A deep insight into some special issues and considerations on use of the process to model aggregated VBR video traffic is made. Different methods to estimate stability parameter a and self-similar parameter H are compared. Processes to generate the linear fractional stable noise (LFSN) and the alpha stable random variables are provided. Model construction and the quantitative comparisons with fractional Brown motion (FBM) and real traffic are also examined. Open problems and future directions are also given with thoughtful discussions.展开更多

The cavity growth rate (CGR) or the moving rate of the gasification face is affected by controllable (operation pressure, gasification time, geometry of UCG panel) and uncontrollable (coal seam properties) factors. The CGR is usually predicted by mathematical models and laboratory experiments, which are time consuming, cumbersome and expensive. In this paper, a new simple model for CGR is developed using non-linear regression analysis, based on data from 1 l UCG field trials. The empirical model compares satisfactorily with Perkins model and can reliably predict CGR.展开更多

A discrete series predictor based on multi-outputs least square support vector regression (LSSVR) is applied to the compensation of on-board self-tuning model of aero-engine, and particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to the kernels selection of multi-outputs LSSVR. The method need not reconstruct the model of aero-engine because of the differences in the individuals of the same type engines and engine degradation after use. The concrete steps for the application of the method are given, and the simulation results show the effectiveness of the algorithm.展开更多

The 10°/10°, 20°/20° zigzag tests and the 35° turning circle manoeuvre are simulated. Part of the simulation data for the 20°/20° zigzag test are used to train the support vectors, and the trained support vector machine is used to predict the whole 20° / 20° zigzag test. Comparison between the simula- ted and predicted 20° / 20° zigzag test shows a good predictive ability of the three modelling methods. Then all mathematical models obtained by the modelling methods are used to predict the 10°/10° zigzag test and 35° turning circle manoeuvre, and the predicted results are compared with those of simulation tests to demonstrate the good generalization performance of the mathematical models. Finally, the modelling methods are analyzed and compared with each other in terms of the application conditions, the prediction accuracy and the computation speed. An appropriate modelling method can be chosen according to the intended use of the mathematical models and the available data for the system identification.展开更多

We recorded internode length, internode diameter, number of internodes per culm, total culm height, total culm green weight and total culm volume of all five culm age classes. Data were gathered on 165 culms, each culm age class containing 33 culms with 3 culms per girth class. Culm height ranged from 3.2 to 15.3 m with highest mean of 9.15 m (in threeyear old culms) and maximum culm height was recorded in four-year old culms. Highest mean and maximum internode length (27.45 and 54.2 cm, respectively), internode diameter (3.12 and 4.75 cm, respectively) and total culm green weight (5.42 and 12.87 kg/culm, respectively) were recorded in three-year old culms and lowest in current-year culms. Best fitted regression models for all parameters were developed. Significant linear relationships between culm green weight and culm solid volume were documented for all five culm age classes. Their corresponding best-fit regression models were also developed.展开更多
