Compiling a combined sample of FSRQs and GeV NLSls, it is found that both FSRQs and GeV NLSls in different stages and in different sources follow the same δ-Lc correlation well. This indicates that the variations of observed luminosities may be essentially due to the Doppler boosting effect. The universal δ-Lo relation between FSRQs and GeV NLS 1 s in different stages may be further evidence that the particle acceleration and radiation mechanisms for the two kinds of sources are similar. In addition, by replacing Lc with the observed luminosity in the Fermi/LAT band (LLAT), this correlation holds and it may serve as an empirical indicator of δ. We estimate the δ values with LLAT for 484 FSRQs in the Fermi/LAT Catalog and they range from 3 to 41, with a median of 16, which are statistically consistent with the values derived by other methods.展开更多

A. = 02h 21m 19.84s, Dec = 00°56' 28.4', J2000; z = 0.399785 ± 0.000558) is analyzed by multi-component profile modelling. The small flux ratio of [OⅢ]NC/Hβ (=0.78) and FWHM(HβBC) = 1778.1 ±85.9 km s-1 led us to identify SDSS J022119.84 + 005628.4 as a Narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy with RFe= 1.4-1.0+1.0 and intermediate radio loudness, logR = 1.93. The continuum low jump at the Balmer limit might be contributed by a starburst component, which suggests that the object is a relatively young AGN with star-formation activity in its inner region. This provides a useful observational test of the AGN evolution. The low flux ratio of the narrow components, [OⅢ]/Hβ = 1.62, and the prominent [OⅡ]γ3727 emission, [OⅡ]/[OⅢ] = 2.24, suggests that there should be a group of AGNs different from Seyfert 2s when their broad line regions are obscured by the torus on the line of sight. A possible orientation effect is suggested to interpret the observed Seyfert 1.5s-like spectrum of the object. The spectrum features prominent broad blue wings of both [OⅢ]γγ4959 and 5007. After excluding other possible contributions, we conclude that the broad components are emitted by [O Ⅲ] itself. The material emitting the broad [O III] line is probably situated in a transient line region (with a low electron density, ne < 107cm-3) between the broad line region (BLR) and the narrow line region (NLR). The object can be classified as a 'blue outlier' defined by Zamanov et al., according to its velocity shift vr([OⅢ]) = -293.6 ± 18.0 km s-1, relative to the systematic velocity.展开更多

The virial supermassive black hole mass (MBH) is calculated from the broad Hβline, and the host stellar velocity dispersion (σ*) is traced by the core [O Ⅲ] gaseous velocity dispersion. The radio luminosity and radio loudness are derived from the FIRST catalog. Our results are as follows: (1) For radio-quiet quasars, we confirm that there is no obvious deviation from the MBH-σ* relation defined for inactive galaxies when the uncertainties in ~IBH and the luminosity bias are concerned. (2) We find that the radio-loud quasars deviate more from the MBH-σ* relation than do the radio-quiet quasars. This deviation is only partly due to a possible cosmological evolution of the MBH-σ* relation and the luminosity bias. (3) The radio luminosity is proportional to MBH1.28+0.23-0.16(LBol/LEdd) ^1.29+0.31-0.24 for radio-quiet quasars and to -MBH3.10+0.60-0.70(LBol/LEdd)^4.18+1.40-1.10 - for radio-loud quasars. The weaker dependence of the radio luminosity on the mass and the Eddington ratio for radio-loud quasars shows that other physical effects would account for their radio luminosities, such as the spin of the black hole.展开更多

We report the detection of warm absorbers with high energy resolution in the Seyfert 2 galaxy IRAS 18325-5926 for the first time with Chandra HETGS spectra. An intrinsic absorbing line system with an outflow velocity - 400 km s^-1 was found, which is contributed by two warm absorbers with FWHM of 570 km s^-1 and 1360 km s^-1, respectively. The two absorbers were adjacent, and moving transversely across our line of sight. We constrained the distance between the center and the absorbers to be a small value, suggesting that the absorbers may originate from the highly ionized accretion disk wind ejected five years ago. The perspective of this type 2 Seyfert provides the best situation in which to investigate the vertical part of the funnel-like outflows. Another weak absorbing line system with zero redshift was also detected, which could be due to Galactic absorption with very high temperature or an intrinsic outflow with a very high velocity - 6000 km s^-1.展开更多

However, emission lines are rarely detected between these two regions. We present a detailed analysis of quasar SDSS J232444.80-094600.3 (SDSS J2324-0946), which is remarkable for its strong intermediate-width emission lines (IELs) with FWHM ≈ 1800 km s^-1. The IEL component is present in different emission lines, including the permitted lines Lyαλ1216, CⅣ λ1549, semiforbidden line C Ⅲ] λ1909, and forbidden lines [OⅢ] ss4959, 5007. With the aid of photo-ionization models, we found that the IELs are produced by gas with a hydrogen density of nH - 10^6.2 -- 10^6.3 cm^-3, a distance from the central ionizing source of R - 35 - 50 pc, a covering factor of - 6%, and a dust-to-gas ratio of ≤ 4% that of the SMC. We suggest that the strong IELs of this quasar are produced by nearly dust-free and intermediate-density gas located at the skin of the dusty torus. Such strong IELs, which serve as a useful diagnostic, can provide an avenue to study the properties of gas between the BELR and the NELR.展开更多

