Taking the academic association of the Federation of Life Science Research and Innovation of the College of Life Science and Biotechnology of Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University as the research platform,it is necessary to organically combine personalized education with the cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial ability.On the basis of unified teaching ideas,we should pay attention to the individual differences of educational objects,eliminate the disadvantages of traditional education,and break the conventional"spoon-feeding"teaching mode.It is necessary to shift from only paying attention to one-way indoctrination to paying attention to the cultivation of students'innovative quality,and to enhance students'interest in scientific research and practical ability of innovation and entrepreneurship through the rich scientific research activities of academic associations.

Towards Innovative Research Approaches to Investigating the Role of Emotional Variables in Promoting Language Teachers’ and Learners’ Mental Health

The adequacy of language education largely depends on the favorable and unfavorable emotions that teachers and students experience throughout the education process.Simply said,emotional factors play a key role in improving the quality of language teaching and learning.Furthermore,these emotional factors also promote the well-being of language teachers and learners and place them in a suitable mental condition.In view of the favorable impact of emotional factors on the mental health of language teachers and learners,many educational scholars around the world have studied these factors,their background,and their pedagogical consequences.Nonetheless,the majority of previous studies have employed traditional research methods in assessing these variables and their influences on language teachers’and learners’mental health.Because of the complex and dynamic quality of emotional factors,traditional research approaches often fail to evaluate these factors and their dynamic,non-linear connections with teachers’and learners’mental health and well-being.Accordingly,some novel research approaches are required to measure the dynamicity and complexity of emotional factors in language education settings.To address this call,the current state-of-the-art conceptual article seeks to provide new insights for investigating emotional factors and their potential impact on language teachers’and learners’mental states.This study also intends to offer a comprehensive list of emerging methods that take into account the complex and dynamic nature of emotional variables.Finally,the study outlines the potential implications of this review for educational researchers.

Keyword Co-occurrence Analysis of Research on Innovation Ecosystem Studies

The aim of the paper is to identify and explore leading thematic areas within the research field related to innovation ecosystem.Based on data from the Web of Science database,the keywords frequency and its co-occurrence frequency pair were analyzed,and the theory of mapping knowledge domains was used to visualize the keywords co-occurrence network in innovation ecosystem to make further research of the heated issues.The findings indicate that the research scope involved in innovation ecosystem research is broad,and research content focus on micro and macro levels.According to the results of keywords co-occurrence analysis of different stages,innovation,network,knowledge,strategy,open innovation,value creation are the most important issues to innovation ecosystem research,given their position and role in the research network.The paper generates the added value mainly from the point of view of theory development.

Research on Subject Areas of Innovation Ecosystem: A Discipline Co-occurrence Analysis

Based on data from the Web of Science database,co-occurrence analysis and network visualization technique were conducted to explore the structure and patterns of interdisciplinary collaborations in innovation ecosystem research.This study presented the descriptive statistics of disciplines involved in relative research and interdisciplinary network over time.The results suggested that the scope of disciplines involved in innovation ecosystem research is broad and the distribution is unbalanced.Management and business are the core subject area while Regional&Urban Planning,Environmental Studies,and Environmental Sciences are playing key role in research and practices.

The bio-interactions between plants,insecticides and fertilizers:an innovative approach for the research of xenobiotic substances

In this experiment carried out on Caribbean chili pepper plants(Capsicum chinensis),the bio-insecticide azadirachtin in combination with an NPK fertilizer proved to have a greater lethal impact on the larvae of Aedes albopictus than each substance on its own.This synergistic effect is noticeably important when both inputs are sprayed directly on the leaves of the plant(foliar application).While the plants treated with azadirachtin or NPK alone cause a 33.6%and 36.4%mortal-ity respectively of the Ae.albopictus larvae,the combination of the two inputs induces a 74.4%mortality on the mosquito larvae.To account for this synergistic effect phenomenon inside the plant,the azadirachtin+NPK combination most likely interacts with the capsaicinoid compounds naturally produced by the plant.Not only does this study carried out on azadirachtin reveal major results but the methodology itself offers a most interesting approach on how to boost the agricultural inputs within the plants.As a matter of fact,this research axis demands developing since the control of pests harmful to men has been dramatically lacking insecticide molecules acting on new targets over the past three decades.

