Assessing the age of an individual via bones serves as a fool proof method in true determination of individual skills.Several attempts are reported in the past for assessment of chronological age of an individual based on variety of discriminative features found in wrist radiograph images.The permutation and combination of these features realized satisfactory accuracies for a set of limited groups.In this paper,assessment of gender for individuals of chronological age between 1-17 years is performed using left hand wrist radiograph images.A fully automated approach is proposed for removal of noise persisted due to non-uniform illumination during the process of radiograph acquisition process.Subsequent to this a computational technique for extraction of wrist region is proposed using operations on specific bit planes of image.A framework called GeNet of deep convolutional neural network is applied for classification of extracted wrist regions into male and female.The experimentations are conducted on the datasets of Radiological Society of North America(RSNA)of about 12442 images.Efficiency of preprocessing and segmentation techniques resulted into a correlation of about 99.09%.Performance of GeNet is evaluated on the extracted wrist regions resulting into an accuracy of 82.18%. 展开更多

This paper presents a feature-based method for machining process planning in integrated product designing and manufacturing system for CE(Concurrent Engineering) application. The feature setup generation and machining sequence can be determined automatically in this system. The set of knowledge-based rules for process planning and manufacturability evaluation is provided and can be shared by all stages of full product life-cycle. An approach for MTAD (Multiple Tool Axis Direction) feature setup generation is presented and the appropriate Tool Axis Direction(TAD) is chosen to minimize the total setup numbers of a part. The classification and process planning of interacting feature are discussed and the knowledge-based rules are used to solve the feature interaction problem. 展开更多

The wavefront recording plane (WRP), subsequently generalized to be known as the virtual diffraction plane (VDP), is a recent concept that has been successfully deployed in fast generation and processing of digital holograms. In brief, the WRP and its extension, the VDP, is a hypothetical plane that is located between the hologram and the object scene, and which is at close proximity to the latter. As such, the fringe patterns on the hypothetical plane are carrying the holistic information of the hologram, as well as the local optical properties of the object scene. This important property enables a hologram to be processed with classical image processing techniques that are normally unsuitable for handling holographic information. In this paper we shall review a number of works, that have been developed based on the framework of the WRP and the VDP. 展开更多

As the donut-shaped... A simple technique is proposed for highly-efficient plane processing fully based on femtosecond laser beam shaping. The laser intensity distribution is transformed from a Gaussian to a donut shape. As the donut-shaped focus seems like a flat top from the side view, a plane with a high level of flatness is obtained directly by scanning once. By applying it to polishing experiments, the surface roughness can be improved significantly. The influence of scanning speed, laser pulse energy, and scanning times on the roughness is also discussed. Moreover, the scanning width can be flexibly controlled in a wide range. 展开更多
