernism＂

This paper outlines the literary context and developments in post-1980s China, and seeks to map out Chinese postmodernism. It discusses the problematic existence of ＂Chinese postmodernism＂ by taking into account the more general postmodernity of Chinese society. The result is a view of postmodernism that is flexible, critical, historically and culturally situated and ethically sensitive without being dogmatic or propagandistic. This in turn will offer a basis for further study of ＂postmodernisms＂ as they have developed both in the countries of the concept＇s origin and elsewhere

Analysis on the Influence of the Postmodernism Ideological Trend on Fashion Design

In this paper, this is introduced from the concept and characteristics of postmodernism, the influence of postmodernism on fashion design, and the reflection of postmodernism in fashion design. It is found that the post-modernism ideological trend plays a certain role in promoting fashion design.

Meaning in Architecture and Landscape Architecture: Enhancement of Contemporary Design Practices Based on the Review of Postmodernism and Surrealism Aesthetic Philosophies

The study explored surrealist aesthetic philosophies in relation with referential postmodern architecture,and landscape architecture,to communicate meaning with the audience.These philosophies provide lessons about the potential of the built environment to address the emotional and psychological needs of the public,that is,to address the vital social,ecological,and functional needs of modern society.According to this,the purpose of the study was two-fold.The first is to analyze the visual techniques and forms that are used in referential postmodern architecture and landscape architecture in relation with surrealist aesthetic philosophies,to communicate meaning with the audience.Second is to demonstrate the relevance of these visual theories,to enhance contemporary design practices.The study emphasized the potential of art forms that provide meaning to address the physiological and spiritual needs of the society.Hence,it re-established landscape architecture as an art form capable of enriching human psychological and spiritual well-being,which is opposed to the conservative utilitarian natures of the field.

Between Early Literary Modernism and Contemporary Post-Postmodernism——Jan Kjrstad Rewrites Knut Hamsun’s Novel Hunger 100 Years Later

The article is a comparative study of Knut Hamsun’s novel Hunger (1890) and Jan Kjrstad’s novel The Brink (1990), focusing on similar motives, topics and references from the point of view of early modernism and post-postmodernism. It sheds light on aesthetic problems concerning how to deal with existential and metaphysical questions viewed against the background of changing historical and philosophical experiences and new ways of poetic expression. The article points out the resemblances and differences between the novels and shows how two of the front figures of modern Scandinavian literature meet the challenges of renewing the traditional forms of writing.

他者、杂糅与翻译:后现代视域下英汉融合双关语翻译研究

后现代思潮对异质性、互文性的强调在翻译研究中掀起了一场全方位的认知革命。解构主义、后殖民主义、女权主义翻译观使翻译研究者开始关注传统翻译互动中两种类型的“他者”:传统二元等级结构中作为弱势群体的“他者”和在二元临界地带流浪的游离性“他者”。长期以来,翻译学界对第一类“他者”给予了充分的关注,但对处于二元临界地带流浪的游离性“他者”并未引起足够的重视。作为游离性“他者”在文本层面的典型体现,英汉融合双关语这一新型杂糅文本逐渐兴起并已进入中国大众的日常生活,却并未在学界得到应有的关注。该类文本不可通约的“他者性”和“创造性”特质有利于人们重新思考翻译的定义、可译性和翻译伦理问题,为后现代翻译研究提供新的视角。

后现代视域下我国音乐教育现状的理论反思

基于对音乐教育特性和内涵的探讨与分析,认为在后现代教育语境下,我国的音乐教育应该实现对传统和主流的解构,应该从科学和理性中解放出来,实现音乐教育的生态化持续发展。最应该关注的有两点:一、实现知识“中心”向人文内涵“边缘”的位移,实现实证科学向“德性”“人性”培养的转向;二、音乐教育是充满生命意识而不是固化的实体,是多元并存而不是单线进化的,因而应该尊重知识的差异性和多样性,真正实现音乐教育的“人文主义”具体化,实现音乐教育内涵的多元理解。

罗蒂与后现代主义的关系相当复杂。罗蒂通过批判欧洲近代哲学的“表象论”的认识论路线和早期分析哲学的“图像论”语言观而得出某些类似于后现代主义的结论。从这一角度看,罗蒂与法国后现代主义代表人物德里达一样都致力于解构形而上学。然而,罗蒂的实用主义立场又导致他在文化观等方面与法国后现代主义者分道扬镳。罗蒂从实用的效果出发肯定现代性和世俗社会中的某些积极因素,并且他还为技术理性、人本主义和怀抱希望的浪漫主义精神正名,批评后现代主义一味解构和不提出任何致力于改造社会的理想蓝图。至于罗蒂的新实用主义究竟新在何处和有无问题,可将其与传统的实用主义论点和后现代主义的论点相对照。
