The results show that due to excessive application of chemical fertilizer in soil on the south bank of Hongze Lake, soil p H reduced by about 2 on average, while TN content and available phosphorus content in soil increased by more than one time and 2-5 times respectively. Soil acidification caused by agricultural production was very serious. In addition, low soil p H resulted in serious loss of soil cation, so that soil CEC in2013 accounted for less than 50% of that in 1982 and affected mineral nutrient metabolism of crops. Therefore, application of calcium, potassium and trace-element fertilizer should be paid more attention to during agricultural production in future.展开更多

Activities of β-gulcosidase in the plow layers were in the range of 52.68- 137.02μg PNP g^-1 soil h^-1 with a mean of 89.22μg PNP g^-1 soil h^-1. However, most plow layers ranged from 70 to 110 μg PNP g^-1 soil h^-1. The profile distribution of β-gulcosidase activity in the 12 soil profiles decreased rapidly with soil depth, with activity at the 60 cm depth only about 10% of that in the surface layers (0-15 cm or 0-20 cm). In these soil profiles, β-gulcosidase activity was significantly positively correlated with soll organic carbon and arylsulphatase activity. Meanwhile, a significantly negative correlation was shown between β-gulcosidase activity and soil pH.展开更多

Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China, has been encountering dramatic changes in hydrological conditions in last decade, which greatly influenced the wetland vegetations. To explore the relationships between hydrology and vegetation distri- bution, water-table depth, soil moisture, species composition, diversity and biomass were measured at a seasonally flooded wetland section at Wucheng National Nature Reserve. Three plant communities, Artemisia capillaris, Phragmites australis and Carex cineras- cens communities, were examined which are zonally distributed from upland to lakeshore with decreasing elevation. Canonical corre- spondence analysis (CCA), spearmen correlation and logistic regression were adopted to analyze the relationships between vegetation characteristics and hydrological variables of water-table depth and soil moisture. Results show that significant hydrological gradient exist along the wetland transect. Water-table demonstrates a seasonal variation and is consistently deepest in A. capillaris community (ranging from q).5 m above ground to +10.3 m below ground), intermediate in P. australis community (-2.6 m to +7.8 m) and shallow- est in C. cinerascens community (-4.5 m to +6.1 m). Soil moisture is lowest and most variable in A. capillaris community, highest and least variable in P. australis community, and intermediate and moderate variable in C. cinerascens community. The CCA ordination indicated that variables of water-table depth and soil moisture are strongly related to community distribution, which explained 81.7% of the vegetation variations. Species diversity indices are significantly positively correlated with soil moisture and negatively correlated with moisture variability, while above- and belowground biomass are positively correlated with moisture. Above- and belowground biomass present Gaussian models along the gradient of average water-table depth in growing season, while species diversity indices show bimodal patterns. The optimal average water-table depths for above- and belowground biomass are 0.8 m and 0.5 m, respectively, and are 2.2 m and 2.4 m for species richness and Shannon-Wiener indices, respectively. Outcomes of this work improved the under- standings of the relationship between hydrology and vegetation.展开更多

The ̄7Be inventory (189-544 Bq m ̄(-2) changes with both locations and seasons. Although the ̄7Be flux to the earth's surface increases with amount of precipitation, its maximum inventory in the soil profiles decreases to 30%-40% after the rainy period. Calculated by the diffusion equation, the erosion and accumulation rates of soil particles are agreeable with the observation in situ., which shows that the rates in fall are 1.5 times those in spring. The eroded soil particles almost all have been removed on the tablelands rather than transported into the drainage system. This indicstes that the soil erosion process in the karst region is only partial transportation within a short distance.展开更多

Grasshoppers were confined mainly to the areas with light chestnut soil or chestnut soil, and very few were found in areas with subalpine meadow soil. Grasshoppers were almost absent from other types of soil, such as aeolian soil. In addition, analysis of 14 soil samples collected in the study area revealed that a soil moisture content between 18 and 32 g kg-1 coincided spatially with a higher density of grasshoppers, with the grasshopper density averaging 15 head m-2. In areas with a soil moisture content above 42 g kg-1 or below 10 g kg-1, grasshopper density dropped to less than 5 head m-2. These indicated that for the study area, soils with very high or very low moisture contents were not conducive to the survival of grasshoppers.展开更多

