Phases of Environmental Evolution Indicated by Primary Chemical Elements and Paleontological Records in the Upper Pleistocene-Holocene Series for the Salawusu River Valley,China

Studies of lithology, sedimentary facies and the distribution regularity of SiO2 and Al2O3 contents and Al2O3/SiO2 ratio allow us to divide the Upper Pleistocene-Holocene Series represented by the MUanggouwan section in China＇s Salawnsu River valley into six segments： MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, MGS5 and MGS6. The boundary ages for MGS1 （the Dishaogouwan and Dagouwan Formations）, MGS2 （the upper Chengchuan Formation）, MGS3 （the middle Chengchuan Formation）, MGS4 （the lower Chengchuan Formation）, MGS5 （most strata of the Salawusu Formation） and MGS6 （the bottom of the Salawusu Formation and the top of the Lishi Formation） correspond to those of MIS1, MIS2, MIS3, MIS4, MISS and MIS6, respectively, from deep sea sediments or continental glaciers. MGS5 can be subdivided into five subsegments （MGS5a, MGS5b, MGS5c, MGS5d and MGS5e） and the boundary ages of these subsegments correspond to those of MISSa, MISSb, MIS5c, MIS5d and MIS5e, respectively. Based on the paleoenvironment and paleoecology indicated by the primary chemical elements, fossil vertebrates, mollusks and pollen grains, we hypothesize that MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, MGS5 and MGS6 and the subsegments of MGS5 match the corresponding stages for oxygen isotopes in the deep sea sediments and continental glaciers, and the substages of MIS5 in terms of climatic characters, further explaining the phenomena that determined the formation of the late Quaternary strata and the paleontology of the Salawusu River valley. These phenomena relate to fluctuations in the global climate （and particularly in the East Asian monsoon） during the glacial and interglacial periods.

New host and locality records of snake intestinal nematode Kalicephalus spp in Indonesia

Objective:To observe three species of Kalicephalus found in three species of snake(Ophkphagus hannah,Ptyas mucosus,and Naja Sputatrix) during research on Capture Snake for Trading in Java and Snake Biodiversity in Kalimantan Islands.Methods:Specimens for light microscopy examination were fixed with warm 70%alcohol,cleared and mounted in lactophenol for wet mounting.Drawings were made with the aid of a drawing tube attached to a Nikon compound microscope.Measurements were given in micrometers(μ) as the average of findings,followed by the range in parentheses,unless otherwise stated.Results:Kalkephalus(Costatus) indicus was found from 7 Ptyas mucosus,Kalicephalus bungari from 2 Naja sputatrix and 1 Kalicephalus(Costatus) indicus and Kalicephalus assimilis found from 1 Ophiophagus hannah.The morphology and measurement of three species of Kalicephalus found in this study were close to those described before.Conclusions:New finding of host of Kalicephalus(Costalus) indicus and Kalicephalus bungari was a snake species of Naja sputatrix.New records of locality were Kalimantan island as the new locality of Kalicephalus assimilis,and Java island was new locality of Kalicephalus(Costatus) indicus.

New Records of Genus Oncocephalus (Hemiptera: Reduviidae: Stenopodainae) from Cambodia

The stenopodaine genus Oncocephalus Klug, 1850 and two species of this genus, O. breviscutum Reuter, 1882 and O. pudicus Hsiao, are recorded from Cambodia for the first time.

Three new records of lycopsids and ferns from Vietnam

Three new records from Vietnam,Phlegmariurus guangdongensis Ching,Adiantum longzhouensis A.H.Wang,F.G.Wang&F.W.Xing,and Lepisorus bicolor Ching,are reported.The identification characteristics,information of specimen,and geographical distribution of the species are described.The discovery of new records not only enriches the study of plant diversity in Vietnam,but also provides important information for biodiversity conservation and botanical research in the region.The voucher specimens are kept in the Herbarium of Kunming Institute of Botany,Chinese Academy of Sciences(KUN),Herbarium of Institute of Botany,Chinese Academy of Sciences(PE)and Herbarium of Guangxi Forestry Research Institute(GXFI).

Three new records of Lumbrineridae Schmarda,1861(Annelida:Polychaeta)species in China

Three species of Lumbrineridae, Helmutnerisflabellicola （Fage, 1936）, Lurnbrinerides dayi Perkins, 1979, and Ninoe japonica Imajima ＆ Higuchi, 1975, are reported from the material collected between 1959 and 1994 from the Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea. These species are not previously recorded from Chinese waters. Systematic descriptions and morphological illustrations of the species are provided in this paper.

