The commonly encountered concrete models such as Modified Kent-Park, Saatçioğlu-Razvi, and Mander are considered. Two moment-resisting frames designed according to thepre-modern code are taken into consideration to reflect the example of an RC moment-resisting frame in thecurrent building stock. The building is in an earthquake-prone zone located on Z3 Soil Type. The inelasticresponse of the building frame is modelled by considering the plastic hinges formed on each beam and columnelement for different concrete classes and stirrups spacings. The models are subjected to non-linear static analyses. The differences between confined concrete models are comparatively investigated at both reinforced concretemember and system levels. Based on the results of the comparative analysis, it is revealed that the column behaviouris mostly influenced by the choice of model, due to axial loads and confinement effects, while the beams areless affected, and also it is observed that the differences exhibited in the moment-curvature response of columncross-sections do not significantly affect the overall behaviour of the global system. This highlights the critical roleof model selection relative to the concrete strength and stirrup spacing of the member.展开更多

EIA follow-up has been receiving a lot of interest from scientists and practitioners, though it is recognized as one of the weakest points of EIA systems globally. Also, EIA follow-up is influenced by the context, mainly in terms of the types of projects or activities and their related impacts on the environment. Therefore, the present paper is focused on the investigation of the follow-up stage applied to the activity of seismic survey coupled with offshore oil & gas exploitation in Brazil. Research was based on a qualitative approach that included document analysis and semi-structured interviews with analysts involved in EIA processes, and sought to generate evidence of effectiveness of the EIA follow-up as conducted by the Federal Environment Agency (Ibama) in order to situate the practice of follow-up in the broader context of international best practice principles. Based on the findings, it was concluded that, due to the peculiarities of offshore seismic survey, it is necessary to promote adaptations in the procedures for monitoring impacts in order to ensure proper alignment with the principles and conceptual foundations that guide EIA practice. Specifically, the timing of the execution of the activity imposes challenges for its integration into the “conventional” cycle that has guided the monitoring of the impacts in the EIA of projects.展开更多

文摘With the rapid development of large megawatt wind turbines, the operation environment of wind turbine towers(WTTs)has become increasingly complex. In particular, seismic excitation can create a resonance response and cause excessive vibration of the WTT.To investigate the vibration attenuation performance of the WTT under seismic excitations,a novel passive vibration control device, called a prestressed tuned mass damper(PS-TMD),is presented in this study.First,a mathematical model is established based on structural dynamics under seismic excitation. Then, the mathematical analytical expression of the dynamic coefficient is deduced, and the parameter design method is obtained by system tuning optimization.Next, based on a theoretical analysis and parameter design, the numerical results showed that the PS-TMD was able to effectively mitigate the resonance under the harmonic basal acceleration. Finally, the time-history analysis method is used to verify the effectiveness of the traditional pendulum tuned mass damper(PTMD)and the novel PS-TMD device, and the results indicate that the vibration attenuation performance of the PS-TMD is better than the PTMD.In addition, the PS-TMD avoids the nonlinear effect due to the large oscillation angle, and has the potential to dissipate hysteretic energy under seismic excitation.

文摘Soil nonlinear behavior displays noticeable effects on the site seismic response. This study proposes a new functional expression of the skeleton curve to replace the hyperbolic skeleton curve.By integrating shear modulus and combining the dynamic skeleton curve and the damping degradation coefficient, the constitutive equation of the logarithmic dynamic skeleton can be obtained, which considers the damping effect in a soil dynamics problem.Based on the finite difference method and the multi-transmitting boundary condition,a 1D site seismic response analysis program called Soilresp1D has been developed herein and used to analyze the time-domain seismic response in three types of sites. At the same time, this study also provides numerical simulation results based on the hyperbolic constitutive model and the equivalent linear method. The results verify the rationality of the new soil dynamic constitutive model. It can analyze the mucky soil site nonlinear seismic response, reflecting the deformation characteristics and damping effect of the silty soil. The hysteresis loop area is more extensive, and the residual strain is evident.

文摘As an important part of nonstructural components, the seismic response of indoor water supply pipes deserves much attention. This paper presents shaking table test research on water supply pipes installed in a full-scale reinforced concrete(RC)frame structure.Different material pipes and different methods for penetrating the reinforced concrete floors are combined to evaluate the difference in seismic performance.Floor response spectra and pipe acceleration amplification factors based on test data are discussed and compared with code provisions.A seismic fragility study of displacement demand is conducted based on numerical simulation. The acceleration response and displacement response of different combinations are compared. The results show that the combination of different pipe materials and different passing-through methods can cause obvious differences in the seismic response of indoor riser pipes.

文摘Seismic isolation is an effective strategy to mitigate the risk of seismic damage in tunnels. However, the impact of surface-reflected seismic waves on the effectiveness of tunnel isolation layers remains under explored. In this study,we employ the wave function expansion method to provide analytical solutions for the dynamic responses of linings in an elastic half-space and an infinite elastic space.By comparing the results of the two models,we investigate the seismic isolation effect of tunnel isolation layers induced by reflected seismic waves. Our findings reveal significant differences in the dynamic responses of the lining in the elastic half-space and the infinitely elastic space.Specifically, the dynamic stress concentration factor(DSCF)of the lining in the elastic half-space exhibits periodic fluctuations, influenced by the incident wave frequency and tunnel depth, while the DSCF in the infinitely elastic space remain stable.Overall, the seismic isolation application of the tunnel isolation layer is found to be less affected by surface-reflected seismic waves. Our results provide valuable insights for the design and assessment of the seismic isolation effect of tunnel isolation layers.

