Fe^(2+)dissolution method and manual method were used to remove the anode slime and their effects on properties of cast Pb−0.6wt.%Ag anode and zinc electrowinning were compared.The results reveal that the Fe^(2+)dissolution method can avoid mechanical damage to the oxide film layer on the anode surface,which cannot be achieved by traditional manual method.This can lower the anode corrosion rate by 57.14%,thus reducing Pb contamination in electrolyte and zinc products.Meanwhile,compared with manual method,Fe^(2+)dissolution method can significantly improve the electrocatalytic activity of the anode and lower the initial power consumption of zinc electrowinning to 2720 kW·h/t after removing anode slime. 展开更多

[Objectives]To observe the clinical effect of the lotus needle cupping therapy for removing blood stasis in Zhuang medicine in treating PHNand its influence on inflammatory factors.[Methods]96 patients with PHN were randomly divided into three groups:lotus nee-dle cupping therapy group,TCM surrounding acupuncture group and gabapentin group.Venous blood and acupoint blood were collected at 0,21 and 42 d of treatment,and the expression levels of 5-HT,SP and CGRPinflammatory mediators were detected before and after treatment.The changes of VAS scores before,during and after treatment and the clinical efficacy were observed.[Results]The total effective rate of the lotus needle cupping group was 87.50%,which was better than that of the TCM acupuncture group(81.25%)and the gabapentin group(62.50%);after treatment,the VAS scores and the expression of inflammatory mediators in the three groups of patients were lower than those before treatment,and the decrease was more significant in the treatment group(P<0.05).[Conclusions]The lotus needle cupping therapy for removing blood stasis in Zhuang medicine is effective in treating PHN,and its mechanism is to reduce the release of inflammatory media-tors,reduce hyperalgesia,relieve pain and improve the quality of life of patients. 展开更多

A novel technique was developed to remove impurities from crude lead by vacuum distillation.The thermodynamics on vacuum distillation refining process of crude lead was studied by means of saturated vapor pressure of main components of crude lead,separation coefficients and vapor-liquid equilibrium composition of Pb-i(i stands for an impurity) system at different temperatures.The behaviors of impurities in the vacuum distillation refining process were investigated.The results show that the vacuum distillation should be taken to obtain lead from crude lead,in which Zn,As and partial Sb are volatilized at lower temperature of 923-1023 K.Lead is distilled from the residue containing Cu,Sn,Ag and Bi at higher temperature of 1323-1423 K,but the impurity Bi is also volatilized along with lead and cannot be separated from lead. 展开更多

The objective of this research was to isolate denitrifying bacteria from sea sediment and simulate the removal efficiency of nitrate-N by denitrifying bacteria from seawater. The result showed that the isolated denitrifying bacteria could effectively remove nitrate-N from seawater. About 90 % of nitrate-N was removed by denitrifying bacteria from seawater within a week in the simulated experiment I (the initial concentration of nitrate-N was 100 mg/L). The removal efficiency of nitrate-N reached about 70 % within one day in the simulated experiment Ⅱ (initial concentration of nitrate-N was 1 mg/L). The final removal efficiency was about 98 % and 85 % in the simulated experiments Ⅰ and Ⅱ, respectively. It was found that there was positive correlation between the concentration of nitrate-N and the number of denitrifying bacteria in seawater. Lots of denitrifying bacteria would disappear and the seawater would become transparent once the process of bioremediation was completed. 展开更多