Machine learning for carbonate formation drilling: Mud loss prediction using seismic attributes and mud loss records

Due to the complexity and variability of carbonate formation leakage zones, lost circulation prediction and control is one of the major challenges of carbonate drilling. It raises well-control risks and production expenses. This research utilizes the H oilfield as an example, employs seismic features to analyze mud loss prediction, and produces a complete set of pre-drilling mud loss prediction solutions. Firstly, 16seismic attributes are calculated based on the post-stack seismic data, and the mud loss rate per unit footage is specified. The sample set is constructed by extracting each attribute from the seismic trace surrounding 15 typical wells, with a ratio of 8:2 between the training set and the test set. With the calibration results for mud loss rate per unit footage, the nonlinear mapping relationship between seismic attributes and mud loss rate per unit size is established using the mixed density network model.Then, the influence of the number of sub-Gausses and the uncertainty coefficient on the model's prediction is evaluated. Finally, the model is used in conjunction with downhole drilling conditions to assess the risk of mud loss in various layers and along the wellbore trajectory. The study demonstrates that the mean relative errors of the model for training data and test data are 6.9% and 7.5%, respectively, and that R2is 90% and 88%, respectively, for training data and test data. The accuracy and efficacy of mud loss prediction may be greatly enhanced by combining 16 seismic attributes with the mud loss rate per unit footage and applying machine learning methods. The mud loss prediction model based on the MDN model can not only predict the mud loss rate but also objectively evaluate the prediction based on the quality of the data and the model.

Impact of Laboratory Value Flowsheet in Electronic Health Record (EHR) Documentation Time

Research on the use of EHR is contradictory since it presents contradicting results regarding the time spent documenting. There is research that supports the use of electronic records as a tool to speed documentation;and research that found that it is time consuming. The purpose of this quantitative retrospective before-after project was to measure the impact of using the laboratory value flowsheet within the EHR on documentation time. The research question was: “Does the use of a laboratory value flowsheet in the EHR impact documentation time by primary care providers (PCPs)?” The theoretical framework utilized in this project was the Donabedian Model. The population in this research was the two PCPs in a small primary care clinic in the northwest of Puerto Rico. The sample was composed of all the encounters during the months of October 2019 and December 2019. The data was obtained through data mining and analyzed using SPSS 27. The evaluative outcome of this project is that there is a decrease in documentation time after implementation of the use of the laboratory value flowsheet in the EHR. However, patients per day increase therefore having an impact on the number of patients seen per day/week/month. The implications for clinical practice include the use of templates to improve workflow and documentation as well as decreasing documentation time while also increasing the number of patients seen per day. .

Rapid hologram generation through backward ray tracing and adaptive-resolution wavefront recording plane

An advanced method for rapidly computing holograms of large three-dimensional(3D)objects combines backward ray tracing with adaptive resolution wavefront recording plane(WRP)and adaptive angular spectrum propagation.In the initial phase,a WRP with adjustable resolution and sampling interval based on the object’s size is defined to capture detailed information from large 3D objects.The second phase employs an adaptive angular spectrum method(ASM)to efficiently compute the propagation from the large-sized WRP to the small-sized computer-generated hologram(CGH).The computation process is accelerated using CUDA and OptiX.Optical experiments confirm that the algorithm can generate high-quality holograms with shadow and occlusion effects at a resolution of 1024×1024 in 29 ms.

Case Records as Medical Stories: A Song-dynasty Doctor’s Narration of His Own Medicine-Xu Shuwei (1080-1154)

The key point in studying or teaching the history of Chinese medicine is on the doctrines underlying it and on its perception of the body,physiology,pathology,and its treatment.Namely,there is often a tendency to focus on reading and analysing the classical canons and therapy-related texts including formularies and materia medica collections.However,focusing on these sources provides us with a one-sided presentation of Chinese medicine.These primary sources lack the clinical down-to-earth know-how that encompasses medical treatment,which are represented,for instance,in the clinical rounds of modern medical schools.Our traditional focus on the medical canons and formularies provides almost no clinical knowledge,leaving us with a one-sided narrative that ignores how medicine and healing are actually practiced in the field.This paper focuses on the latter aspect of medicine from a historical perspective.Using written and visual sources dating to the Song dynasty,clinical encounters between doctors and patients including their families are depicted based on case records recorded by a physician,members of the patient’s family,and bystanders.This array of case records or case stories will enable us to narrate the interaction between physicians and patients both from the clinical perspective and from the social interaction.This paper will also discuss visual depictions of the medical encounter to provide another perspective for narrating medicine during the Song dynasty.Medical case records and paintings depicting medical encounters are exemplary of the potential of Chinese primary sources for narrative medicine.

