The efficient development and exploitation of shale oil depends on long-distance horizontal wells. As the degreeof cleaning of the wellbore plays a key role in these processes, in this study, this problem is investigated experimentallyby focusing on the dimensionless cuttings bed height. A method is proposed to calculate the horizontalwellhydraulic extension taking into account the influence of the wellbore cleaning degree on the wellborepressure distribution and assess the effect of a variety of factors such as the bottom hole pressure, the circulatingpressure drop, the drilling pump performance and the formation properties. The analysis shows that the hydraulicextension of horizontal wells decreases with an increase in the cuttings bed height, and the higher the displacementof drilling fluid, the faster the hydraulic extension declines. The annular pressure drop of the horizontalsection increases with the increase of the cuttings bed height, resulting in a higher bottom-hole pressure. Severalarguments are provided to guide the safe drilling of shale oil horizontal wells and overcome the limits of currenttechnological approaches. 展开更多

Rankine theory and Coulomb theory are not suitable for the calculation of wall pressure by bulk materials, so this paper studies the actual distribution and calculation methods for the wall pressure in squat silos. Based on the limits equilibrium theory, the force on unit width of wall exerted by bulk materials is obtained, and the distribution of wall pressure is obtained by accurate mathematical deduction. It is proved that the results are in good agreement with those of the full-sized silo experiment, whether the top of the stored bulk materials is a horizontal plane or a conical pile. 展开更多

The wind pressure characteristics on a saddle roof at wind direction along the connection of the low points are systematically studied by the wind tunnel test. First, the distributions of the mean and the fluctuating pressures on the saddle roof are provided. Through the wind pressure spectra, the process of generation, growth and break down of the vortex on the leading edge is presented from a microscopic aspect and then the distribution mechanism of the mean and fluctuating pressures along the vulnerable leading edge is explained. By analysis of the wind pressure spectra near the high points, it can be inferred that the body induced turbulence reflects itself as a high-frequency pressure fluctuation. Secondly, the third-and fourth-order statistical moments of the wind pressure are employed to identify the non-Gaussian nature of the pressure time history and to construct an easy tool to localize regions with a non-Gaussian feature. The cause of the non-Gaussian feature is discussed by virtue of the wind pressure spectra. It is concluded that the non-Gaussian feature of the wind pressure originates from the effects of flow separation and body-induced turbulence, and the former effect plays an obvious role. 展开更多

In the current practical science, the accuracy in the formability of metal alloys being the goal when using electromagnetic forming (EMF) technology, which is a high-speed processing technology that uses Lorentz forces to achieve plastic deformation of sheet metal;according to the previous analysis, the results have shown that in most cases, the Lorentz force acting on the workpiece (metal) is not uniform, there are uneven axial deformations of the metal plates which prevent the rapid advancement of today’s technology. In this article, we presented some advanced analyzes which will lead us to improve the technical solution for the problems of non-uniform axial deformations of the metals in the traditional tube electromagnetic forming technology (EMF). A field shaper is used as a practical forming tool to influence the magnetic field and magnetic pressure distribution, thereby improving the forming ability and result during the electromagnetic forming (EMF) process and we see that induced eddy current control is realized by changing the structural parameters of the magnetic field shaper;which improves the strength and controllability of the magnetic force that acts on the workpiece;thereby a greater radial magnetic pressure can be achieved with field shaper than the case without it;the field shaper regulates the electromagnetic force, the distribution of the magnetic pressure decreases, and the uniform force area of the tube increases which effectively enhances the uniform range of the pipe electromagnetic bulging and the electromagnetic induction coupling between the coil and the metallic workpiece is generally required to produce the Lorentz forces. Using COMSOL Multiphysics® simulation software helped us to accurately represent the real world, simulating multiple physical effects that happened in this model during the process. 展开更多

