Technology Provides Better Document Search Results on Slovak Legislation Webpage as Result of a Simulation of Webpage Performance Parameters

This article acquaints the public with the insights gained from conducting document searches in the Slovak public administration information system,when supported by knowledge of its management.Additionally,it discusses the advantages of simulating performance parameters and comparing the obtained results with the real parameters of the eZbierka(eCollection)legislation webpage.This comparison was based upon simulated results,obtained through the Gatling simulation tool,versus those obtained from measuring the properties of the public administration legislation webpage.Both sets of data(simulated and real),were generated via the the document search technologies in place on the eZbierka legislation webpage.The webpage provides users with binding laws and bylaws available in an electronically signed PDF file format.It is free open source.In order to simulate the accessing of documents on the webpage,the Gatling simulation tool was used.This tool simulated the activity,performed in the background of the information system,as a user attempted to read the data via the steps mentioned in the scenario.The settings of the simulated environment corresponded as much as possible to the hardware parameters and network infrastructure properties used for the operation of the respective information system.Based on this data,through load changing,we determined the number of users,the response time to queries,and their number;these parameters define the throughput of the server of the legislation webpage.The required parameter determination and performance of search technology operations are confirmed by a suitable hardware design and the webpage property parameter settings.We used the data from the eZbierka legislation webpage from its operational period of January 2016 to January 2019 for comparison,and analysed the relevant data to determine the parameter values of the legislation webpage of the slov-lex information system.The basic elements of the design solution include the technology used,the technology for searching the legislative documents with support of a searching tool,and a graphic database interface.By comparing the results,their dependencies,and proportionality,it is possible to ascertain the proper determination and appropriate applied search technology for selection of documents.Further,the graphic interface of the real web database was confirmed. 展开更多

Annotation of miRNAs in the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)coronavirus is a new strain of coronavirus that had not been previously detected in humans.As its severe pathogenicity is concerned,it is important to study it thoroughly to aid in the discovery of a cure.In this study,the microRNAs(miRNAs)of COVID-19 were annotated to provide a powerful tool for the study of this novel coronavirus.We obtained 16 novel coronavirus genome sequences and the mature sequences of all viruses in the microRNA database(miRbase),and then used the miRNA matures sequences of the virus to perform the Basic Local Alignment Search Tool(BLAST)analysis in the coronavirus genome,extending the matched regions of approximately 20 bp to two segments by 200 bp.Six sequences were obtained after deleting redundant sequences.Then,the hairpin structures of the mature miRNAs were determined using RNAfold.The mature sequence on one hairpin arm was selected into a total of 4 sequences,and finally the relevant miRNA precursor prediction tools were used to verify whether the selected sequences are miRNA precursor sequences of the novel coronavirus.The miRNAs of the novel coronavirus were annotated by our newly developed method,which will lay the foundation for further study of this virus. 展开更多

In the present era of big data,web page searching and ranking in an efficient manner on the World Wide Web to satisfy the specific search needs of the modern user is undoubtedly a major challenge for search engines.Even though a large number of web search techniques have been developed,some problems still exist while searching with generic search engines as none of the search engines can index the entire web.The issue is not just the volume but also the relevance concerning the user’s requirements.Moreover,if the search query is partially incomplete or is ambiguous,then most of the modern search engines tend to return the result by interpreting all possible meanings of the query.Concerning search quality,more than half of the retrieved web pages have been reported to be irrelevant.Hence web search personalization is required to retrieve search results while incorporating the user’s interests.In the proposed research work we have highlighted the strengths and weakness of various studies as proposed in the literature for web search personalization by carrying out a detailed comparison among them.The in-depth comparative study with baselines leads to the recommendation of Intelligent Meta Search System(IMSS)and Advanced Cluster Vector Page Ranking(ACVPR)algorithm as one of the best approaches as proposed in the literature for web search personalization.Furthermore,the detailed discussion about the comparative analysis of all categories gives new opportunities to think in different research areas. 展开更多