The slip-sweep technique is one of the high-efficiency, high-fidelity, and environmental vibroseis seismic prospecting techniques which consists of a vibrator group sweeping without waiting for the previous group's sweep to terminate. The cycle time can be reduced drastically and hence the production efficiency can be increased significantly but harmonic distortion of one sweep will leak into the record of the other sweep. In this paper, we propose an anti-correlation method for removing harmonic distortion in vibroseis data. This method is based on decomposition of the ground force signal into fundamental and harmonic components. Then the corresponding anti-correlation operator can be computed to estimate the energy of each harmonic after correlating the vibroseis data with the corresponding harmonic component. Finally, the vibroseis harmonic noise to be removed can be obtained by subtracting the extracted harmonic noise from the traces of the previous group's sweep. The advantage of the proposed method is that it can process both uncorrelated and correlated vibroseis seismic data. Moreover, the algorithm is simple, stable, and computationally fast. Especially, the significant contribution of this method is a considerable reduction in the harmonic without any alteration of the desired signals. The method was tested on both synthetic and field data sets to validate the good harmonic noise suppression results. 展开更多

In order to rapidly respond to the complex and mutational market, a new facility layout plan based on cellular manufacturing is proposed, which gives consideration to high efficiency and flexibility. The plan designs two phases of integrated cell layout, i.e., cell construction and cell system layout, on the condition of adding/removing machines. First, in view of the costs of logics and machine-relocation, the cell construction based on the alternative processing routes and intra-cell layout are integrated as a whole, which achieves cell formation, process planning and the intra-cell layout in a single step. Secondly, an approach of a continuous optimized multi-line layout for solving the cell system layout problem is proposed, which eliminates the coupling relationship from the machine-relocation and realizes an integrated design of the two phases of the cell layout. An application based on real factory data is optimally solved by the Matlab 7.0 software to validate and verify the models. 展开更多

To compare the efficacy of various irrigants(citric acid, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA) and Na OCl) and techniques in removing Ca(OH)2in two types of curved root canal systems, simulated root canals with specific curvatures were used to investigate the effects of different irrigants and instruments on Ca(OH)2removal. The optimal methods were verified on extracted human teeth. Simulated root canals were assigned to one of two groups based on the irrigation solution: 10% citric acid or2.5% Na OCl. Each group was divided into four subgroups according to the technique used to remove Ca(OH)2. The percentage of Ca(OH)2removal in different sections of root canals was calculated. On the basis of the results obtained for the simulated canals, 10% citric acid and 17% EDTA were applied to remove Ca(OH)2from the extracted human teeth with curved root canal systems. The teeth were scanned by micro computed tomography to calculate the percentage of Ca(OH)2removal in the canals.In simulated root canals, we found that 10% citric acid removed more Ca(OH)2than 2.5% NaOCl in the 0–1 mm group from the apex level(Po0.05). Ultrasonic and Endo Activator activation significantly removed more Ca(OH)2than a size 30 K file in the apical third(Po0.05). However, there were no significant differences in any sections of the canals for 10% citric acid or 17%EDTA in removing Ca(OH)2in extracted human teeth. We concluded that it was effective to remove residual Ca(OH)2using the decalcifying solution with Endo Activator or Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation in a curved root canal system. A protocol for Ca(OH)2removal was provided based on the conclusions of this study and the methods recommended in previous studies. 展开更多

Based on the effects of skim components on ammonium removal as well as the current processing technology, a new process-intensified technology of removing ammonia from skim by air stripping on rotating packed bed was proposed. The experiments were conducted on a wave-thread packed Rotating Packed Bed(RPB) under atmospheric pressure, suggesting that, in terms of order of importance, the ammonium concentration of feed-stock(x_w), the average ultra-gravity factor(β), feed-stock flux(L), and gas flux(G) had significant impact on ammonium removal rate(η) and the ammonium concentration of products(x_D). In the experiment, mass-transfer coefficient in gas phase(k_ya_e) increases with the increase of β, G/L, and L. The ammonium concentration of products decreases with the increase of β, G/L and the increase of L. The ammonium concentration of products would be as low as ~0.10% and the ammonia removal rate would be 63.21% when skim temperature was 25 °C, x_w0.28%, β 133.2, and G/L 15.0 m^3·L^(-1). Experiment results indicated that the proposed technology for removing ammonium from skim on a rotating packed bed would be a new process-intensified technique compared with traditional aeration process and centrifugal atomization method. 展开更多

