A Study on the Accessibility and Dissemination of Bilingual Chinese Culture Readers for Chinese Adolescents from the Perspective of English Glocalization

The dissemination of Chinese culture is closely related to the influence of national culture.Chinese culture readers serve as important carriers for cultivating global competence among young people and disseminating Chinese culture.They are also important measures to help different cultures eliminate cultural barriers.However,the current Chinese culture readers are of various kinds,seldom testing the readability and rarely taking consideration of the target readers’accessibility.Therefore,this study explores the factors affecting the readability of different Chinese culture readers from the perspective of English global localization,aiming to explore the ways and methods to enhance the dissemination of Chinese culture.Meanwhile,it conducted a survey on the target readers’competence in language learning and culture awareness.

What are the Differences between Good and Poor Readers?

Reading is a very essential skill in the process of knowledge aqusition,while,effective reading ability is the outcome of the good combination of both time and skills.The differences between good readers and poor reader will be studied in terms of comparisons towards their reading speed,efficiency and reasons behind in the domain of psychological perspectives.

An Analysis of the Readers' Roles in the Construction of Meaning in John Donne's The Flea under Reader-Oriented Theory

Among the sundry studies in China on John Donne's The Flea,there has been none done from the perspective of Reader-Oriented Theory to probe into the readers' roles in the construction of meaning.The present article under Wolfgang Iser's theories,in a further pursuit of the expansion of the gestalt of such studies on the poem,aims at exploring the readers' active roles in complementing,completing and recreating the textual meaning,and differentiating the implied reader and the actual reader through the poem as well as attempting to fulfill the construction of the reading cognitive model through the interpretation of the conceit the flea.

A Study on the Interaction Between The Catcher in the Rye and the Readers From the Perspective of Iser’s Reader-Response

The Catcher in the Rye has been popular with readers since its publication,and critics at home and abroad have also conducted a lot of research on it.But they mainly proceed from the author and the text to evaluate and analyze,ignoring the readers who are essential participants in text interpretation in the eyes of reader-response critics.In order to make up for this shortcoming,this article will take Iser’s reader-response criticism as a research perspective,starting from the three aspects of implied reader,response-inviting structure,and gaps to explore the interaction between the text of The Catcher in the Rye and the readers during the reading process.This research is expected to provide a new interpretation of this novel and provide reference for future research in related fields.

A Study on the Acceptance of the English Translation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Overseas Readers Based on Python Data Analysis Technology

Paperless reading has become a prevalent trend among global readers,leading to the accumulation of vast amounts of reading data on numerous book websites.This offers new perspectives for studying translated works.This paper utilizes Python-based data processing technology to collect and analyze reader reviews of Romance of the Three Kingdoms on Amazon and Goodreads,presenting trends in review volume,word cloud maps,and readers’emotional attitudes in a quantitative manner.The findings indicate that overseas readers generally exhibit a positive emotional tendency towards Romance of the Three Kingdoms and recognize its cultural value.However,negative opinions do exist,focusing on aspects of the book’s quality,such as printing quality and proofreading.These results provide valuable insights for the foreign translation of canonical texts.

Assessing Text-grading of the Introduced Graded Readers in China

An increasing number of graded readers thus come out for pedagogical purposes. However, the reliability of text-grading for graded readers remains questionable. Whether they show linguistic difference across levels needs further research given a shifted emphasis on multidimensional features. The study used Co-Metrix to give an assessment on graded readers’text-grading both under unidimensional and multidimensional indices, providing a testimony to publishers’original design and to the feasibility against the new trend. It indicated that across-grade difference only partly corresponded with publishers’text-grading rationale that focused on surface features. But it made no sense in linguistics at a deeper level since no overall difference was found. Therefore, the reassessment and design of graded readers were suggested to take account of multidimensional features for across-grade difference.

Use of the “Veda-Lab Easy Reader+” for the Determination of T3, T4 and TSH Hormones in the Mountainous Population of Benin: Case of Natitingou

The thyroid, an endocrine gland located at the base of the neck, produces thyroid hormones (triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4)). The production of these hormones is possible by iodine and other nutrients such as selenium and certain vitamins. To assess the thyroid disturbances in the mountain population of Benin, a survey was conducted in Natitingou, a mountain town located in the department of Atacora, in the northwest of Benin, on a sample of thirty (30) adults (15 men and 15 women), most of whom are educated. The results of the questionnaire revealed that 43% of the surveyed population acknowledged having knowledge on the mentioned subject and have dietary habits based on the consumption of seafood, and also legumes (20%). The examination of the serum results of the dosage of T3, T4 and TSH hormones revealed cases of thyroid disturbances in the region (36.32% in men and 44.98% in women). The analysis of a comparative table including the “VEDALAB Easy Reader+” and five (05) other readers, presents the performance, reading techniques, principles, advantages and disadvantages of each device. Pending further studies, some recommendations were made at the end of this study to the academic authorities regarding probable cases of dysthyroidism for which additional examinations are required and an awareness for the improvement of dietary habits.