From the indicators of star-formation activity, f60/f100 and LFIR/LB, we find some evidence that the Sy2s without HBLR show higher star-formation activities than those with HBLR, in agreement with previous prediction. Also, we confirm that the HBLR Sy2s tend to have a larger luminosity ratio of the core to the host galaxy, suggesting that the HBLR Sy2s display more powerful AGN activity. However, the level of obscuration found in previous papers is nearly indistinguishable between the two types of Sy2s. The results support the statement that the non-HBLR Sy2s, with a weaker core component and a stronger star-formation activity component, are intrinsically different from the HBLR Sy2s, which are Sy1 systems with a hidden powerful AGN core and a low star-formation activity. The indications are that the non-HBLR Sy2s might be at an earlier evolutionary phase than the HBLR Sy2s.展开更多

We found that six of the NLSls show a positive HR1-CTs correlation, and seven of the BLSls, a negative correlation. The other two NLSls and seven BLSls do not show any clear HR1-CTs correlation. Thus, the spectral behavior is statistically different for the NLSls and BLSls. The different behaviors can possibly be interpreted in terms of a stable 'soft excess' that is strong in NLSls and weak in BLSls, plus a power law component, common to both, which softens with increasing flux.展开更多

By comparing our new spectra taken in 2021 with the ones taken by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey in 2004, BOSS in 2013 and Ma NGA in 2016, we reveal type transitions of Seyfert(Sy) 1.9 → Sy1.8 → Sy1.9. In the transitions, the classical broad Hα emission fades away after 2013 and disappears in our 2021 spectrum, although the absence of broad Hβ can be traced back to at least 2016. A follow-up observation in X-rays by the Swift/XRT reveals that(1) the X-ray emission level gradually decreased since 2005;and(2)the X-ray spectrum is soft in the optical "turn-off" state and hard in the "turn-on" state. We argue that the disappearance of the classical broad Hα emission can be likely explained by the disk-wind broad-line-region model, in which the CL phenomenon is sensitive to luminosity in individual AGNs.展开更多

Our main results are as follows. For the lower state γ-ray data, there is no correlation between the γ-ray and radio flux density; For the high state γ-ray data, there are good correlations for the whole 119 blazars and 97 FSRQs, and a weak correlation for the 22 BL Lac objects; For the average γ-ray data, there are good correlations. According to our analysis, we propose that the γ-rays are associated with the radio emission from the jet, and that the γ-ray emission is likely from the SSC process in this case.展开更多

Applying the same criteria established in an earlier work, we find that, similar to IR QSOs at low redshift, the far-infrared emission of these (sub)mm-loud QSOs mainly originates from dust heated by starbursts. By combining low-z IR QSOs and high-z (sub)mm-loud QSOs, we find a trend that the star formation rate (M*) increases with the accretion rate (Mace). We compare the values of M*/Macc for submm emitting galaxies (SMGs), far-infrared ultraluminous/hypeduminous QSOs and typical QSOs, and construct a likely evolution scenario for these objects. The (sub)mm-loud QSO transition phase has both high Macc and M* and hence is important for establishing the correlation between the masses of black holes and spheroids.展开更多

An analysis of the 0.5 - 10 keV spectra shows that four Seyfert 2 galaxies with polarized broad lines (PBLs) are absorbed by NH 〈 1024 cm^-2, while two of three Seyfert 2 galaxies without PBLs show evidence of Compton-thick obscuration, supporting the conclusion that Seyfert 2 galaxies without PBLs are more obscured than those with PBLs, Adding the measured obscuration indicators (NH, T ratio, and Fe Kα line EW) of six luminous AGNs to our previous sample improves the significance level of the difference in absorption from 92.3% to 96.3% for NH, 99.1% to 99.4% for T ratio, and 95.3% to 97.4% for Fe Kα line EW. The present results support and enhance the suggestions that the absence of PBLs in Seyfert 2 galaxies can be explained by larger viewing angles of the line of sight to the putative dusty toms, which leads to the obscuration of the broad-line scattering screen, as expected in the unification model.展开更多

Its optical spectrum can be well decomposed into three components: a power law component from the relativistic jet, a stellar component from the host galaxy, and a component from a typical NLS1 nucleus. The emission line properties of 0846+51W1, FWHM (Hβ) (?) 1710 km s-1 and [OⅢ]λ5007/Hβ(?)0.32 from its SDSS spectrum observed when it was in the faint state, fulfil the conventional definition of NLS1. Strong Fell emission is detected in the SDSS spectrum, which is also typical of NLS1s. We tried to estimate its central black hole mass using various techniques and found that 0846+51W1 is very likely emitting at a few ×10% of the Eddington luminosity. We speculate that Seyfert-like nuclei, including NLS1s, might be concealed in a significant fraction of BL Lacs but have remained largely unobserved because, often, their optical-UV continuum is overwhelmed by the synchrotron emission.展开更多

Another weak absorbing line system with zero redshift was also detected, which could be due to Galactic absorption with very high temperature or an intrinsic outflow with a very high velocity - 6000 km s^-1.