Nitrogen removal from synthetic wastewater was investigated in an airlift bioreactor (ALB), augmented with a novel heterotrophic nitrifier Pseudonocardia ammonioxydans H9^T under organic carbon to nitrogen ratios (Corg/N) ranging from 0 to 12. Effect of the inoculated strain was also determined on the settling properties and the removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD). Two laboratory scale reactors were set up to achieve a stable nitrifying state under the same physicochemical conditions of hydraulic retention time (HRT), temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen (DO), and operated under the sequencing batch mode. The level of DO was kept at 0.5- 1.5 mg/L by periodic stirring and aeration. Each specific Corg/N ratio was continued for duration of 3 weeks. One of the reactors (BR2) was inoculated with P ammonioxydans H9^T periodically at the start of each Corg/N ratio. Sludge volumetric index (SVI) improved with the increasing Corg/N ratio, but no significant difference was detected between the two reactors. BR2 showed higher levels of nitrogen removal with the increasing heterotrophic conditions, and the ammonia removal reached to the level of 82%-88%, up to10% higher than that in the control reactor (BR1) at Corg/N ratios higher than 6; however, the ammonia removal level in experimental reactor was up to 8% lower than that in control reactor at Corg/N ratios lower than 2. The COD removal efficiency progressively increased with the increasing Corg/N ratios in both of the reactors. The COD removal percentage up to peak values of 88%-94% in BR2, up to 11% higher than that in BR1 at Corg/N ratio higher than 4. The peak values of ammonia and COD removal almost coincided with the highest number (18%-27% to total bacterial number) of the exogenous bacterium in the BR2, detected as colony forming units (CFU). Furthermore, the removal of ammonia and COD in BR2 was closely related to the number of the inoculated strain with a coefficient index (R2) up to 0.82 and 0.85 for ammonia and COD, respectively. These results suggest that it was more efficient for both the ammonia and carbon nutrient removals in a reactor inoculated with a heterotrophic nitrifier at high Corg/N ratio, inferring that the heterotrophic nitrifers would be practically more available in the treatment of wastewater with high level of ammonia and COD. 展开更多

The results obtained from the model simulation show that this model can indicate the influence of the process factors, Cin, η μmax, Cx, A, h, Kin, and Q, on the removal of SO2 and that the prediction of the results by this model is also satisfactory. In the AO process, the common phosphorus accumulating organisms (PAOs) was dominate, while in the AN process, DPB was dominate, The volume of anaerobic zone(Vana):anoxie zone(Vano) : aerobic zone (Vaer) for the parallel AN/AO process is 1:1:1 in contrast with a Vana:Vaer and Vano:Vaer of 1:2 and 1:4 for a traditional biological nutrient removal process (BNR). Process 3 excels in the 3 processes on the basis of COD, TN and TP removal. Absorption and catalytic oxidation of nitric oxide can be achieved by using cobalt(Ⅲ) ethylenediamine (Co(en)3^3+. When simultaneous absorbing SO2 and NO, the precipitation of Co2(SO3)3 will be yielded and the NO removal will be decreased. A new catalyst system using Co(en)3^3+ coupled with urea has been developed to simultaneous remove NO and SO2 in the flue gas. NO is absorbed and catalytically oxidized to nitrite and nitrate by Co(en)3^3+. The dissolved oxygen in scrubbing solution from the feed stream acts as oxidant. Urea restrains the precipitation of Co2(SO3)3 by oxidizing SO3^2-to SO4^2- as COSO4 is more soluble in water. The experimental results proved that nearly all SO3^2- can be oxidized to SO4^2- and the high NO and SO2 removal could be obtained with the new system. The NO removal is influenced by gas flow rate, the concentration of Co(en)3^3+ and urea in the absorption solution, the temperature of the scrubbing solution and the content of oxygen in the flue gas. The low gas flow rate is favorable to increase the NO removal. The experiments proved that the NO removal could be maintained at more than 95% by the system of 0.02 mol/L Co(en)3^3+ and 1% urea at 50℃ with 10% O2 in the flue gas. 展开更多

