The utilization of prefabricated light modular radiant heating system has demonstrated significant increases in heat transfer efficiency and energy conservation capabilities.Within prefabricated building construction,this new heating method presents an opportunity for the development of comprehensive facilities.The parameters for evaluating the effectiveness of such a system are the upper surface layer’s heat flux and temperature.In this paper,thermal resistance analysis calculation based on a simplified model for this unique radiant heating system analysis is presented with the heat transfer mechanism’s evaluation.The results obtained from thermal resistance analysis calculation and numerical simulation indicate that the thermal resistance analysis method is highly accurate with temperature discrepancies ranging from 0.44℃ to−0.44℃ and a heat flux discrepancy of less than 7.54%,which can meet the requirements of practical engineering applications,suggesting a foundation for the prefabricated radiant heating system. 展开更多

Radiant syngas cooler(RSC)is widely used as a waste heat recovery equipment in industrial gasification.In this work,an RSC with radiation screens is established and the impact of gaseous radiative property models,gas components,and ash particles on heat transfer is investigated by the numerical simulation method.Considering the syngas components and the pressure environment of the RSC,a modified weighted-sum-of-gray-gases model was developed.The modified model shows high accuracy in validation.In computational fluid dynamics simulation,the calculated steam production is only 0.63%in error with the industrial data.Compared with Smith's model,the temperature decay along the axial direction calculated by the modified model is faster.Syngas components are of great significance to heat recovery capacity,especially when the absorbing gas fraction is less than 10%.After considering the influence of particles,the outlet temperature and the proportion of radiative heat transfer are less affected,but the difference in steam output reaches 2.7 t·h^(-1).The particle deposition on the wall greatly reduces the heat recovery performance of an RSC. 展开更多

The radiant tube burner was modeled and analyzed by the numerical simulation method to investigate the influence factors and rules of NO_(x) emissions in a W-type radiant tube.These factors,which include air preheating temperature,excess air coefficient,and fuel gas composition,were modified to study their effects on NO_(x) emissions under varying working conditions.Simulation results were compared with the theoretical calculation value based on chemical reaction equilibrium theory and the onsite experimental value to verify the simulation accuracy.The results show that NO_(x) emissions rise with increasing air preheating temperatures.NO_(x) production increases to an extreme value and then decreases during the oxygen-poor to oxygen-enriched process with the rise of the excess air coefficient.Enhancing the proportion of coke oven gas in the fuel gas raises the combustion temperature as well as the NO_(x) discharge.Both the thermal efficiency and NO_(x) emissions should be balanced.Therefore,the recommended values based on the simulation results are as follows:the air preheating temperature should not exceed 400℃,the excess air coefficient should be between 1.1 and 1.2,and the volume fraction of the coke oven gas should not exceed 30%. 展开更多

The influence of the panel position on the cooling performance of a radiant panel is analyzed.The coupled simulation of convection and radiation is set up by a computational fluid dynamics(CFD)method.The simulations with different panel positions and different indoor heat sources are used to calculate the cooling capacity of the radiant panel and the indoor thermal environment.The simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental results.The results show that when the indoor heat source temperature is low,the convective heat flux is the main influence factor of the cooling capacity and the radiant panel should be placed on the wall or on the ceiling.Otherwise,when the indoor heat source temperature is high,the radiation heat flux is the main factor and the radiant panel should be placed as near to the heat sources as possible. 展开更多

In order to have an in-depth understanding of the metal ceiling radiant panel with capillary tubes, a radiant ceiling heating system is constructed to study the actual heating performance and thermal comfort by experiments. In addition, the energy saving potential of the novel heating system is discussed in terms of the COP (coefficient of performance) of the ground source heat pump and the exergy efficiency of the radiant terminal. The results indicate that the heating system shows high thermal stability and thermal comfort. When the system reaches a stable condition, the radiant heat transfer accounts for 62.7% of the total heat transfer, and the total heat transfer can meet the heating demands of most buildings. Compared to a radiant floor heating system, it offers advantages in a shorter preheating time, a lower supply water temperature and a stronger heating capability. The COP of the ground source heat pump is increased greatly when the supply water temperature is 28 to 33 ℃, and the exergy efficiency of the metal ceiling with capillary tubes is 1.6 times that of the radiant floor when the reference temperature is 5 ℃ The novel radiant ceiling heating system shows a tremendous energy saving potential. 展开更多