An improved finite difference method (FDM)is described to solve existing problems such as low efficiency and poor convergence performance in the traditional method adopted to derive the pressure distribution of aerostatic bearings. A detailed theoretical analysis of the pressure distribution of the orifice-compensated aerostatic journal bearing is presented. The nonlinear dimensionless Reynolds equation of the aerostatic journal bearing is solved by the finite difference method. Based on the principle of flow equilibrium, a new iterative algorithm named the variable step size successive approximation method is presented to adjust the pressure at the orifice in the iterative process and enhance the efficiency and convergence performance of the algorithm. A general program is developed to analyze the pressure distribution of the aerostatic journal bearing by Matlab tool. The results show that the improved finite difference method is highly effective, reliable, stable, and convergent. Even when very thin gas film thicknesses (less than 2 Win)are considered, the improved calculation method still yields a result and converges fast. 展开更多

Dynamic disasters, such as rock burst due to the breaking of large area stiff roof strata, are known to occur in the hard rock strata of coal mines. In this paper, mechanical models of the fracturing processes of thick hard rock strata were established based on the thick plate theory and numerical simulations. The results demonstrated that, based on the fracture characteristics of the thick hard rock strata, four fracture models could be analyzed in detail, and the corresponding theoretical failure criteria were determined in detail. In addition, the influence of weak interlayer position on the fracture models and ground pressure of rock strata is deeply analyzed, and six numerical simulation schemes have been implemented. The results showed that the working face pressure caused by the independent movement of the lower layer is relatively low.The different fracture type of the thick hard rock strata had different demands on the working resistance of the hydraulic powered supports. The working resistance of the hydraulic powered supports required by the stratified movements was lower than that of the non-stratified movements. 展开更多

Using 3-D elastic-plastic FEM, the cold strip rolling process in a 4-high mill was simulated. The elastic deformation of rolls, the plastic deformation of the strip, and the pressure between the work roll and the backup roll were taken into account. The distribution of rolling pressure along the strip width was obtained. Based on the simulation results, the peak value of rolling pressure and the location of the peak were analyzed under different rolling conditions. The effects of the roll bending force and the strip width on the distribution of rolling pressure along the width direction were determined. 展开更多

Purpose: This study aims to explore the effects of running on different surfaces on the characteristics of in-shoe plantar pressure and tibial acceleration. Methods: Thirteen male recreational runners were required to run at 12 km/h velocity on concrete, synthetic track, natural grass, a normal treadmill, and a treadmill equipped with an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) cushioning underlay (treadmill_EVA), respectively. An in-shoe plantar pressure system and an accelerometer attached to the tibial tuberosity were used to record and analyze the characteristics of plantar pressure and tibial impact during running. Results: The results showed that there were no significant differences in the 1 st and 2nd peak plantar pressures (time of occurrence), pressure-time integral, and peak pressure distribution for the concrete, synthetic, grass, and normal treadmill surfaces. No significant differences in peak positive acceleration were observed among the five tested surface conditions. Compared to the concrete surface, however, running on treadmillEVA showed a significant decrease in the 1st peak plantar pressure and the pressure time integral for the impact phase (p 〈 0.05). These can be further ascribed to a reduced peak pressure observed at heel region (p 〈 0.05). Conclusion: There may not be an inevitable relationship between the surface and the lower-limb impact in runners. It is, however, still noteworthy that the effects of different treadmill surfaces should be considered in the interpretation of plantar pressure performance and translation of such results to overground running. 展开更多

Given the 7123 working face in the Qidong Coal Mine of the Wanbei Mining Group, nine dynamic roof monitors were installed in the crossheading to measure the amount and velocity of roof convergence in different positions and at different times and three steel bored stress sensors were installed in the return airway to measure rock stress at depth. On the basis of this arrange- ment, the rule of change of the distribution of the side abutment pressure with the advance of the working face and movement of overlying strata was studied. The rule of change and the stability of rock stress at depth were measured. Secondly, the affected area and stability time of the side abutment pressure were also studied. The results show that: 1) During working, the face advanced distance was from 157 m to 99 m, the process was not effected by mining induced pressure. When the distance was 82 m, the posi- tion of peak stress was 5 m away from the coal wall. When the distance was 37 m, the position of peak stress away from the coal wall was about 15 m to 20 m and finally reached a steady state; 2) the time and the range of the peak of side rock pressure obtained from stress sensors were consistent with the results from the dynamic roof monitors; 3) the position of the peak pressure was 25 m away from the coal wall. 展开更多

