As one of the primary conceptual frameworks informing language research, post-structuralism pro-vides new perspectives that expand the scope and relevant elements of language study far beyond other views. Then, what exactly isa post-structuralism perspective of language? What are its advantages and significance and how did language researchers apply itto language study? For an in-depth discussion of these questions, the paper first reviews the proposal of post-structuralist theoriesof language on the basis of a systematic comparison with structuralism, and explains its core ideas. Then, connecting theory withpractice, we discuss the application of this theory to diverse language researches, identity issues in particular. Finally, attempts aremade to put forward future research directions according to domestic research status, with the aim of offering some humble sugges-tions to future research on language learning in China.展开更多

At the same time I will also demonstrate that the body politics of women teachers in secondary education do not represent the stable and rigid hierarchy of traditional teacher-student relationship but shape the subjectivity which are deployed and suffused as a capillary action by the disciplines and power relations interwoven by gender, sexuality, class and age throughout the individual's cognition and behavior, thus produce self-monitoring in the meantime monitoring others for social function. Finally, I will argue that how the subjectivity under the social structure and cultural norms generates an individual's agency of resistance and subversion to existing gender structures through reflectivity in the cracks produced by the collision, fragmentation, consultation within different discourses, and then finds the temporary strategic and political positioning and identity.展开更多

By looking more closely at Barthes and Baudrillard's writing on meaning, writing, language, truth, and the real, we can come to a better understanding of the emergence and implications of the poststructural challenge. The paper argues that Barthes' and Baudrillard's writing on these five key concepts can lead us to a more liberating conception of thought and contribute to our individual effort to become more challenging thinkers. This paper also (unavoidably) points to several points of convergence and divergence between Barthes and Baudrillard.展开更多
