Methods Five hundred and sixty pupils graded from 1 to 6 in an elementary school were investigated. According to the pupil rating scale revised screening for learning disabilities (PRS), combined Raven’s test (CRT) and achievement of main courses, 35 of 560 pupils were diagnosed as LD children. Thirty-five children were selected from the average children and 35 from advanced children in academic achievement equally matched in class, gender, and age with LD children as control groups. The three groups were tested by Piers-Harris children’s self-concept scale. Basic information of each subject was collected by self-made questionnaire. Results Compared with the average and advanced children, LD children got significantly lower scores in self-concept scale. Based on logistic regression analysis, 3 factors were identified, including family income per month, single child and delivery model. Conclusion The results suggest that self-consciousness of children with LD is lower than that of normal children.展开更多

Design and Setting: Longitudinal data were obtained from the Socio-economic Liewen zu Lëtzebuerg/European Union Survey on Income and Living Conditions, which has been conducted each year since 2003 in Luxembourg. Participants: Participants comprised 727 Luxembourg residents (58% men), aged between 21 and 55 years in 2003, who were employed between 2003 and 2012. Primary and Secondary Outcomes Measured: The variable of interest was self-reported health. We used transition indicators on work-related factors to consider changes that individuals may have experienced in their job over this period. Results: People who moved from a part-time to a full-time contract (odds ratio (OR): 5.52, confidence interval (CI): 1.55 - 19.73), and those who moved from the 3rd or 4th quartile of earnings to the 1st or 2nd quartile (OR: 2.48, CI: 1.02 - 6.05) between 2003 and 2012, had a higher risk of being in poor health in 2012. The risk of deterioration in self-reported health in 2012 among people who were healthy in 2003 was associated with the type of contract, economic activity, and occupation. Conclusion: Health inequalities occur among employed people in Luxembourg. Their importance varies according to work-related characteristics and economic activity. Our findings showed that declined health status was associated with contract type, profession, and economic activity. This suggests that measures should be taken to maintain good health for people working in these specific occupations or economic sectors (e.g. preventive action, reduction of risk exposure, change of occupation in the same company, and so on).展开更多

The crack expansion rate is estimated by taking advantage of the crack self-similarity. Therefore, the accuracy of the calculation is improved. The singular integrals on crack tip elements are also analyzed and are precisely evaluated in terms of a special integral analysis. Combination of these two techniques greatly increases the accuracy in estimating the stress distribution around the crack tip. A variety of two-dimensional cracks, such as subsurface cracks, edge cracks, and their interactions are calculated in terms of the self-similar expansion rate. Solutions are satisfied with errors less than 0.5% as compared with the analytical solutions. Based on the calculations of the crack interactions, a theory for crack interactions is proposed such that for a group of aligned cracks the summation of the square of SIFs at the right tips of cracks is always equal to that at the left tips of cracks. This theory was proved by the mehtod of Self-Similar Crack Expansion in this paper.展开更多

Methods A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in Beijing, China in 2016. Participants were users of a popular Chinese gay networking application and had an unknown or negative HIV status. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine factors associated with HIV self-testing based on adjusted odds ratio (AOR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results Among the 5,996 MSM included in the study, 2,383 (39.7%) reported to have used HIV self-testing kits. Willingness to use an HIV self-test kit in the future was expressed by 92% of the participants. High monthly income (AOR = 1.49; CI = 1.10-2.02; P = 0.010), large number of male sex partners (≥2: AOR = 1.24; CI = 2.09-1.43; P = 0.002), sexual activity with commercial male sex partners (〉 2: AOR = 1.94; CI = 1.34 -2.82; P = 0.001), long-term drug use (AOR = 1.42; CI = 1.23-1.62; P 〈 0.001), and long-term HIV voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) attendance (AOR = 3.62; CI = 3.11-4.22; P 〈 0.001) were all associated with increased odds of HIV self-testing uptake. Conclusion The nearly 40% rate of HIV self-testing uptake among MSM in our sample was high. In addition, an over 90% willingness to use kits in the future was encouraging. HIV self-testing could be an important solution to help China achieve the global target of having 90% of all people living with HIV diagnosed by 2020.展开更多