文摘The near-seabed multichannel seismic exploration systems have yielded remarkable successes in marine geological disaster assessment, marine gas hydrate investigation, and deep-sea mineral exploration owing to their high vertical and horizontal resolution. However, the quality of deep-towed seismic imaging hinges on accurate source-receiver positioning information. In light of existing technical problems,we propose a novel array geometry inversion method tailored for high-resolution deep-towed multichannel seismic exploration systems. This method is independent of the attitude and depth sensors along a deep-towed seismic streamer, accounting for variations in seawater velocity and seabed slope angle. Our approach decomposes the towed line array into multiline segments and characterizes its geometric shape using the line segment distance and pitch angle.Introducing optimization parameters for seawater velocity and seabed slope angle,we establish an objective function based on the model, yielding results that align with objective reality.Employing the particle swarm optimization algorithm enables synchronous acquisition of optimized inversion results for array geometry and seawater velocity.Experimental validation using theoretical models and practical data verifies that our approach effectively enhances source and receiver positioning inversion accuracy. The algorithm exhibits robust stability and reliability, addressing uncertainties in seismic traveltime picking and complex seabed topography conditions.

文摘In mountainous areas, snow avalanches could be triggered by the shaking produced by earthquakes. The forces induced by the earthquake can cause an irregular increase of shear strength load down the slope, for the presence of complex surface and buried morphologies.Topographic irregularities generate maximum effects of waves amplification linked to wavelengths comparable to the horizontal dimension of the topographic feature. For this reason, the selected time-histories represent an appropriate input for the two-dimensional numerical response analyses when a dynamic phenomenon produce the resonant motion of a whole mountain. This represents an important earthquake-induced hazard in snow-covered mountain areas with high probability of seismic events. Some valleys are located in regions with scare ground motion data and investments on infrastructures are not always accompanied by adequate protection against earthquake-induced avalanches. The paper points out a simple deterministic approach for selecting a set of real accelerograms applied to a real case of Siella Mountain(Central Italy)where a large avalanche destroying a tourist facility of Rigopiano resort on 18 January 2017.The selected time histories were used as input for the two-dimensional numerical model of the subsoil to evaluate the topographic seismic amplification in ridge and compare it with the results of other authors. These methods suggest that morphology-related inertial effects should be considered as an overload action on snow layers when controlling multi-hazard studies and spatial planning.

文摘Extensive high-speed railway(HSR)network resembled the intricate vascular system of the human body, crisscrossing mainlands.Seismic events, known for their unpredictability, pose a significant threat to both trains and bridges, given the HSR’s extended operational duration. Therefore, ensuring the running safety of train-bridge coupled(TBC)system, primarily composed of simply supported beam bridges,is paramount.Traditional methods like the Monte Carlo method fall short in analyzing this intricate system efficiently.Instead, efficient algorithm like the new point estimate method combined with moment expansion approximation(NPEM-MEA)is applied to study random responses of numerical simulation TBC systems.Validation of the NPEM-MEA’s feasibility is conducted using the Monte Carlo method.Comparative analysis confirms the accuracy and efficiency of the method, with a recommended truncation order of four to six for the NPEM-MEA.Additionally,the influences of seismic magnitude and epicentral distance are discussed based on the random dynamic responses in the TBC system. This methodology not only facilitates seismic safety assessments for TBC systems but also contributes to standard-setting for these systems under earthquake conditions.

文摘Monitoring seismicity in real time provides significant benefits for timely earthquake warning and analyses. In this study,we propose an automatic workflow based on machine learning(ML)to monitor seismicity in the southern Sichuan Basin of China. This workflow includes coherent event detection, phase picking, and earthquake location using three-component data from a seismic network.By combining Phase Net,we develop an ML-based earthquake location model called Phase Loc,to conduct real-time monitoring of the local seismicity. The approach allows us to use synthetic samples covering the entire study area to train Phase Loc,addressing the problems of insufficient data samples, imbalanced data distribution, and unreliable labels when training with observed data.We apply the trained model to observed data recorded in the southern Sichuan Basin,China, between September 2018 and March 2019.The results show that the average differences in latitude, longitude, and depth are 5.7 km,6.1 km,and 2 km,respectively, compared to the reference catalog.Phase Loc combines all available phase information to make fast and reliable predictions, even if only a few phases are detected and picked. The proposed workflow may help real-time seismic monitoring in other regions as well.

文摘Earthquakes triggered by dynamic disturbances have been confirmed by numerous observations and experiments. In the past several decades, earthquake triggering has attracted increasing attention of scholars in relation to exploring the mechanism of earthquake triggering, earthquake prediction, and the desire to use the mechanism of earthquake triggering to reduce, prevent,or trigger earthquakes.Natural earthquakes and large‐scale explosions are the most common sources of dynamic disturbances that trigger earthquakes. In the past several decades, some models have been developed, including static, dynamic, quasi‐static, and other models. Some reviews have been published, but explosiontriggered seismicity was not included. In recent years, some new results on earthquake triggering have emerged. Therefore, this paper presents a new review to reflect the new results and include the content of explosion‐triggered earthquakes for the reference of scholars in this area.Instead of a complete review of the relevant literature, this paper primarily focuses on the main aspects of dynamic earthquake triggering on a tectonic scale and makes some suggestions on issues that need to be resolved in this area in the future.
文摘In this study, the influence of confined concrete models on the response of reinforced concrete structures is investigatedat member and global system levels. This highlights the critical roleof model selection relative to the concrete strength and stirrup spacing of the member.

文摘Follow-up of environmental impacts is an integral part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, closely related to the effectiveness of the instrument. Specifically, the timing of the execution of the activity imposes challenges for its integration into the “conventional” cycle that has guided the monitoring of the impacts in the EIA of projects.
