Input theory as a theoretical foundation in language teaching plays an important role in SLA.Though a wealth of re⁃search has been done by linguists to demonstrate the importance of language input in SLA,little has been written about the type and amount of language input for successful SLA,especially its processing model while acquiring a second language.This paper first discusses the Krashen’s input hypothesis in language learning,and then an introduction to Chaudron’s processing model of in⁃put is made.In the final part,the author explains the acquisition process based on word acquisition and grammar acquisition and concludes that in the process of acquiring a second language,the language learners reconstruct a new cognitive model by taking in consistent comprehensible language input. 展开更多

The differences between children' s L1 acquisition and adults' L2 acquisition based on a qualitative analysis are discussed and compared.Through systematic review of the relevant literature in light of the theories of L1 and L2 acquisition between children and adults,and analysis of the factors both influencing children s L1 and adults L2 acquisition.The findings show that two different acquisitions are distinguished in such aspects as in acquisition age,device,mode,environment and motivation,which conclude that children's L1 acquisition is effortless while adults' L2 acquisition is painful. 展开更多

This study aims to examine the influence of personality on second language learning.The whole study was based on the researcher’s regular interviews with two ESL Chinese students and the observation of their performance during their first semester.Additional data was collected via a simplified Myers Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI)and interviews with their teachers and a native speaker of English.Overall English proficiency was assessed using two Institutional TOEFL tests and their current GPA during their ESL studies.A positive relationship was found between extraversion and spoken English while a slight but passive correlation emerged between extraversion and overall English achievement. 展开更多