The removal of Cr,sulfates and Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD)from industrial tannery wastewater by chemical precipitation was carried out using Calcium oxide(CaO)and Calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2).Different doses of alkalis,ranging from deficiency to excess hydroxyl species over the stoichiometric necessary,were used to remove theoretically the 100%of Cr[0.3-3.2 g alkali·(g Cr^3+)^-1].The precipitation was carried out at room temperature,10 min of vigorous stirring,200 r·min^-1 and a settling time of 24 h,followed by separation and characterization of liquid product.As result of addition of alkalis,pH underwent increase as did the alkali concentration.The removal of Cr,and sulfates also increased as alkali concentration did,although for first species the changes at higher alkali contents were less evident.COD removal on the other hand,did not follow a unique trend,instead exhibited a maximum.Based on our results,selection of a specific dose of alkali was carried out taking as reference the efficiency on total chromium removal,keeping the pH in the range 7 to 9 to ensure Cr precipitation as chromium hydroxide.With those conditions,jar test was used to produce enough liquid product in order to determine the removal percent of several other species.The removal percent of the species was as follows:Cr,SO4^2-,ZnSO4,FeSO4,CN^-1,NiSO4,Fe2[Fe(CN)6]at 99.8%,66.9%,99.6%,21.4%,70.9%,52.8%and 76.4%with CaO,and 99.8%,61.6%,99.9%,7.1%,84.0%,54.4%and 90.5%with Ca(OH)2,respectively. 展开更多

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR.) analysis indicated that the contents of —NH2 and —OH groups increased and fluoride decreased on the membrane surface after modification. Using this kind of affinity membrane, the effects of operation parameters such as pH, ionic strength and flow rate, on the amount of endotoxin removed were investigated. The results showed that the equilibrium adsorption capacity and the dissociation constant of the affinity membrane to endotoxin were 21.4 EU·mg-1 membrane and 0.50EU·ml-1, respectively, at pH 7.0 and ionic strength 0.2 mol·L-1. Adsorption appeared to follow a typical Langmuir adsorption isotherm. At pH 5.0, ionic strength of 0.2 mol·L-1, the removal rate of endotoxin from BSA solution with the chitosan affinity membrane was up to 88.6% (11.50 EU·mg-1 membrane), and the recovery of BSA was 93.4% (0.187mg·mg-1 membrane), while at pH 11.0, ionic strength of 0.2mol·L-1, the removal rate of endotoxin from lysozyme solution was 72.4% (9.92EU·mg-1 membrane), and the recovery of lysozyme was 92.3% (0.104 mg·mg-1 membrane). 展开更多

To investigate the characteristics and metabolic mechanism of short-cut denitrifying phospho- rus-removing bacteria (SDPB) that are capable of enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) using nitrite as an electron acceptor, an aerobic/anoxic sequencing batch reactor was operated under three phases. An SDPB-strain YC was screened after the sludge enrichment and was identified by morphological, physiological, biochemical properties and 16S rDNA gene sequence analysis. Denitrifying phosphorus-removing experiments were conducted to study anaerobic and anoxic metabolic mechanisms by analyzing the changes of chemical oxygen demand (COD), phosphate, nitrite, poly-fl-hydroxybutyrate (PHB), and glycogen. The results show that strain YC is a non-fermentative SDPB similar to Paracoccus denitrificans. As a kind of non-fermentative bacteria, the energy of strain YC was mainly generated from phosphorus release (96.2%) under anaerobic conditions with 0.32 mg P per mg synthesized PHB. Under anoxic conditions, strain YC accumulated 0.45 mg P per mg degraded PHB, which produced most of energy for phosphate accumulation (91.3%) and a little for glycogen synthesis (8.7%). This metabolic mechanism of strain YC is different from that of traditional phosphorus-accumulating organisms (PAOs). It is also found that PHB, a kind of intracellular polymer, plays a very important role in denitrifying and accumulating phosphorus by supplying sufficient energy for phosphorous accumulation and carbon sources for denitrification. Therefore, monitoring AP/APHB and ANO2 -N/APHB is more necessary than monitoring AP/ACOD, ANO2 -N/ACOD, or AP / ANO2 -N. 展开更多