Experiment on long-term collecting samples was conducted to study changes of soil organic matter, total N, available N, available P and available K in Dongting town, Wuxi city during the last 20 years. The paper analyses the co-relationship of the fluctuation of soil nutrient and state policy, cultivating practice, agricultural input, and per hectare agricultural net income. The results showed that at first the content of soil organic matter increased, then decreased, and increased again. The content of total N and available N steadily increased. The content of available K and available P steadily decreased. The authors found that the influence of state policy and cultivating practice on soil nutrient quality index (SNQI) is obvious, agricultural input and SNQI are positively correlated, and per hectare agricultural net income and SNQI are negatively correlated.展开更多

The risk areas where non-point source pollution may occur were compartmentalized and assessed, and the total soil erosion and the runoffs of N and P with rainfall in this valley were worked out by experiment and GIS mapping. The study indicated that the main type of soil erosion was moderate (erosion modulus is 1000-2500t/(km(2).a)) at present, and the intense erosion areas are located in dry land with variable slope east of the lake and the middle-south parts of steep slope mountainous region (erosion modulus is more than 5000t/(km(2).a)). Though the area is small, it should be paid attention to. The trend of non-point source pollution (NSP) of nitrogen and phosphorus loss was corresponded with the soil erosion. Spatial distribution and the reasons of the distribution difference have been presented and it was emphasized that the human activities among the influence factors was the most important. It surely offers a scientific basis to control and prevent non-point source pollution in the watershed.展开更多

The soil respiration variation in the two different vegetation types and its correlation with environmental factors were analyzed. The results showed that in the growing season, the diurnal variation curves of soil respiration rate in the two different vegetation types showed a single peak variation, but there was certain difference in the appearance time of the peak. The peak of the crop appeared around11: 00 am,while the peak of soil respiration in the poplar appeared around 13: 00. The soil respiration rate of the poplar was also significantly higher than that of the crop, and the average difference of soil respiration rate between the two was 3. 09 and 3. 55 μmol/( m^2·s) in April and August, respectively. Temperature and soil moisture were the main factors affecting soil respiration of the poplar plantation and crop community. Temperature had a greater effect on the soil respiration of the crop community, and soil humidity had a greater impact on soil respiration in the poplar plantation, showing a correlation coefficient reaching 0. 952.展开更多

In this paper, the risk of soil erosion and its ecological risks in the West Lake Scenic Spots (WLSS) area were quantitatively evaluated by integrating the revised universal soil loss equation (RUSLE) with a digital elevation model (DEM) and geographical information system (GIS) software. The standard RUSLE factors were modified to account for local climatic and topographic characteristics reflected in the DEM maps, and for the soil types and vegetation cover types. An interface was created between the Areinfo software and RUSLE so that the level of soil erosion and its ecological risk in the WLSS area could be mapped immediately once the model factors were defined for the area. The results from an analysis using the Areinfo-RUSLE interface showed that the risk value in 93 % of the expanding western part of the WLSS area was moderate or more severe and the soil erosion risk in this area was thus large compared with that in the rest of the area. This paper mainly aimed to increase the awareness of the soil erosion risk in urbanizing areas and suggest that the local governments should consider the probable ecological risk resulting from soil erosion when enlarging and developing tourism areas.展开更多

On the base of geobotanic profiling combined with soil one, the structure and dynamics of phytocenoses forming under the conditions of mutual development of light-coniferous taiga forest and of extra zonal steppes. Edaphic conditions and placement of phytocenoses are main trigger factors determining the ways of plant cover development in this part of Lake Baikal basin. We discuss the characteristics properties inherent in the linkage of the dynamics and spatial variability of the vegetation with the change of climate in the Baikal region. The regional conditions of the physiogeographic environment had given rise to structurally highly contrasting plant communities in this region. The increase in yearly mean summertime amounts of rainfall, combined with the rise of yearly mean winter temperatures over the last years were conducive to changes in the spatial structure of vegetation. The boundary between the types of vegetation undergoes smoothing. The upper boundary of forest is altered because of changes of the environment that are responsible for the zonality and properties of vertical zonality of the vegetation on the mountains surrounding Lake Baikal. Changes in the vegetation serve as indicators of climate change as well as providing diagnostic tools for the genesis of the Baikal region’s natural environment.展开更多

The optimal average water-table depths for above- and belowground biomass are 0.8 m and 0.5 m, respectively, and are 2.2 m and 2.4 m for species richness and Shannon-Wiener indices, respectively. Outcomes of this work improved the under- standings of the relationship between hydrology and vegetation.