In order to improve the heat transfer characteristics of the traditional phase change material(PCM) floor, a new double-layer radiant floor system with PCM is proposed, which can store thermal or cold energy in the off-peak period and use them in the peak period. An experimental setup was developed to study the heat transfer characteristics of the new system under both cooling and heating modes. The experimental results show that the double-layer radiant floor system with PCM can meet both the cold and thermal requirements of users. Moreover, with the same duration of the thermal energy storage process, the increase of water temperature supplied to the system can improve the heat transfer characteristics of the system but lead to the discomfort of users. On the other hand, if the air temperature at the end of the thermal energy storage process is the same under different conditions, the increase of supplied water temperature will decrease the thermal energy storage time and ensure the comfort of users. 展开更多

A new ground source heat pump system combined with radiant heating/cooling is proposed, and the principles and the advantages of the system are analyzed. A demonstration of the system is applied to a rebuilt building: Xijindu exhibition hall, which is located in Zhenjiang city in China. Numerical studies on the thermal comfort and energy consumption of the system are carded out by using TRNSYS software. The results indicate that the system with the radiant floor method or the radiant ceiling method shows good thermal comfort without mechanical ventilation in winter. However, the system with either of the methods should add mechanical ventilation to ensure good comfort in summer. At the same level of thermal comfort, it can also be found that the annual energy consumption of the radiant ceiling system is less than that of the radiant floor system. 展开更多

To evaluate the thermal performance of a low-temperature electrical radiant floor heating system,an experimental facility equipped with a constant temperature chamber and different specimen floors is designed and built.The heating cable is installed in the floor slab with a unit-rated power of 30 W/m.Twenty-four different schemes are worked out and tested,which include three kinds of composite floor structures and eight kinds of cable distances.The cable distances are 30,40,50,60,80,100,130,150 mm.The main affective factors of the thermal performance and their influencing regularity are discussed.The experimental results show that the system has good stability and reliability,and the ratio of the radiation heat-transfer rate to the gross heat-transfer rate is greater than 50%.When the floor structure and the cable distance are fixed,the gross heat-transfer rate of the upper floor surface has a maximum value at an optimal cable distance.Under the experimental conditions in this paper,the optimal cable distance is 50 mm. 展开更多

Taiwan is a hot and humid place;in addition,the sunlight is strong and sufficient,the naturally ventilated classrooms have large-area windows for better lighting and ventilation in Taiwan.However,subjects sitting close to the large-area windows will encounter the problem of radiant temperature asymmetry,which may cause local thermal discomfort during summer.Hence,this paper is to investigate the influence of horizontal radiant temperature asymmetry on the thermal sensation of subjects and the correlative variation of environmental parameters in a warm sitting area.The evaluation results show that the predicted mean vote(PMV)index can be used to predict the overall thermal sensation of a group of sedentary subjects in a warm environment with horizontal radiant temperature asymmetry;even subjects feel local discomfort on exposed parts of their body.The measured results of environmental parameters indicate that the averaged radiant temperature difference is about 4.6 ℃ from right shoulder to left shoulder;the temperature difference does not only cause correlative variations of other environmental parameters,but also result in thermal discomfort on the right cheeks and forearms of subjects in the warm sitting area. 展开更多