The stress state around circular openings, such as boreholes, shafts, and tunnels,is usually needed to be evaluated.Solutions for stresses, strains and ultimate bearing capacities of pressurized hollow cylinder are common cases.Stress analytical method for plane problem of a double-layered thick-walled cylinder subjected to a type of non-uniform pressure on the outer surface and uniform radial pressure on the inner surface is given. The power series method of complex function is used. The stress analytical solution is obtained with the assumption that two layers of a cylinder are fully contacted. The distributions of normal and tangential contact stress along the interface, tangential stress on the inner boundary and stresses in the radial direction at θ=0°,45° and 90°,are obtained. An example indicates that, when the elastic modulus of the inner layer of a double-layered thick-walled cylinder is smaller than that of the outer layer, the tangential stress is smaller than that in the corresponding point for a traditional cylinder composed of homogeneous materials. In that way, stress concentration at the inner surface can be alleviated and the stress distribution is more uniform. This is a capable way to enhance the elastic ultimate bearing capacity of thick-walled cylinder. 展开更多

A high accuracy instrument ADV and high precision point-type pressure sensors were used to measure the parameters of the flow field, including the pressure distribution, velocities at seven cross sections near the submarine pipeline with five different clearance ratios, and twelve dynamic pressure values around the pipeline. The pressure distributions and velocity changes around the pipe under dif- ferent flow velocities and clearance ratios were analyzed. Aiming at the fatigue and comfort issues of human-machine contact interface in automobile driving and based on physiological and anatomical principle, the physiological and biochemical process of muscles and nerves in the formation and development of fatigue is analyzed systematically. The fatigue-causing physiological characteristic indexes are mapped to biomechanical indexes like muscle stress-strain, the compression deformation of blood vessels and nerves etc. from the perspective of formation mechanism. The geometrical model of skeleton and parenchyma is established by applying CT-scanned body data and MRI images. The general rule of comfort body pressure distribution is acquired through the analysis of anatomical structure of buttocks and femoral region. The comprehensive test platform for sitting comfort of 3D adjustable contact interface is constructed. The test of body pressure distribution of human-machine contact interface and its comparison with subjective evaluation indicates that the biomechanical indexes of automobile driving human-machine contact interface and body pressure distribution rule studied can effectively evaluate the fatigue and comfort issues of human-machine contact interface and provide theoretical basis for the optimal design of human-machine contact interface. 展开更多

At present, numerical modelling of distributions of many rock mass characteristics plays more and more important role in many geomechanical questions. In the issues related to seismic and rockburst hazards, the analyses of distributions of stress component values in the rock strata are performed, similarly as those of deformation parameters of the strata. To do this, commercial computer programs are used which function on the basis of the finite element-, separate element-, finite difference-, boundary element methods, or individually designed computer programs. They enable to obtain information, unattainable with other methods, being of importance for further concluding on those hazards. The programs based on applying those methods have contributed to important progress and development of science in the domain of analyzing and predicting the hazards. To this end, the commercial computer programs are used that are based on the methods of: finite elements, separate elements, finite differences, boundary elements, etc., or on individually developed computer programs. They enable to obtain information, unavailable using other methods, being of vital importance for further concluding on these hazards. The programs based on these methods have contributed to essential progress and development of science in the field of analysing and predicting the hazards. Apart from their obvious advantages, they have many drawbacks that hinder their practical, routine application. To allow making these type of analyses, without the necessity of constructing complicated models and knowing the detailed geomechanical parameters of rocks, together with laborious computation using a high-rank computer hardware, an analytical-empirical method has been developed at Central Mining Institute, Poland, to make prediction (modelling) of the distribution of pressure values (vertical component of stress) in SIGMAZ coal seams. It is based on geophysical measurements, generalized for the conditions of the Upper Silesia Coal Basin, of disturbing effect of the mining edge and tectonic faults on the state of stress. The paper presents methodological and programming assumptions of the method. The scope of its application has been discussed, and results of demonstration analyses for Polish hard coal mines presented. There have been also given the advantages of the method in relation to classical numerical methods. 展开更多