It is novel to apply the magnetic field in removing SO2 as discussed in this paper. The mechanisms of removing sulfur dioxide by non-thermal plasma along with the application of the magnetic field are analyzed, and the related factors affecting the removal efficiency, such as the magnitude of pulsed voltage, the polarity of the pulse, the layout of the discharge electrode, especially the magnetic field are experimentally investigated. 2D carbon ribbon/Al_(2)O_(3) was synthesized with two-dimensional metal organic frameworks 2D-MOFs as precursors using the solvothermal and calcination methods.Batch experiments of adsorption parameters such as pH,liq... 2D carbon ribbon/Al_(2)O_(3) was synthesized with two-dimensional metal organic frameworks 2D-MOFs as precursors using the solvothermal and calcination methods.Batch experiments of adsorption parameters such as pH,liquid/solid ratio,adsorption kinetics,adsorption thermodynamics,and anions competitions were investigated to understand the adsorptive behavior of fluoride on carbon ribbon/Al_(2)O_(3) and nitrogen-doped carbon ribbon/Al_(2)O_(3).The adsorption of fluoride on carbon ribbon/Al_(2)O_(3) could be described as the chemical and multilayer adsorption,while the adsorption of fluoride on nitrogen-doped carbon ribbon/Al_(2)O_(3) followed the chemical and monolayer adsorption phenomenon.The fluoride on nitrogen-doped carbon ribbon/Al_(2)O_(3) had a much faster adsorption rate of 3.1×10^(−7) m/s than carbon ribbon/Al_(2)O_(3),which was 1.2×10^(−7) m/s.The nitrogen-doping on carbon ribbon enhances structural defects and improves the adsorption performance of fluoride.Also,the diacetylene linkages(—C≡C—)and pyridinic-N were studied to understand their influences on removing fluoride.The result indicates that carbon ribbon and nitrogen-doped ribbon could serve as good adsorbents for removing fluoride. 展开更多

Objective To prospectively evaluate the efficacy of Removing Stasis and Reducing Heat Formula in accelerating calculus clearance and improving lower urinary tract symptoms of patients with proximal ureteral calculi after ureteroscopic Ho:YAG laser lithotripsy. Methods A total of 138 patients with proximal ureteral calculi underwent ureteroscopic Ho:YAG laser lithotripsy by a single endocrinologist. Stone size varied from 10 to 15 mm. After operation, the patients were randomly divided into three groups: the control group(group A), tamsulosin group(group B), and Removing Stasis and Reducing Heat Formula group(group C). The treatment lasted for 4 weeks or until stone clearance. The primary and secondary outcomes of the three groups at follow-up were assessed. Results Of the 131 patients available for follow-up, 44 cases were in the group A, 45 in the group B, and 42 in the group C, respectively. The stone free rate at 2 weeks in the groups B and C were significantly higher than that in the group A(95.56%, 97.62% vs. 79.55%; all P<0.05). The ureteral colic rate and mean time of fragment expulsion were significantly reduced in the groups B(4.44% and 7.86±4.99 days) and C(2.43% and 6.76±4.37 days) compared with the group A(22.73% and 11.54±9.89 days, all P<0.05). On the day of double-J ureteric stent removal, the group C differed significantly from the group A in the total International Prostate Symptom Score, irritative subscore, obstructive subscore, and quality of life score(all P<0.05). Conclusion Removing Stasis and Reducing Heat Formula in the medical expulsive therapy might be an effective modality for patients with calculus in the proximal uretera after ureteroscopic Ho:YAG laser lithotripsy. 展开更多