Hyperledger Fabric Blockchain: Secure and Efficient Solution for Electronic Health Records

Background:Electronic Health Record(EHR)systems are used as an efficient and effective technique for sharing patient’s health records among different hospitals and various other key stakeholders of the healthcare industry to achieve better diagnosis and treatment of patients globally.However,the existing EHR systems mostly lack in providing appropriate security,entrusted access control and handling privacy and secrecy issues and challenges in current hospital infrastructures.Objective:To solve this delicate problem,we propose a Blockchain-enabled Hyperledger Fabric Architecture for different EHR systems.Methodology:In our EHR blockchain system,Peer nodes from various organizations(stakeholders)create a ledger network,where channels are created to enable secure and private communication between different stakeholders on the ledger network.Individual patients and other stakeholders are identified and registered on the network by unique digital certificates issued by membership service provider(MSP)component of the fabric architecture.Results:We created and implemented different Chaincodes to handle the business logic for executing separate EHR transactions on the network.The proposed fabric architecture provides a secure,transparent and immutable mechanism to store,share and exchange EHRs in a peer-to-peer network of different healthcare stakeholders.It ensures interoperability,scalability and availability in adapting the existing EHRs for strengthening and providing an effective and secure method to integrate and manage patient records among medical institutions in the healthcare ecosystem.

The Development of the “Monitoring Application for Inappropriate Expressions in Nursing Records”for PsyNACS©

Lengthening periods of hospitalization, increasing numbers of patients with age-related complications, and a shortage of nursing staff have been of great concern in medical psychiatry in Japan. Under these circumstances, countries such as Japan that face a super-aging society and a decline in the working-age population, have been recommended for use of advanced information and communications technology (ICT) to improve the efficiency of medical treatment and care. This study aims to develop the “Monitoring Application for Inappropriate Expressions in Nursing Records” for using PsyNACS©, which will enable psychiatric nursing plans to harness the advantages of ICT. The functions considered necessary are as follows: 1) identification of users who enter information;2) a necessary database for lists of inappropriate expressions;3) development of a matching function to recommend proper writing input and a warning function;and 4) a management function for an inappropriate expression list database. A demonstration experiment for developing the application in this study was conducted at a specialized psychiatric hospital. To introduce them to the application, nurses and nurse managers were informed about the system developed in this study, and a survey regarding their opinions on the functions of the application was conducted with ten nurse managers. The results were evaluated in terms of usefulness for nursing care, documentation, and the education of nurses from an ethical perspective. This study suggests that matching their input with an inappropriate expression database will allow nurses to record more appropriate expressions. From an ethical perspective, the ability to use appropriate expressions makes records more likely to withstand disclosure requests from patients and their families.

New records of a genus and a species of Neritidae (Mollusca:Gastropoda:Cycloneritimorpha) from the South China Sea

A neritid species Vittina pennata （von Born, 1778） is reported for the first time from the South China Sea. This is also the first report of this genus from Chinese waters. The specimen was collected from the Sanya Harbor, Hainan Province, China and deposited in Marine Biological Museum, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Detailed descriptions of its shell feature are presented. Differences between this species, Vittina coromandeliana and Neritina pulligera are compared and discussed.

Three New Records of Gastropoda(Mollusca) from the Nansha Islands,China

The Nansha Islands, China, have extremely high marine biodiversity and hundreds of mollusks have been reported there. Benthos resources investigations of the intertidal and subtidal zone around the Nansha Islands have been continuously performed for decades, and recently, dozens of new species and new records of mollusks have been reported from this area. This paper dealt with three new record species of the Gastropoda from Chinese waters: Cerithium salebrosum Sowerby II, 1855, Vexillum militare(Reeve, 1845) and Vexillum bizonale(Dautzenberg et Bouge, 1923), respectively belonging to three families: Cerithiidae Fleming, 1822, and Costellariidae Mac Donald, 1860. All specimens were collected from the Nansha Islands during the benthos resources investigations on the intertidal zone of islands and reefs in the South China Sea in recent years. Diagnosis and geographic descriptions of both genus and species, illustrations of each species were given in this contribution, and discussion of taxonomy, identification features and faunal characteristics were presented. All examined specimens were deposited in the Marine Biodiversity Collections of South China Sea, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The European Source of Firearm Knowledge in Bing lu (Records of Military Art)

European firearms entered China from the sixteenth century and played a significant role in the warfare of the Ming and Qing dynasties.Some Chinese military books,which include contents on European firearms,appeared in the early seventeenth century and helped to expand the weapons’influence.Certain parts in these books concerning European artilleries are highly similar,indicating that they might have been extracted from a mutual source.Bing lu兵錄(Records of military art)is a typical example of such Chinese military treatises.Its illustrations and data demonstrate that Pratica manuale di arteglieria written by Luys Collado in 1586 is an important source of the Western knowledge in certain chapters of Bing lu.

first records of tropiocolotes steudneri peters, 1869 and hemidactylus flaviviridis riippell, 1840 (sauria: gekkonidae)from fars province, iran

Steudner’s dwarf gecko,Tropiocolotes steudneri(Peters,1869) and the yellow-bellied house gecko,Hemidactylus flaviviridis Rüppell,1840 were recorded for the first time from Fars Province in southern Iran.During a herpetofaunal survey in November 2006,a single subadult specimen of T.steudneri was collected from Deh Kohneh in southwestern Fars.In November 2007 and May 2008,two specimens of H.flaviviridis were collected from Ghaleh Seied in western Fars,respectively.The collection locations of the two new records are well outside the known distribution ranges of the two species in Iran.