However, the direct impact of oxygen tension on hMSC differentiation in three-dimensional cultures is still unknown. This research was de- signed to observe the direct impact of oxygen tension on the ability of hMSCs to "self assemble" into tissue-engineered cartilage constructs, hMSCs were cultured in chondrogenic medium (CM) containing 100 ng/mL growth differentiation factor 5 (GDF-5) at 5% (hypoxia) and 21% (normoxia) 02 levels in monolayer cultures for 3 weeks. After differentiation, the cells were digested and employed in a self- assembly process to produce tissue-engineered constructs under hypoxic and normoxic conditions in vi- tro. The aggrecan and type ]I collagen expression, and type X collagen in the self-assembled con- structs were assessed by using immunofluorescent and immunochemical staining respectively. The methods of dimethylmethylene blue (DMMB), hydroxyproline and PicoGreen were used to measure the total collagen content, glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content and the number of viable cells in each con- struct, respectively. The expression of type II collagen and aggrecan under hypoxic conditions was in- creased significantly as compared with that under normoxic conditions. In contrast, type X collagen expression was down-regulated in the hypoxic group. Moreover, the constructs in hypoxic group showed more significantly increased total collagen and GAG than in normoxic group, which were more close to those of the natural cartilage. These findings demonstrated that hypoxia enhanced chondro- genesis of in vitro, scaffold-free, tissue-engineered constructs generated using hMSCs induced by GDF-5. In hypoxic environments, the self-assembled constructs have a Thistological appearance and biochemical parameters similar to those of the natural cartilage.展开更多

KLD-12 was synthesized by solid-state method. After TGF-β3 plasmid was loaded into KLD-12 self-assembling peptide nanofiber scaffold, DNA release ability was investigated. PSCs and hTGF-β3 gene were loaded into KLD-12 3-D scaffold, and MTT assay was performed to investigate the cell proliferation, and ELASA assay was used to investigate the expression of TGF-β3. Specific cartilage matrix was examined by quantitative real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry and Alcian Blue staining. Compared with control group, DNA synthesis level of PSCs reached the peak within 3 days when PSCs were cultured in self-assembling peptide nanofiber scaffold loading TGF-β3 plasmid, and maintained this high level within 2 weeks. MTT results showed that the proliferation ability of experimental group was statistically higher than that in control group (P〈0.05). Quantitative real-time PCR suggested that the percentage of TGF-β3 positive PSCs in experimental group was higher than that in control group (P〈0.01). ELISA assay showed that the TGF-β3 protein level increased in supernatant of experimental group's PSCs, reached the peak after 72 h and then declined a little to the plateau phase. Compared with the control group, the specific gene of chondrocyte typical extracellular matrix significantly up-regulated (P〈0.01). The results showed that PSCs differentiated into chondrocytes in self-assembling peptide nanofiber scaffold loading TGF-β3 plasmid, which provided a fresh approach to cartilage tissue engineering.展开更多

A cross-sectional study was conducted in graduate students of a Public University in the city of Rio Branco in the Western Brazilian Amazon. The overall prevalence of unsatisfactory self-rated health was 23.0%. After adjusting for gender and age, the factors associated with unsatisfactory self-rated health were as follows: sedentarism during leisure time (prevalence ratio (PR): 2.26;95% CI: 1.56 - 3.29), consuming meals only in restaurants (PR: 1.48;95% CI: 1.14 - 1.94), insomnia (PR: 1.86;95% CI: 1.50 - 2.30), headaches (PR: 2.17;95% CI: 1.52 - 3.09), and back pain (PR: 2.03;95% CI: 1.58 - 2.60). Thus, a high prevalence of unsatisfactory self-rated health was identified in this group of university students. The findings suggest immediate implementation of programs to promote healthy behaviors and to prevent headaches, back pain and insomnia.展开更多

文摘Objectives: We measured health inequalities among employed Luxembourg residents over time and the socio-economic and work-related determinants. 文摘Krashen's affective filter theory drew researchers' attention to the fresh field of internal factors of learners. But researchers seem to pay too much attention to the other factors while tending to neglect a factor that we cannot afford to play down in language learning research-self-confidence.This paper is designed to discuss the close relationship between self-confidence and some of the other important affective factors, and furthermore raise appropriate concern over self-confidence.

文摘Objective To examine HIV self-testing uptake and its determinates among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Beijing, China. HIV self-testing could be an important solution to help China achieve the global target of having 90% of all people living with HIV diagnosed by 2020.

文摘It is widely known that hypoxia can promote chondrogenesis of human bone marrow de- rived mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) in monolayer cultures. In hypoxic environments, the self-assembled constructs have a Thistological appearance and biochemical parameters similar to those of the natural cartilage.

文摘The effect of culture in KLD-12 self-assembling peptide nanofiber scaffold containing TGF-β3 gene on differentiation of precartilaginous stem cells (PSCs) into chondrocytes was studied. The results showed that PSCs differentiated into chondrocytes in self-assembling peptide nanofiber scaffold loading TGF-β3 plasmid, which provided a fresh approach to cartilage tissue engineering.
文摘The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and associated factors of unsatisfactory self-rated health in university students. The findings suggest immediate implementation of programs to promote healthy behaviors and to prevent headaches, back pain and insomnia.
