Therefore, different relationships between oligopoly companies will lead to different responses in their decisions on R&D investment. A correlation deduced from different responses of oligopoly companies in R&D investment with the complete information tactic game theory is presented, and the R&D investment of oilfield service companies was analyzed with this correlation. The correlations of Schlumberger's R&D investment, Halliburton's R&D investment and Baker Hughes' R&D investment were established and analyzed. Meanwhile, two regression models were presented. One was composed of Schlumberger's R&D investment in the previous year and Halliburton's R&D investment. The other was composed of Schlumberger's R&D investment and Baker Hughes' R&D investment in the same year. The accuracy of these two models was proved to be good.展开更多

It is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. Taking ABC Software Company as an example, the performances before and after the introduction of CMMI in the firm were compared. The results indicated that after two years of application, the productivity increased 92%, and the ability of detecting errors improved 26.45% ; while the rate of faults and the cost of software development dropped 12.45% and 77.55%, respectively. To conclude, small project-based firms benefit a lot if they take CMMI into their process of innovation management, particularly for those R&D firms, since the implementation of CMMI leads them to a promising future with higher efficiency and better effects.展开更多

The selection of the project delivery method (PDM) is extremely important in the effective execution of the project, and plays a critical role in establishing communication and coordination between the key entities: owner, architect, and contractor. The goal of this paper is to hopefully serve as a starting point for further discussion to improve on the AEC industry’s current integration of sustainability principles in PDMs. The first step consists of an assessment of current project delivery systems from a sustainable design perspective. This is followed by a determination of the current limitations, and examination of the various disrup-tions in the industry. Various literature sources are analyzed to form a framework to discuss improvements and optimization strategies beyond the current system. Thereafter, proposed solutions are introduced at both stakeholders, as well as PDM scales. In this paper, the focus for the conducted analysis and proposed method-ologies is predicated on new construction projects instead of retrofits due to the resources available. However, the principles can similarly be applied to retro-fit scenarios as well, depending on the specific requirements of the individual project at play.展开更多

Considering the uncertain variables in day-ahead(DA) market trading, an ESCO can hardly determine their accurate probability distribution functions. Traditional interval optimization methods are used to process these uncertain variables without specific probability distribution functions. However, the lower and upper bounds of the intervals may change due to extreme weather conditions and other emergent events. Hence, a dual interval optimization based trading strategy(DIOTS) for ESCO in a DA market with bilateral contracts(BCs) is proposed. First, we transfer the dual interval optimization model into a simple model consisting of several interval optimization models. Then, a pessimistic preference ordering method is applied to solve the derived model. Case studies illustrating an actual test system corroborate the validity and the robustness of the proposed model, and also reveal that ECSO is critical in improving power system flexibility and facilitating the ability of absorbing renewable resources.展开更多