Analysis and Design of a Quadrature Down-Conversion Mixer for UHF RFID Readers

A quadrature mixer with a shared transconductor stage is analyzed,including voltage conversion gain, linearity, noise figure, and image rejection. The analysis indicates it has better performance than a conventional Gilbert mixer pair in commutating mode. A quadrature down-conversion mixer based on this topology is designed and optimized for an ultra high frequency RFID reader. Operating in the 915MHz ISM band, the presented quadrature mixer measures a conversion gain of 12.5dB,an IIP3 of 10dBm, an IIP2 of 58dBm, and an SSB noise figure of 17.6riB. The chip was fabricated in a 0. 18μm 1P6M RF CMOS process and consumes only 3mA of current from a 1.8V power supply.

On the Theme of Coexistence of Opposites in The Left Hand of Darkness

As one of the best-known literary works of the American novelist Ursula K.Le Guin,The Left Hand of Darkness is not only successful in its splendid plots and beautiful language but also in the important function of its readers in reading.In the thesis,one of its themes,coexistence of opposites,is analyzed in the reader response perspective in order to reveal Le Guin's reader-consciousness.The theme exists on a higher level in the novel and expresses Le Guin's attitude towards life and universe.Le Guin unified her own philosophy in the novel and tried to call for the reader's resonance.

The Innocent in the Strange World——The Application of Reader Theoryin the Interpretation of Daisy Miller

Henry James' s first novella Daisy Miller brought him popularity and literary reputation after its publication. Through the application of reader theory and a close reading of the text, this article analyzes Daisy's strong personality and her misfortunes during her trip to Europe, and reveals how the novella highlights the conflict between American frankness and innocence and European sophistication. Besides, this article also elaborates on James' unique artistic skills—central consciousness and psychological analysis through his choice of narrative point of view, which contribute to the theme and the artistic charm of DaisyMiller.

Sensitivity and inter-observer variability for capsule endoscopy image analysis in a cohort of novice readers

AIM： To determine the performance of novice readers （4^th year medical students） for detecting capsule endoscopy findings. METHODS： Ten capsule endoscopy cases of small bowel lesions were administered to the readers. Gold standard findings were pre-defined by gastroenterologists. Ten gold standard ＂targets＂ were identified among the 10 cases. Readers were given a 30-min overview of Rapid Reader software and instructed to mark any potential areas of abnormalities. A software program was developed using SAS to analyze the thumbnailed findings. RESULTS： The overall sensitivity for detecting the gold standard findings was 80%. As a group, at least 5 out of 10 readers detected each gold standard finding per recording. All the gold standard targets were identified when the readers＇ results were combined. Incidental finding/false positive rate ranged between 8.2-59.8 per reader. CONCLUSION： A panel of medical students with minimal endoscopic experience can achieve high sensitivity in detecting lesions on capsule endoscopy. A group of novice readers can pre-screen recordings to thumbnail potential areas of small bowel lesions for further review. These thumbnails must be reviewed to determine the clinical relevance. Further studies are ongoing to assess other cohorts.

Epigenetic combined with transcriptomic analysis of the m6A methylome after spared nerve injury-induced neuropathic pain in mice

Epigenetic changes in the spinal cord play a key role in the initiation and maintenance of nerve injury-induced neuro pathic pain.N6-methyladenosine(m6A)is one of the most abundant internal RNA modifications and plays an essential function in gene regulation in many diseases.However,the global m6A modification status of mRNA in the spinal cord at different stages after neuropathic pain is unknown.In this study,we established a neuropathic pain model in mice by preserving the complete sural nerve and only damaging the common peroneal nerve.High-throughput methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing res ults showed that after spared nerve injury,there were 55 m6A methylated and diffe rentially expressed genes in the spinal cord.Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway results showed that m6A modification triggered inflammatory responses and apoptotic processes in the early stages after spared nerve injury.Over time,the diffe rential gene function at postoperative day 7 was enriched in "positive regulation of neurogenesis" and "positive regulation of neural precursor cell prolife ration." These functions suggested that altered synaptic morphological plasticity was a turning point in neuropathic pain formation and maintenance.Results at postoperative day 14 suggested that the persistence of neuropathic pain might be from lipid metabolic processes,such as "very-low-density lipoprotein particle clearance," "negative regulation of choleste rol transport" and "membrane lipid catabolic process." We detected the expression of m6A enzymes and found elevated mRNA expression of Ythdf2 and Ythdf3 after spared nerve injury modeling.We speculate that m6A reader enzymes also have an important role in neuropathic pain.These results provide a global landscape of mRNA m6A modifications in the spinal cord in the spared nerve injury model at diffe rent stages after injury.
