Genotyping of the ApoC-Ⅲ3238C】G was performed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism combined with gel electrophoresis, and then confirmed by direct sequencing.Interactions of the ApoC-Ⅲ3238C】G genotype and alcohol consumption was assessed by using a cross-product term between genotypes and the afore-mentioned factor. Results Serum total cholesterol(TC), TG,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),ApoA-I and ApoB levels were higher in drinkers than in nondrinkers (P【0.05-0.001).There was no significant difference in the genotypic and allelic frequencies between the two groups. Serum TG levels in nondrinkers were higher in CG genotype than in CC genotype(P【0,01).Serum TC,TG,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and ApoB levels in drinkers were higher in GG genotype than in CC or CG genotype(P【0.01 for all).Serum HDL-C levels in drinkers were higher in CG genotype than in CC genotype(P【0.01).Serum TC, TG,HDL-C and ApoA-I levels in CC genotype,TC,HDL-C, ApoA-I levels and the ratio of ApoA-I to ApoB in CG genotype, and TC,TG,LDL-C,ApoA-I and ApoB levels in GG genotype were higher in drinkers than in nondrinkers(P【0.05-0.01).But the ratio of ApoA-I to ApoB in GG genotype was lower in drinkers than in nondrinkers(P【0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the levels of TC,TG and ApoB were correlated with genotype in non drinkers(P【0.05 for all). The levels of TC,LDL-C and ApoB were associated with genotype in drinkers(P【0.01 for all). Serum lipid parameters were also correlated with age, sex, alcohol consumption, cigarette smoking, blood pressure, body weight, and body mass index in both groups. Conclusions This study suggests that the ApoC-Ⅲ3238CG heterozygotes benefited more from alcohol consumption than CC and GG homozygotes in increasing serum levels of HDL-C,ApoA-I, and the ratio of ApoA-I to ApoB,and lowering serum levels of TC and TG.展开更多

There is no specific biomarker for the diagnosis of NAFLD. Trigly-ceride and glucose index (TyG) may predict the subsequent occurrence of NAFLD in later life. This cross sectional study was aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of triglyceride and glucose index (TyG) as a possible biomarker of NAFLD. The study was conducted at the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh from March 2019 to February 2020. A total of 124 subjects were taken as study population following selection criteria. Among them 62 were diagnosed patients of NAFLD and 62 were healthy subjects as control group. Fasting plasma glucose was measured by glucose oxidase method and serum triglyceride was measured by enzymatic-colorimetric method, while TyG index was calculated accordingly. The mean age was 39.5 ± 11.27 years in NAFLD patients and 37.10 ± 12.28 years in control subjects with male female ratio 1:1.7 and 1:1.8 respectively. Major portion of NAFLD patients (62.9%) were overweight (BMI ≥ 25). The mean fasting plasma glucose level was 5.73 ± 1.47 mmol/L in NAFLD patients and 5.27 ± 0.69 mmol/L in control group (p < 0.027). The mean serum triglyceride level was 237.19 ± 96.47 mg/dl in NAFLD patients and 117.32 ± 53.07 mg/dl in control group (p < 0.001). The triglyceride and glucose index (TyG) was 9.36 ± 0.47 in NAFLD group and 8.53 ± 0.42 in control group. TyG index was significantly higher in NAFLD patients in comparison to control group (p < 0.001). In ROC analysis, cut off value of TyG index was 8.85 with sensitivity 93.5% and specificity 79%. As a fast and effective method, TyG index can be used as a diagnostic tool to predict NAFLD.展开更多
Initial prodiabetic risk profiles were invented here with three female study groups consisting of primarily healthy women (A1: 1990-1999, n = 160;A2: 2009, n = 88;A: n = 248, 36 ± 14 years;B: 2014: n = 65, aged 3...Initial prodiabetic risk profiles were invented here with three female study groups consisting of primarily healthy women (A1: 1990-1999, n = 160;A2: 2009, n = 88;A: n = 248, 36 ± 14 years;B: 2014: n = 65, aged 37± 11 years). Significantly higher blood pressure was found comparing intolerance versus tolerance to glucose (p p p = 0.02), of fasting blood glucose (p = 0.07) and of urine pathology (p = 0.07). High LDL-C of women who reported smoking at baseline was correlated with diastolic hypertension whereby alcohol problems overlapped (p = 0.036, A). Unhealthy combinations were found consisting of LDL-related intolerance to glucose, LDL-related smoking, of alcohol-related hypertriglyceridemia or of combined drinking and smoking testing urine pathology over the course of time. Obese women were at direct risk for hypertension in the presence of high LDL-C and submaximal ratio of serum albumin to triglycerides (Alb/Trig). Obese women reacted highly sensitive to critical alcohol consumption showing then macroalbuminuria. Current participants who disowned daily alcohol consumption showed healthy morning urines and normal fasting blood glucose. Mild decrease of HDL-C was observed during heavy smoking of relatively young women who had normal biomarkers. Women with intolerance to glucose were at direct risk for hypertension whereby high LDL-C and/or smoking triggered prodiabetic risk profiles. Obese women had elevated LDL-C during hypertension and reacted highly sensitive to alcohol-related proteinuria and/or hematuria.展开更多

Methods: Thirty-two cases of simple obesity patients were enrolled into this study. Acupoints of the Stomach Meridian and Spleen Meridian as Zhongwan (中脘 CV 12), Liangmen (梁门 ST 21), Tianshu (天枢 ST 25), Guayuan (关元 CV 4), etc. were punctured, once daily in the first 5 days, and once every other day afterwards, with 10 sessions being a therapeutic course. Before treatment and after 3 courses of treatment, the body weight, waistline, weight index, seam cholesterol (CH), triglyceride and aggregation index of red blood cell (RBC) were detected. Results: After acupuncture treatment, all the indexes of body weight, waistline, weight index, serum CH, triglyceride and aggregation index of RBC decreased significantly in comparison with those of pre-treatment(P< 0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture can apparently improve cellular hemorheology, reduce body weight, serum cholesterol and TG levels in simple obesity patients.展开更多