Exploration of the“Three Transformations,Four Integrations,Five Expansions”Hybrid Teaching Path in Curriculum and Teaching Innovation Reform:A Case Study of the“Design Drawing A”Course

Using the“Design Drawing A”course as a case study,this paper addresses key challenges encountered in the learning process by adopting a“student-centered”approach rooted in outcome-based education.The course team proposes a blended teaching model defined by“three transformations,four integrations,and five expansions,”which places students at the core of the learning experience.Through a comprehensive restructuring of the curriculum and innovative teaching methods,elements of civic education-including national identity,rule of law,scientific inquiry,and philosophical reasoning-are effectively integrated into the classroom.This model broadens the teaching process across multiple dimensions and refines the evaluation approach to be both multi-dimensional and dynamic.As a result,the course’s blended teaching approach yields significant,innovative outcomes.

Responsible research and innovation training programmes:implementation and evaluation of the HEIRRI project

Responsible research and innovation,or RRI,is a concept that aims to bring together society and science for a better future.There are six key elements of RRI:public engagement,gender equality,science education,open access,ethics and governance.Higher Education Institutions and Responsible Research and Innovation(HEIRRI)project aimed to bring the concept of RRI into the educational system.Using state-of-the-art review of good practices,HEIRRI team developed 10 training programmes on RRI for different higher education institution educational levels,including a summer school and a massive open online course(MOOC).We conducted pilot of the trainings and evaluated participants’experiences.Satisfaction with HEIRRI training programmes on responsible research and innovation was high,both for participants and for the trainers,and trainings raised awareness of RRI.Participants’feedback was used to identify areas that need improvement and provided for recommendations for final versions of the HEIRRI training programmes.In order to equip researchers with skills to recognize and apply RRI values,RRI should be included in their education.HEIRRI training is suitable for a range of different disciplines,including forensic science,and is free to use and adjust for specific contexts(available from:https://rri-tools.eu/heirri-training-programmes).

Responsible Research and Innovation and Its Implications for China

Responsible research and innovation （RRI） represents a new evotvtng approach to governing research and innovation that takes into account potential impacts on the environment and society. Most published studies on RRI focus on the social benefits of research and innovation through examining RRI＇s definitions and approaches for its implementation. In contrast, the present study addresses the influence of RRI on economic growth, and discusses the situations in which RRI will benefit economies. Our study finds that for its implementation to be successful RRI needs to meet certain conditions, and that its implementation is not always beneficial to economic growth. To achieve a better result from RRI as part of an innovation policy, each country should balance the push and pull power of RRI to make sure that it becomes a building block rather than a stumbling block for innovation, economic growth and social welfare. To assure that RRI can be successfully implemented, China needs to strengthen and improve the participation mechanisms for stakeholders in major scientific and technological innovative activities.

Sustainable Futures： Comparing Methodologies for Analyzing Citizen Visions in Europe

There are increasing calls for engaging citizens in the development of future outlooks. At the same time, large-scale public engagement activities warrant appropriate methods for analyzing their outcomes. This paper reviews how topic modeling could provide such a methodology, which both accounts for all textual data collected in public engagement activities, however large in scope, yet also allows for meaningful topical analysis. It compares topic modeling results concerning a corpus of 179 citizen visions from 30 European countries on desirable and sustainable futures to those acquired through deliberative analysis. While both methodologies contend that European citizens＇ outlook consists of education, sustainability in the economy, health concerns, and fairness in communities, and the particular strengths of topic modeling relate to its documentability, repeatability, cost efficiency, and scalability. Topic modeling can also be considered to support public engagement analytically from the perspective of knowledge formation rather than that of common sense.

Review and Outlook of Chinese Innovation Research Since Reform and Opening-up

In order to enhance international scholars’understanding of the Chinese innovation research,this paper systematically reviewed the innovation research literature over the past 40 years since China’s reform and opening-up.The research progress of the Chinese innovation field is analyzed from the aspects of academic research team,research object,research methodology,research topic,contextualized depth and comparative investigation on Chinese and international innovation research.Research findings are as follows:in Chinese innovation field,three advanced research echelons have emerged together with numerous representative teams with distinctive focuses;enterprise level is the main research object,and the research on theories and countermeasures at the international level is being strengthened;quantitative research with multiple samples occupies the largest proportion,and the number of qualitative analysis is in an increasing trend;the hottest topics closely follow the change of innovation practice of China and update constantly;research in this field has presented the characteristics of increasingly contextualized depth;through the comparison with international mainstream research,Chinese innovation research presents evident differences and unique Chinese characteristics,and the international influence of Chinese innovation research remains to be enhanced.This paper also points out suggestions for future studies.First,innovation scholars should further develop the innovation theories rooted in Chinese indigenous context to increase the diversity of global innovation management knowledge.Second,it is necessary to attach importance to basic and frontier research,so as to obtain more recognition from international peers.

