Based on the bifurcation and the idea that the solitary waves and shock waves of partial differential equations correspond respectively to the homoclinic and heteroclinic trajectories of nonlinear ordinary differential equations satisfied by the travelling waves, different conditions for the existence of solitary waves of a perturbed sine-Gordon equation are obtained. All of the corresponding approximate solitary wave solutions are given by integrating the derived approximate equations directly. 展开更多

In this paper, we use a univariate multiquadric quasi-interpolation scheme to solve the one-dimensional nonlinear sine-Gordon equation that is related to many physical phenomena. We obtain a numerical scheme by using the derivative of the quasi-interpolation to approximate the spatial derivative and a difference scheme to approximate the temporal derivative. The advantage of the obtained scheme is that the algorithm is very simple so that it is very easy to implement. The results of numerical experiments are presented and compared with analytical solutions to confirm the good accuracy of the presented scheme. 展开更多

Fast High Order Algorithm for Three-Dimensional Helmholtz Equation Involving Impedance Boundary Condition with Large Wave Numbers

Acoustic fields with impedance boundary conditions have high engineering applications, such as noise control and evaluation of sound insulation materials, and can be approximated by three-dimensional Helmholtz boundary value problems. Finite difference method is widely applied to solving these problems due to its ease of use. However, when the wave number is large, the pollution effects are still a major difficulty in obtaining accurate numerical solutions. We develop a fast algorithm for solving three-dimensional Helmholtz boundary problems with large wave numbers. The boundary of computational domain is discrete based on high-order compact difference scheme. Using the properties of the tensor product and the discrete Fourier sine transform method, the original problem is solved by splitting it into independent small tridiagonal subsystems. Numerical examples with impedance boundary conditions are used to verify the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed algorithm. Results demonstrate that the algorithm has a fourth- order convergence in  and -norms, and costs less CPU calculation time and random access memory. 展开更多

We analyse the use of the Sine Transform precondilioners for the solution of linear systems arising from the discretization of p.d.e. via the preconditioned conjugate gradient method. For the second-order partial differential equations with Dirichlel boundary conditions, we prove that the condition number of the preconditioned system is O(1) while the condition number of the original system is O(m 2) Here m is the number of interior gridpoints in each direction. This paper uses the Ansatz method to solve for exact topological soliton solutions to sine-Gordon type equations. Single, double, and triple sine-Gordon and sine-cosine-Gordon equations are investigated along with dispersive and highly dispersive variations. After these solutions are found, strong perturbations are added to each equation and the new solutions are found. In solving both the perturbed and unperturbed sine-Gordon type equations, constraints are imposed on the parameters. The novel contributions of the authors are the soliton solutions to the strongly perturbed sine-Gordon equation and its variations. These results are important to the study of Josephson junctions, crystal dislocations, ultra-short optical pulses, relativistic field theory, and elementary particles. 展开更多

To show the accuracy and the efficiency of the method, several benchmark problems are implemented and the comparisons are given with other methods existing in the recent literature.
