The...In order to achieve an access to strain sensor data with wireless transmission in bridge engineering structure testing, a wireless strain test system is presented based on the resistance strain sensor of networks. The wireless bridge strain test system composed of master station and substation adopts the wireless method to realize the high accuracy data acquisition between the master station and the substation under a reliable communication protocol. The system has been tested in contrast with the present strain apparatus. Results show that the wireless system is high-reliable, and has many characteristics such as high efficiency, good precision, high stability with low cost, and good flexibility, without using the present communication network.展开更多
Background and Aims:Lamivudine(3TC),telbivudine(LdT),entecavir(ETV),adefovir(ADF),and tenofovir(TFV)are drugs used to treat hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection,but specific mutations allow some viruses to become resistant...Background and Aims:Lamivudine(3TC),telbivudine(LdT),entecavir(ETV),adefovir(ADF),and tenofovir(TFV)are drugs used to treat hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection,but specific mutations allow some viruses to become resistant to antiviral drugs or to acquire immune escape capacities.These mutations have not been thoroughly investigated in Mexico.This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of HBV antiviral resistance and escape mutations.Methods:This cross-sectional study analyzed 158 samples.HBV DNA was extracted,amplified,and sequenced in serum samples using the spin column method,PCR assay,and Sanger’s sequencing,respectively.HBV genotypes were determined,and HBV mutations were tested using the Geno2pheno tool.Results:Overall,68.4%(108/158)of HBV patients were infected with genotype H,followed by G(11.4%,18/158),A2(10.8%,17/158),F1b(6.9.0%,11/158),D(1.9%,3/158),and E(0.6%,1/158),and 5.1%(8/158)had evidence of recombination.The prevalence of resistance mutations was 8.2%(13/158)and the most common combined mutation was rt180M+rt204V.Notably,we found the combinations rt180M+rt204V+rt173L(n=2)and rt180M+rt204V+rt202G(n=1)that confer multidrug resistance to 3TC,LdT,and ETV.Resistance mutations were found in genotypes A2(11.8%,2/17),and H(10.2%,11/108),and escape mutations were detected in HBV genotypes A2(11.8%,2/17),H(10.2%,11/108),F1b(9.1%,1/11)and G(5.6%,1/18).Conclusions:The highest prevalence of antiviral resistance mutations or escape mutations was detected in HBV genotypes A2 and H.The earliest cases of HBV multidrug resistance were detected in Mexico.展开更多

To measure rail stress, resistance strain gauges are preferred due to their good stability, sensitivity, and esist...The technology of continuously welded rails (CWRs) is important in modern railway track structures. To measure rail stress, resistance strain gauges are preferred due to their good stability, sensitivity, and esistance to external interference. Based on the bi-directional strain method, we present a new method for measuring longitudinal rail stress using resistance strain gauges and develop a monitoring device for rail stress to realize long-term and multi-point measurement. Also relevant experimental verification and analysis are conducted. Results indicate that under various constraints the rail stress–strain values can be calculated just with the measured total longitudinal strain and total vertical strain. Considering the measurement error caused by sectional feature of sensors, we put forward a correction equation applicable to different stress conditions. Although the temperature values of the four full-bridge stress gauges can offset each other, the measurement error caused by rail flexural strain can also be eliminated to a certain extent at the same time, the nonuniform distribution of rail cross section temperature and unbalanced flexural strain still affect the measurement error. The experimental results also show that the developed rail-stress-monitoring sensor is suitable for measuring rail stress with reliable working performance.展开更多

Therefore, a novel antibiotic susceptibility test is u...The dynamics of a bacterial population exposed to the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of an antibiotic is an important issue in pharmacological research. Therefore, a novel antibiotic susceptibility test is urgently needed that can both precisely determine the MIC and accurately select antibiotic-resistant strains from clinical bacterial populations. For this purpose, we developed a method based on Fick's laws of diffusion using agar plates containing a linear gradient of antibiotic. The gradient plate contained two layers. The bottom layer consisted of 15 mL agar containing the appropriate concentration of enrofloxacin and allowed to harden in the form of a wedge with the plate slanted such that the entire bottom was just covered. The upper layer consisted of 15 mL plain nutrient agar added with the plate held in the horizontal position. After allowing vertical diffusion of the drug from the bottom agar layer for 12 h, the enrofloxacin concentration was diluted in proportion to the ratio of the agar layer thicknesses. The uniform linear concentration gradient was verified by measuring the enrofloxacin concentration on the agar surface. When heavy bacterial suspensions were spread on the agar surface and incubated for more than 12 h, only resistant cells were able to form colonies beyond the boundary of confluent growth of susceptible cells. In this way, the true MIC of enrofloxacin was determined. The MICs obtained using this linear gradient plate were consistent with those obtained using conventional antibiotic susceptibility tests. Discrete colonies were then spread onto a gradient plate with higher antibiotic concentrations; the boundary line increased significantly, and gene mutations conferring resistance were identified. This new method enables the rapid identification of resistant strains in the bacterial population. Use of the linear gradient plate can easily identify the precise MIC and reveal the dynamic differentiation of bacteria near the MIC. This method allows the study of genetic and physiological characteristics of individual strains, and may be useful for early warning of antibiotic resistance that may occur after use of certain antirnicrobial agents, and guide clinical treatment.展开更多
Our study is to evaluate the potential bioactive compound of Nocardiopsis sp.GRG1(KT235640)and its antibacterial activity against multi drug resistant strains(MDRS)on urinary tract infections(UTIs).Two brown algae sam...Our study is to evaluate the potential bioactive compound of Nocardiopsis sp.GRG1(KT235640)and its antibacterial activity against multi drug resistant strains(MDRS)on urinary tract infections(UTIs).Two brown algae samples were collected and were subjected to isolation of endophytic actinomycetes.100 strains of actinomycetes were isolated from algal samples based on observation of morphology and physiological characters.40 strains were active in antagonistic activity against various clinical pathogens.Among the strains,10 showed better antimicrobial activity against MDRS on UTIs.The secondary metabolite of Nocardiopsis sp.GRG1(KT235640)has showed tremendous antibacterial activity against UTI pathogens compared to other strains.Influence of various growth parameters were used for synthesis of secondary metabolites,such as optimum pH 7,incubation time 5e7 days,temperature(30C),salinity(5%),fructose and mannitol as the suitable carbon and nitrogen sources.At 100 μg/ml concentration MIC of Nocardiopsis sp.GRG1(KT235640)showed highest percentage of inhibition against Proteus mirabilis(85%),and E.coli,Staphylococcus auerues,Psuedomonas aeroginasa,Enterobactor sp and Coagulinase negative staphylococci 78e85%respectively.展开更多
