Whitecapping plays an important role in many air-sea exchange and upper ocean processes.Traditionally, whitecap coverage is parameterized as a function of wind speed only.At present, the relative speed of ocean current to wind is considered to be important in the air-sea exchange parameterization which is the function of wind speed only.In this paper, the effects of ocean surface velocity (current velocity and wave induced velocity) and the wave parameters on whitecap coverage through relative speeds are investigated,by applying a 2-parameter whitecap coverage model to the Atlantic Ocean. It is found that the impacts of both current and wave on whitecap coverage are considerable in the most part of the Atlantic Ocean. It is interesting that the effect of wave is more significant than that of current. 展开更多

Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) has emerged as a new wireless network for vehicular communications. To provide a flexible and high reliable communication service in VANET, vehicles are clustered to construct many small networks (clusters) so that channel interferences and flooding messages can be limited. This research presents a novel Multi-Resolution Relative Speed Detection (MRSD) model to improve the clustering algorithm in VANET without using Global Positioning System (GPS). MRSD uses the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), the Momentum of Received Signal Strength (MRSS), and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to estimate the motion state and the relative speed of a vehicle based purely on Received Signal Strength. The proposed MRSD model is accurate with the assistance of the intelligent classification, and incurs less overhead in the cluster head election than that of other algorithms. 展开更多

This paper addresses the clustering problem for mobile ad hoc networks. In the proposed scheme, Doppler shift associated with received signals is used to estimate the relative speed between aelnster head and its members. With the estimated speed, a node can predict its stay time in every nearby cluster. In the initial clustering stage, a node joins a duster that can provide it with the longest stay time in order to reduce the number of re-affiliations. In the cluster maintaining stage, strategies are designed to help node cope with connection break caused by channel fading and node mobility. Simulation results show that the proposed clustering scheme can reduce the number of re-affiliations and the average disconnection time compared with previous schemes. 展开更多

The launch shudder phenomenon induced by self-excited vibration of driveline was stud- ied with a compact car equipped with AMT as research object. The research showed that self-excited vibration was closely related with damping of driveline, the variation of friction coefficient, equiva- lent radius of friction plate and applied force of pressure plate. Six DOFs torsional vibration model of vehicle driveline was established according to the parameters of the certain compact car. The simula- tion was carried out and the result was compared with test data. It was found that the negative slope of friction coefficient with relative slip speed does not necessarily lead to self-excited vibration and the frequency of self-excited vibration on 1st gear is near to the 1st order of torsional natural frequen- cy. The influence of each viscous damping in driveline on self-excited vibration was analyzed by sim- ulation and the results showed that increasing the torsional dampings of half-axles and tires properly was effective to improve launch shudder phenomenon. 展开更多
