A hybrid neural network model,in which RH process(theoretical)model is combined organically with neural network(NN)and case-base reasoning(CBR),was established. The CBR method was used to select the operation mode and the RH operational guide parameters for different steel grades according to the initial conditions of molten steel, and a three-layer BP neural network was adopted to deal with nonlinear factors for improving and compensating the limitations of technological model for RH process control and end-point prediction. It was verified that the hybrid neural network is effective for improving the precision and calculation efficiency of the model. 展开更多

Based on the industrial production of non-oriented silicon steel, calcium treatment by CaSi wire feeding during the RH refining process was studied. The thermodynamics of CaS inclusion formation was analyzed, and the morphology and the size distribution were observed. Furthermore, the change in inclusion characteristics after calcium treatment and the effect of calcium treatment on magnetic properties were discussed. The results show that the formation of MnS and A1N inclusions were restrained, and the aggregating, floating and removing of microinclusions after calcium treatment were effectively promoted. The cleanliness of liquid steel was obviously increased. The main type of inclusions was single phase of CaO, with some complex inclusions composed of CaO, SiO2 and MgO. No CaS inclusion was observed after an appropriate calcium treatment. The size of all inclusions was distributed in the range of 2 - 20 μm, and the number was about 1.8 × 10^5/mm3. In addition, as an increasing amount of calcium was added, the core loss gradually decreased to a stable level, and the magnetic induction decreased quickly after a slow increase. The optimal calcium treatment mode depends on the chemical composition of steel. 展开更多

Titanium is an impurity element in some special steel grades. The existence of titanium decreases the grain size and lowers the yield strength ,resulting in low quality of these steels with regard to various properties. Thus, the titanium content should be reduced to the minimum. Based on the industrial production of ultra-low carbon A1-Si killed steel, this paper investigated the physical-chemical behaviors of titanium with and without desulfurization during RH refining. The influences of Ti content in hot metal, ladle slag composition, and ladle slag quantity, etc., on the Ti content in refined liquid steel were discussed. The results show that the partition ratio of titanium between ladle slag and liquid steel is inversely proportional to the AI content to the power of 4/3 ,and the empirical formula regressed from practical experience can be expressed as w(TiO2)/Wti=48/w[AI]4/3 Maximum partition ratio of titanium between top slag and liquid steel can be ensured W[Til WIAIIby an optimum slag composition including components of FeOx and A12 03 and an appropriate slag basicity. The contents of FetO and A1203 should be controlled above 6% and below 20% respectively and the slag basicity should be kept within 1.5 to 3.0. Moreover, desulfurization refining in the RH vacuum will decrease the partition ratio of titanium between ladle slag and liquid steel significantly. To keep the Ti content stably below 15 ×10 ^-4% in a 300 ton ladle ,the Ti content in hot metal must be lower than 500 × 10^-4% and the thickness of ladle slag carried over from BOF slag must be less than 50 ram. 展开更多

The variational regulation of inclusions and total oxygen in the IF Molten Steel during the RH refining process after deoxidization was studied. The results show that the relationship between total oxygen content and time is in accord with the following equation, T.O=271.25e-1.53t+23.49, R2=0.9966.The inclusion analysis investigation during RH pure circulation process indicates that the main inclusion of the IF molten steel after 2 minutes from the beginning of deoxidization is cluster inclusions of pure Al2O3 system. After 6 minutes from the aluminum deoxidization, the quantity of inclusion decreases and the inclusion style changes into block inclusions of Al2O3 system with the size of 5μm. In the other hand, some inclusions are of Al2O3-MgO. Complex inclusions of Al2O3-TiOx with the size of below 5μm, and the single particle or cluster complex inclusions with the typical square shape of Al2O3-TiN system are found after 3 minutes from titanium-ferrous alloy added. Then, the content of titanium of complex inclusions of Al2O3-TiOx decreases and the aluminum content rises along with the RH pure circulation time process. That means the inclusions of Al2O3-TiOx is not steady, and it trends to transfer into Al2O3. 展开更多

Titanium is the impurity in some special steel grades. The existence of titanium decreases the grain size, depresses the yield strength, and results in the low quality of these steels in various properties. Thus, titanium should be removed to the minimum.Based on the industrial production of ultra low carbon Al-Si killed steel, the physical-chemical behavior of titanium was investigated in vacuum degassing refining(RH)process with and without desulfurization. The influences of titanium content in hot metal, ladle slag composition, and ladle slag quantity, etc,on titanium content of refined liquid steel were discussed. The results showed that the partition ratio of titanium between ladle slag and liquid steel is in inverse proportion to the 4/3square of aluminum content. The maximum partition ratio of titanium between top slag and liquid steel can be obtained by adjusting an optimum slag composition including contents of FeOxand Al2O3and the slag basicity, and the suitable range of them should be controlled higher than 6%,less than 20%,and within 1.5to 3.0,respectively.Moreover,desulfurization refining by RH decreases the partition ratio of titanium between ladle slag and liquid steel significantly. To ensure the titanium content stably less than 15×10-6 in a 300tladle,the titanium content in hot metal must be less than 500×10-6 and the thickness of basic oxygen furnace(BOF)slag carrying over must be less than 50mm. 展开更多
