Value Orientation and Dimension Expansion of City Image Communication: A Case Study of Chengdu

The image of a city embodies its fundamental values and unique characteristics,representing the essence of its urban culture and spirit.It is considered to be one of the most valuable intangible assets of a city and serves as a crucial driving force for its ongoing development.Taking Chengdu as an example,this paper conducted a comprehensive analysis of Chengdu’s city image communication strategy through various dimensions,such as the city’s value orientation and modes of communication.First,it was necessary to explore the image resources of Chengdu,and based on this,the urban value orientation of“Man-Chengdu,”an extensive strategy used by Chengdu to better communicate its culture,was proposed to facilitate image communication.Second,it was necessary to expand the dimensions of Chengdu’s city image communication.This was achieved by building a resource pool of city image elements,leveraging major media events to promote communication and enhancing the correlation between content and channel platforms.Moreover,efforts were also made to develop people-oriented narrative strategies and give full play to the advantages of new technologies to form an integrated communication mode.Finally,it was crucial to bridge the official and folk communication systems to enable multiple subjects to share Chengdu’s stories from diverse perspectives,thus improving the breadth and validity of Chengdu’s image communication.

Landscape Planning and Design of Urban Park from the Perspective of City Image

The image of the city put forward by Kevin Lynch was applied in the landscape planning and design of urban park in this study.By analyzing the 5 dominant elements in the image of the city,i.e.paths,edges,districts,nodes and landmarks,the concrete application scale of these elements in urban park planning were discussed.

Public Diplomacy and Beijing City Image Research From Major International Sporting Events Perspective

This paper focuses on Beijing as the host city for the major international sporting events and its influence on the city image building of Beijing. Major international sporting events are the key channels for the exchange and dissemination of information among athletes from various countries, media coverages, national and international audiences which involves interpersonal communication, organizational communication, and mass communication at all levels. At the same time, the volunteers, especially young volunteers （mostly college student volunteers） considered as the Beijing city spokesperson and also as a group of ＂public diplomacy ambassadors＂, transfer positive energy in international communication during major international sporting events. Therefore, major international sporting events held in Beijing play an irreplaceable role in the image building of the capital city of China, Beijing.

Computational Intelligence Driven Secure Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Image Classification in Smart City Environment

Computational intelligence(CI)is a group of nature-simulated computationalmodels and processes for addressing difficult real-life problems.The CI is useful in the UAV domain as it produces efficient,precise,and rapid solutions.Besides,unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)developed a hot research topic in the smart city environment.Despite the benefits of UAVs,security remains a major challenging issue.In addition,deep learning(DL)enabled image classification is useful for several applications such as land cover classification,smart buildings,etc.This paper proposes novel meta-heuristics with a deep learning-driven secure UAV image classification(MDLS-UAVIC)model in a smart city environment.Themajor purpose of the MDLS-UAVIC algorithm is to securely encrypt the images and classify them into distinct class labels.The proposedMDLS-UAVIC model follows a two-stage process:encryption and image classification.The encryption technique for image encryption effectively encrypts the UAV images.Next,the image classification process involves anXception-based deep convolutional neural network for the feature extraction process.Finally,shuffled shepherd optimization(SSO)with a recurrent neural network(RNN)model is applied for UAV image classification,showing the novelty of the work.The experimental validation of the MDLS-UAVIC approach is tested utilizing a benchmark dataset,and the outcomes are examined in various measures.It achieved a high accuracy of 98%.

The Problems and Upgrade Strategies for City Symbolic Image of Yibin in Sichuan Province

The connotation of city symbolic image was redefined in this study.Based on this,the main shortages of Yibin City symbolic image were listed and analyzed with an emphasis.And then the specific strategies to improve intrinsic image and symbolic image of the city were proposed with a pertinence,so as to provide reference for establishment of Yibin City symbolic image and development of export-oriented economy.

Unification and Harmonization in True Color Image City Map

True color image city map is a sort of new-style map which combines the high resolution image and map symbols and shows both advantages in visualization. At the same time, the map unification and harmonization should be taken into account dur-ing the design process, since some visual conflicts appear when map symbols overlaid on the true color image. The objective of this research is to explore the rules in the process of true color image city map design based on chromatic and aesthetic knowledge. At the end, taking the Image Atlas of Guangzhou as an example, image color adjustment, road network presentation, and symbol de-signing issues will be discussed in the application.

