The impact of a semi finite cylindrical piston on a non uniform rod was studied. Based on wave mechanics and characteristic line theory, an inverse numerical approach to determine the piston profile was proposed, by means of which the geometry of an impact piston may be determined from the given stress waveform for a given rod profile. Numerical results show that the given stress waveform may be produced by means of the alternatives of design of piston and rod. There is good agreement between the experimental results and numerical results. [展开更多

Normally their outer rotors are the circular arc profile while their inner rotor profile is the conjugate curve of the outer rotor. This research focuses on how to derive the combined trochoidal profile of a gerotor pump. The hypocycloidal and epicycloidal profile of the inner rotor is generated at first. And then the profile of the outer rotor, based on the inner rotor profile, is obtained by analytical approach and computationally graphical approach. The paper provides feasibility to develop the unconventional profile of a gerotor pump.展开更多

METHODS: A pilot metabolic profiling study was conducted using three groups: compensated cirrhosis patients (n = 30), decompensated cirrhosis patients (n = 30) and healthy controls (n = 30). A 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)-based metabonomics approach was used to obtain the serum metabolic profiles of the samples. The acquired data were processed by multivariate principal component analysis and orthogonal partial least-squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA). RESULTS: The OPLS-DA model was capable of distinguishing between decompensated and compensated cirrhosis patients, with an R2Y of 0.784 and a Q2Y of 0.598. Twelve metabolites, such as pyruvate, phenylala-nine and succinate, were identified as the most influential factors for the difference between the two groups. The validation of the diagnosis prediction showed that the accuracy of the OPLS-DA model was 85% (17/20). CONCLUSION: 1H NMR spectra combined with pattern recognition analysis techniques offer a new way to diagnose compensated and decompensated cirrhosis in the future.展开更多

Angle-based mesh representation consists of angle quantities defined on the mesh, from which the mesh can be reconstructed uniquely up to translation, rotation, and uniform scaling. The reconstruction process requires solving three sparse linear systems: the first system encodes the length of edges between vertices on the mesh, the second system encodes the relationship of local frames between two adjacent vertices on the mesh, and the third system defines the position of the vertices via the edge length and the local frames. From this angle-based mesh representation, we propose a quasi-angle-preserving mesh deformation system with the least-squares approach via handle translation, rotation, and uniform scaling. Several detail-preserving mesh editing examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多
