Methods The study was based on two national surveys. Undernutrition was determined against WHO's 2006 growth standards. The prevalence in 2013 and 2002 was weighted by China sixth National Population Census (2010). The relationship between undernutrition and gender/age groups/different areas use weighted logistic regression. Results The results indicated the overall prevalence of stunting, underweight, and wasting of Chinese children under S-year was 8.1%, 2.4%, and 1.9% in 2013, respectively. The prevalence of stunting was higher for children aged 12-47 month, while underweight was higher for children aged 48-59 month. The prevalence of undernutrition was higher in rural areas than in urban areas, especially in poor rural areas. There was a decline of stunting, underweight, and wasting between 2002 and 2013 among the children, with greater reduction in rural areas than in urban areas. Conclusion The prevalence of undernutrition of children under 5-year remains high in rural areas especially in poor rural areas in China. It is urgent to take action to control undernutrition in the vulnerable areas and subgroups. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Choristoma is a rare, benign, congenital proliferative tumor, with osseous choristoma being the rarest.Although the tumor is benign, effective identification is needed for its diagnosis and treatment. Here,we report the diagnosis and successful surgical treatment of two patients with osseous choristoma.CASE SUMMARY Two patients,a young female and young male patient, were found to have a mass on the ocular surface. The tumor presented on the superior temporal bulbar conjunctiva in the first patient and on the upper eyelid in the second patient.Ultrasound biomicroscopy detected a strong echo with clear boundaries covering the lower echo, and computed tomography examination revealed calcification. Both patients underwent surgery, and histopathological evaluation of the mass showed osseous choristoma. They were treated by excision and subsequently cured.CONCLUSION Osseous choristomas are usually asymptomatic. Our patients were cured immediately after surgery, suggesting that surgical treatment is an effective strategy. 展开更多

Objective:We conducted this study to assess the etiopathogenic relation of otitis media with effusion(OME)in a group of children aged 1-5 years among the local population of Rawalpindi. Methods:This was a cross-sectional retrospective study.Study was conducted among the children presenting to the immunization center of three tertiary care hospitals of Rawalpindi.Otitis media was assessed by clinical examination and tympanometry from August 2019 to January 2020.Multi-factor regression analysis was then applied to recognize the statistical significance and association of various risk factors to OME.Results:Out of 400 children enrolled in this study,108(27.0%)had OME,out of which 65(60.2%)were males and 30(27.8%)were of age group 2-3 years.Multivariable regression analysis of risk factors associated with OME showed it was strongly associated with snoring(P<0.001),last year symptoms(attack of ear aches with hearing loss[P=0.002]),drugs(URTI antibiotics[P=0.026],All 3 drugs[P=0.013]).Conclusions:We found out that OME is a common disease which if not identified or treated timely can lead to other hard to cure health problems.Control of its etiopathogenic factors can play a major role in its prevention. 展开更多