Politicizing Responsible Innovation:Responsibility as Inclusive Governance

This paper aims to provide the historical and conceptual bases underlying the inclusionary transition of European innovation policy,and critical analysis of the difficulties relating to the political nature of this transition.In the 50s and 60s of last century,linear innovation models operated on the basis of a clear division of roles among the different actors in innovation and fundamentally economistic‐based strategies.The following decades saw innovation policies progressively recognize the multi‐dimensional and complex nature of innovation and the need to make adjustments,but always in explicit response to the competitiveness imperative.More recent RRI(Responsible Research and Innovation)strategy within the European Union,in contrast,demands opening up the whole innovation process(including values and motivations)to collective decision,i.e.,approaching responsible innovation as inclusive innovation.This paper appraises this important development primarily on the basis of in‐depth analysis of the main policy literature on innovation,and also on the grounds of related academic literature.As a result,we conclude that the bid for collaboration models cohabits constitutively with another set of dynamics aimed at strengthening centralized and prescriptive forms of innovation.In other words,that inclusionary or political eagerness represented through RRI must grapple with the strategic imperative of competitiveness and economic development.Hence,fundamental tension exists,which should be elucidated in light of the objectives,demands and considerations that are integrated,and cease to be integrated,in innovation dynamics and trajectories.

Synthetic biology in the UK-An outline of plans and progress

Synthetic biology is capable of delivering new solutions to key challenges spanning the bioeconomy,both nationally and internationally.Recognising this significant potential and the associated need to facilitate its translation and commercialisation the UK government commissioned the production of a national Synthetic Biology Roadmap in 2011,and subsequently provided crucial support to assist its implementation.Critical infrastructural investments have been made,and important strides made towards the development of an effectively connected community of practitioners and interest groups.A number of Synthetic Biology Research Centres,DNA Synthesis Foundries,a Centre for Doctoral Training,and an Innovation Knowledge Centre have been established,creating a nationally distributed and integrated network of complementary facilities and expertise.The UK Synthetic Biology Leadership Council published a UK Synthetic Biology Strategic Plan in 2016,increasing focus on the processes of translation and commercialisation.Over 50 start-ups,SMEs and larger companies are actively engaged in synthetic biology in the UK,and inward investments are starting to flow.Together these initiatives provide an important foundation for stimulating innovation,actively contributing to international research and development partnerships,and helping deliver useful benefits from synthetic biology in response to local and global needs and challenges.

Exploring the social,ethical,legal,and responsibility dimensions of artificial intelligence for health-a new column in Intelligent Medicine

This essay is the starting point of a new column in Intelligent Medicine that invites interdisciplinary perspectives on the social,ethical,legal,and responsibility aspects of the use of artificial intelligence(AI)in medicine and health care.Papers in this column will examine the practical,conceptual,and policy dimensions of the use of AI for health-related purposes from comparative and international perspectives.We invite contributions from around the world in all application areas of AI for health,including health care,health research,drug development,health care system management,as well as public health and public health surveillance.The column aims to provide a forum for reflective and critical scholarship that contributes to the ongoing academic and policy debates about the development,use,governance,and implications of AI in medical and health care settings.To launch the column,we first provide an overview of recent approaches that have been developed to identify and address the effects and potential impacts of science and technology innovations on human societies and the environment.These include ethical,legal,and social implications/aspects(ELSI/A)research,responsible research and innovation(RRI),sustainability transitions research,and the use of international standard-setting instruments for responsible and open science issued by the United Nations Educational,Scientific,and Cultural Organization(UNESCO),the World Health Organization(WHO),and other international bodies.In Part Two of this essay,we discuss some of the central challenges that arise with regard to the integration of AI and big data analytics in medical and health care settings.This includes concerns regarding(i)the control,reliability,and trustworthiness of AI systems,(ii)privacy and surveillance,(iii)the impact of AI and automation on health care staffemployment and the nature of clinical work,(iv)the effects of AI on health inequalities,justice,and access to medical care,and(v)challenges related to regulation and governance.We end the essay with a call for papers and a set of questions that could be relevant for future studies.