This work focuses on the estimation of a duty cycle of a radiant ceiling heating system with a panel surface temperature of 35℃and a heat flux of 65 W/m2 that corresponds to a thermal comfort for sedentary occupants.The results obtained are based on the theoretical heat transfer equations that govern the radiant and natural convection heat exchange mechanisms,and experimental heat transfer coefficients available in the literature.The results of the examined radiant heating system with specific conditions showed that a duty cycle of 6.46 min alternated by 13.36 min in shutting-down position is required to assure an acceptable thermal comfort for the enclosure space occupants.In addition,the study showed that for extremely cold-temperature conditions the heating system requires a daily operating load of about 61.2%which clearly proves the efficiency of these radiant heating systems in terms of energy consumption. 展开更多

The hybrid system with radiant cooling and dedicated outdoor air not only possesses high energy efficiency, but also creates a healthy and comfortable indoor environment. Indoor air quality will be improved by the dedicated outdoor air system(DOAS) and indoor thermal comfort can be enhanced by the radiant cooling system(RCS). The optimal air-supply mode of the hybrid system and the corresponding design approach were investigated. A full-scale experimental chamber with various air outlets and the ceiling radiant cooling panels(CRCP) was designed and established. The performances of different air-supply modes along with CRCPs were analyzed by multi-index evaluations. Preliminary investigations were also conducted on the humidity stratification and the control effect of different airflow modes to prevent condensation on CRCP. The overhead supply air is recommended as the best combination mode for the hybrid system after comprehensive comparison of the experiment results. The optimal proportion of CRCP accounting for the total cooling capacities in accord with specific cooling loads is found, which may provide valuable reference for the design and operation of the hybrid system. 展开更多

In order to study the light flash radiant intensity produced by strong shock on a 2A12 aluminum target at the same projectile incidence angles and different shock velocities,experimental measurements were conducted for light flash phenomena of a 2A12 aluminum projectile impacting a 2A12 aluminum target under the conditions of different impact velocity and the same projectile incidence angles of 45° by using an optical pyrometer measurement system and a two-stage light gas gun loading system.Experimental results show that the peak values of the light flash radiant intensity for the wavelength of 550 nm are largest in the wavelength ranges of 600 nm,650 nm and 700 nm when a 2A12 aluminum projectile impacts a double-layer 2A12 aluminum plate in the present experimental conditions. 展开更多

Taking the city of Guangzhou as an example,using 3-D Unsteady State Heat Balance Radiation Calculation Method,this paper shows that the mean radiant temperature( MRT) under piloti area increases with the increase of piloti ratio,and especially when piloti ratio is equal to 100%,the MRT increase trend becomes sharp. The MRT of exposed area decreases with the increase of piloti ratio,especially when piloti ratio reaches 100%,the decrease trend of MRT becomes sharp,which offers the reference for the study on piloti design in subtropical climate zones and further research on living environment by CFD simulation in residential blocks. 展开更多

A building model with radiant cooling system was established and the cooling load, indoor temperature, surface temperature of the wails and other parameters in non-cooling and radiant cooling room were calculated by TRNSYS. The comparative analysis of the characteristics of attenuation and delay proves that the operation of radiant cooling system increases the degree of temperature attenuation of the room and reduces the inner surface temperature of the wall significantly, but has little effect on the attenuation coefficient and delay time of wall heat transfer. The simulation results also show that the inner surface temperature of the walls in the radiant cooling room is much lower than that in non-cooling room in the day with the maximum cooling load, which reduces the indoor operation temperature largely, and improves the thermal comfort. Finally, according to the analysis of indoor temperature of the rooms with different operation schedules of cooling system, it can be derived that the indoor mean temperature changes with the working time of radiant cooling system, and the operation schedule can be adjusted in practice according to the actual indoor temperature to achieve the integration of energy efficiency and thermal comfort. 展开更多

In this study, fabrics which are made of flame resistant cotton, Nomex, polybenzimidazole (PBI), polysulfonamide (PSA), kermel, and blend of kermei with rayon fiber are investigated on high intensity of different radiant and convective heat source. The mechanism of heat transfer in different situations is discussed. It is identified that exposed candition has an important effect on thermal protective performance.