Analysis of Land Use Change and Driving Force of Bole City Based on Remote Sensing Image

[Objectives] The land use change and its influence has been the frontier and hotspot in the research of the surface process of change. The aim of this study was to provide a reasonable scientific basis for the more reasonable use of regional land resources of Bole City by study of land use change and driving force of Bole City.[Methods] Through geometric correction, image mosaic and image registration processing and classification of the remote sensing images of Bole City in 2006, 2011 and 2016, the three images of land use change in land use types （land use change range, dynamic degree and variation degree） were studied, and the natural and social economy in terms of the driving forces of land use change were analyzed.[Results] In the 2006 to 2016 period, cultivated land of Bole City had the land use dynamic growth state, and the average growth rate was 0.26%; and forest land, construction land, water, grassland and unused land showed a decreasing trend, decreased by 0.23%, 0.22%, 0.75%, 3.85% and 1.52%, respectively. In the entire study period, the change of grassland was the biggest, the changes of unused land and water were the second, and the changes of cultivated land, construction land and forest land were lesser.[Conclusions] The main driving factors that effected on land use change of the study area were climate, industrialization, urbanization, social and economic activities, adjustment of agricultural structure and population expansion.

Continuation of Space Image in Renovation of Ancient City——A Case Study of Renovation of Ancient Changshu City, China

Significance of continuing traditional space image in the renovation of ancient city was analyzed. Taking the renovation of ancient Changshu City for example, traditional spatial characteristics of the ancient city were summarized, and urban design techniques for continuing its space image were further explored. It was stressed that characteristic spatial structures should be continued, original spatial scales and ratios protected, so as to maintain integrality and unity of spatial interfaces.

City Image in Ancient Chinese Local Chronicles: A Case Study of Upper Reaches of the Hanjiang River Valley

Taking the local chronicles of 18 counties in Hanzhong Prefecture and Xing'an Prefecture in upper reaches of the Hanjiang River Valley in Qing Dynasty, this paper tried to analyze the city map and the impression of ancient people about the traditional cities using the image element concept of Kevin Lynch. From comparing the city maps and text description, it summarized the important cognitive concept of "orientation", so as to better understand the relationship between space and society in traditional cities.

Analysis of Urban Greening of Tai'an City in China Based on Remote Sensing Image with High Resolution

By taking urban greening of Tai'an City of Shandong Province for example,selecting remote sensing image Quickbird with high resolution,and combining visual interpretation with automatic classification of the computer,based on urban green space systematic planning map,green space information of the built-up area has been selected for the research centering on green lands in urban parks,productive green lands,green lands attached to residential areas and units,green lands attached to the road,other green lands,water surfaces and so on.Through the statistics and analysis,the distribution condition of each type of urban green land has been obtained,and some suggestions have been proposed in view of existing problems of urban greening.It should enhance the construction of green lands in urban parks,residential areas and units,improve road greening level,implement vertical greening,increase the area of productive green lands and fully make use of idle lands.

Images of Green Landscapes in Huadu District, Guangzhou City

Urban landscape, as an important part of the overall landscape or the overall image of the city, is of great significance in highlighting city features, building green cities, and improving city image, so image of green spaces has become one of the key construction objectives for many cities. Taking Huadu District in Guangzhou City for example, urban green landscape pattern was analyzed from the level of region and district, according to the landscape ecology. The results showed that local green landscapes had many problems such as unreasonable structure, high fragmentation, unbalanced distribution of green space types, poor corridor networks etc.. In view of these problems, countermeasures for improving green landscape images in Huadu District were proposed.

Searching Images of Kengtung: An Old Walled City Town

Geopolitically Kengtung region was located in a most strategic place in Myanmar. It shares borders with China on the north and Thailand on the east. Kengtung is a place which forms a significant historical site in the easternmost part of Myanmar. From the geopolitical point of view, the region was located in a most strategic place. Its situation forced to safeguard the region. The town lies on a critical point of Myanmar’s defences. The restriction of exacting money as a yearly tribute did not concern for Kengtung. The tradition of paying homage was appeased to the King. The ruling Sawbwa which achieved the valuable return presents of the Burmese King. Kengtung came in the first class, and was the most important of the Myanmar’s possessions east of the Thanlwin River. Its position may be roughly judged by the tribute paid to the King and the contigent it was bound to supply to the royal army. Therefore, Kengtung was very important for the security of Myanmar’s eastern frontier during the Konbaung period. It was like a small Union within an Empire together with multinational races of Myanmar. A good deed of past events blanket over the town till today.