The analysis employs the finite element method. For determination of oil pressure variations in the gap, the Reynolds equation, commonly applied in the theory of lubrication, is applied. The equation is solved numerically with the use of self-developed program based on the finite element method. In order to obtain high accuracy of the results, an adaptive mesh refinement based on residual estimations of solution errors is applied. The calculation results are represented as dependent on the geometric and working parameters of the pump. 展开更多

The shapes and geometrical parameters of nozzles are key factors for fluidics. The relationship among the reaction thrust, flow rate pressure, diameter do and length L of a cylinder nozzle is analyzed theoretically. The simulation of the flow field characteristics was conducted via the FLUENT computational fluid dynamics package. Effects of the inlet conditions and the nozzle dimensions on the reaction thrust of a water jet were addressed particularly. The reaction thrust experiments were performed on a custom-designed test apparatus. The experimental results reveal that a) the nozzle diameter and the inlet conditions exert great influence on the water jet reaction thrust; and b) for L≤4d0, where the nozzle is treated as a thin plate-orifice, the reaction thrust is independent of nozzle length; for L〉4d0, where the nozzle is treated as a long orifice, the reaction thrust can reach maximum under the condition of a certain flow rate. These findings lay a theoretical foundation for the design of nozzles and have significant value, especially for the future development of high-oressure water-let orooulsion technology. 展开更多

The pressure pulsation induced by the pumped periodic pulsation fluid is the main factor of causing fluid resonance and stimulating pipelines vibrations and noise. In order to reduce the faults caused by the vibrations of pipelines, two aspects have been researched: one is to develop high quality filters, weaken and restrain the crest of pulsation pressure; the other is to design structural parameters of the piping network and eliminate the fluid resonance. Both need calculating the pressure pulsations of different structural parameters and frequencies, and knowing the amplitude frequency. In this paper the stiffness matrix technique is used for treating the coupling of subsystems of pipelines and calculating the pressure distribution of the piping network and it is tested by simulation and experiments. 展开更多

Laboratory experiments have been carried out to study the fluid flow in the wellbore of a horizontal gas well during the production process. The related pressure distribution has been determined considering different cases(different inflow media, different perforation opening methods and different liquid holdup). It has been found that the larger the fluid flow rate, the greater the pressure changes in the wellbore under the same hole opening mode. The uniformity of the perforation opening method was also an important factor affecting the magnitude of the wellbore pressure change. The liquid holdup also affected the pressure distribution, especially when the gas volumetric flow rate exceeded 200 m3/h.Comparison of the outcomes of the present experimental study with the predictions of a theoretical model available in the literature has provided a relative error smaller than 20%. 展开更多

According to the inverse solution of elasticity mechanics, a stress function is constructed which meets the space biharmonic equation, this stress functions is about cubic function pressure on the inner and outer surfaces of cylinder. When borderline condition that is predigested according to the Saint-Venant's theory is joined, an equation suit is constructed which meets both the biharmonic equations and the boundary conditions. Furthermore, its analytic solution is deduced with Matlab. When this theory is applied to hydraulic bulging rollers, the experimental results inosculate with the theoretic calculation. Simultaneously, the limit along the axis invariable direction is given and the famous Lame solution can be induced from this limit.