文摘Emission lines from the broad emission line region (BELR) and the narrow emission line region (NELR) of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) have been extensively studied. Such strong IELs, which serve as a useful diagnostic, can provide an avenue to study the properties of gas between the BELR and the NELR.

文摘We study the relation between the infrared colors, [OIII] emission lines, gaseous absorbing column density (NH),and the detectability of the polarized (hidden) broad-line region (HBLR) in a large sample of 75 Seyfert 2 galaxies (Sy2s). The indications are that the non-HBLR Sy2s might be at an earlier evolutionary phase than the HBLR Sy2s.
文摘We examined the correlation between the ROSAT Hardness Ratio 1 and Count Rates eight Narrow-line Seyfert 1 Galaxies (NLSls) and 14 Broad-line Seyfertl Galaxies (BLSls). The different behaviors can possibly be interpreted in terms of a stable 'soft excess' that is strong in NLSls and weak in BLSls, plus a power law component, common to both, which softens with increasing flux.
文摘We report the discovery of five Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLSls) identified from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey bright sources. One of them has a quasar-like luminosity and two, including the quasar-like one, have close companions and/or show interacting features. We calculate the central black hole masses and Eddington ratios for the five NLSls. In combination with the objects of Kaspi et al., we find that NLSls have smaller central black hole masses and higher accretion rate than normal Seyfert 1s.

文摘We use the recently discovered simple photometric parameter Central Intensity Ratio(CIR)determined for a sample of 57 nearby(z<0.02)Seyfert galaxies to explore the central features of galaxies and their possible connection with galaxy evolution. The sample of galaxies shows strong anti-correlation between CIR and mass of their central supermassive black holes(SMBHs).The SMBH masses of ellipticals are systematically higher for a given CIR value than those for lenticulars and spirals in the sample. However, the correlation between CIR and central velocity dispersion is weak.CIR appears less influenced by the excess flux produced by the central engine in these galaxies, when compared to spectroscopic parameters like velocity dispersion and OⅣflux, and proves to be a fast and reliable tool for estimating central SMBH mass.

文摘Long-term spectroscopic monitoring campaigns on active galactic nuclei(AGNs)provide a wealth of information about its interior structure and kinematics. However,a number of the observations suffer from the contamination of second-order spectra(SOS)which will introduce some undesirable uncertainties at the red side of the spectra. In this paper,we test the effect of SOS and propose a method to correct it in the time domain spectroscopic data using the simultaneously observed comparison stars.Based on the reverberation mapping(RM)data of NGC 5548 in2019,one of the most intensively monitored AGNs by the Lijiang 2.4 m telescope,we find that the scientific object, comparison star, and spectrophotometric standard star can jointly introduce up to~30%SOS for Grism 14.This irregular but smooth SOS significantly affects the flux density and profile of the emission line, while having little effect on the light curve. After applying our method to each spectrum,we find that the SOS can be corrected effectively. The deviation between corrected and intrinsic spectra is~2%,and the impact of SOS on time lag is very minor. This method makes it possible to obtain the HαRM measurements from archival data provided that the spectral shape of the AGN under investigation does not have a large change.

文摘Here we report an identification of B3 0749+460 A as a new double-peaked local "changing-look" active galactic nucleus(CL-AGN) in terms of our multi-epoch spectroscopic analysis. We argue that the disappearance of the classical broad Hα emission can be likely explained by the disk-wind broad-line-region model, in which the CL phenomenon is sensitive to luminosity in individual AGNs.

文摘We collect 119 γ-ray-loud blazars (97 flat spectrum radio quasars (FSRQs) and 22 BL Lacertae objects (BL Lacs)), and investigate possible correlations between their γ-ray emission (maximum, minimum and average values) at 1 GeV and the radio emission at 8.4 GHz. According to our analysis, we propose that the γ-rays are associated with the radio emission from the jet, and that the γ-ray emission is likely from the SSC process in this case.

文摘We study the growth of black holes and stellar population in spheroids at high redshift using several (sub)mm-loud QSO samples. The (sub)mm-loud QSO transition phase has both high Macc and M* and hence is important for establishing the correlation between the masses of black holes and spheroids.

文摘New XMM-Newton data of seven Seyfert 2 galaxies with optical spectropolarimetric observations are presented. The present results support and enhance the suggestions that the absence of PBLs in Seyfert 2 galaxies can be explained by larger viewing angles of the line of sight to the putative dusty toms, which leads to the obscuration of the broad-line scattering screen, as expected in the unification model.
文摘We found a NLS1 nucleus in the extensively studied eruptive BL Lac object, 0846+51W1, out of a large sample of NLS1s compiled from the spectroscopic dataset of SDSS DR1. We speculate that Seyfert-like nuclei, including NLS1s, might be concealed in a significant fraction of BL Lacs but have remained largely unobserved because, often, their optical-UV continuum is overwhelmed by the synchrotron emission.