文摘e penetrative depth in undisturbed surface soil is within 4 mm.7 ̄Be activity shows exponential decrease with soil depth, which is expressed as a diffusion process.7 ̄Be penetrative depth in undisturbed surface soil is apparently deeper in the fall (0.22-0.37 g cm ̄(-2) than in the spring (0.11-0.28 g cm ̄(-2) at the same site; Whereas, ̄7Be apparent activity at the top of surface soil is higher in the spring (0.3-2.2 Bq g ̄(-1_) than in the fall (0.2-0.5 Bq g ̄(-1) at the same site. This indicstes that the soil erosion process in the karst region is only partial transportation within a short distance.

文摘The instability of saline soil foundation affects the safety of artificial construction, and may cause ground collapse, building destruction and road damage. It is fundamental to reduce the potential engineering geological disasters by exploring the dynamic evolution of saline soil. Most of the previous researches of saline soil were conducted by simulated experiments and traditional geodetic surveying methods.Restricted to the limited sampling points, the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of saline soil were difficult to find out in a large scale. This paper exploited SBAS-InSAR method to extract the deformation of the Qarhan Salt Lake(in Qinghai,China)section along Qinghai-Tibet railway, based on 119 image data acquired by Sentinel-1A from 2015 to 2020.The results showed that the deformation trends varied frequently in this saline mud flat.Between the adjacent areas with different deformation trends along Qinghai-Tibet railway, discontinuities caused by uplift and subsidence were very obvious.Besides, among the areas with brine exploitation or artificial construction, the maximum subsidence rate reached50 mm/yr,and the maximum cumulative subsidence exceeded 320 mm in the latest 5 years. In the saline mud flat closed to the rivers and lakes, the deformation trend was continuous uplift.Nevertheless, there were obvious seasonal deformation characteristics in those areas far away from the water body.Further analysis found out a sharply subsidence caused by the salt collapsibility appeared in rainy seasons. While an uplift trend induced by the salt swelling or frost heave was remarkable in dry seasons.Subsequently, the relationships were analyzed between the time series deformation and external environmental fac-tors.Furthermore,the deformation mechanism of saline soilin the Qarhan Salt Lake region was inter-preted then.In general, this study provides complete spatiotemporal evolution information of saline soil, and demonstrates the deformation characteristics of saline soil in the Qarhan Salt Lake region suc-cessfully.Related results would contribute to the safety monitoring for large-scale infrastructure con-struction in the saline soil areas.

文摘The relationship between rangeland grasshopper density and soil type as well as topsoil moisture content was analyzed with in situ soil data collected in the Qinghai Lake region of China. These indicated that for the study area, soils with very high or very low moisture contents were not conducive to the survival of grasshoppers.

文摘The objectives of this study is to understand the changing law of soil nutrient quality in Taihu Lake basin, Yangtze Delta in last 20 years, and reveal the relationship between soil nutrient changes and human driving forces in regional level over long period of time. The authors found that the influence of state policy and cultivating practice on soil nutrient quality index (SNQI) is obvious, agricultural input and SNQI are positively correlated, and per hectare agricultural net income and SNQI are negatively correlated.
文摘Data collection, factor composition, nappe analysis and integrative simulation of natural geographical factors in Erlong Lake watershed have been carried out based on GIS. It surely offers a scientific basis to control and prevent non-point source pollution in the watershed.

文摘In order to ascertain the soil carbon flux characteristics of poplar plantations and crop communities in the Dongting Lake area during the growing season and their correlation with hydrothermal conditions, soil respiration rate was monitored at fixed sites and time points with an LI-8100 A automated soil flux system.Meanwhile, the surface temperature and soil temperature and humidity were measured. Temperature had a greater effect on the soil respiration of the crop community, and soil humidity had a greater impact on soil respiration in the poplar plantation, showing a correlation coefficient reaching 0. 952.

文摘Soil salinization has adverse effects on the soil physical-chemical characteristics. However, little is known about the changes in soil salt ion concentrations and other soil physical-chemical characteristics within the Qarhan Salt Lake and at different soil depths in the surrounding areas. Here,we selected five sampling sites(S1,S2,S3,S4,and S5)alongside the Qarhan Salt Lake and in the Xidatan segment of the Kunlun Mountains to investigate the relationship among soil salt ion concentrations, soil physical-chemical characteristics, and environmental variables in April 2019.The results indicated that most sites had strongly saline and very strongly saline conditions. The main salt ions present in the soil were Na^(+),K^(+),and Cl^(-).Soil nutrients and soil microbial biomass(SMB)were significantly affected by the salinity(P<0.05).Moreover,soil salt ions(Na^(+),K^(+),Ca2+,Mg^(2+),Cl^(-),CO_(3)^(2-),SO_(4)^(2-),and HCO_(3)^(-))were positively correlated with electrical conductivity(EC)and soil water content(SWC),but negatively related to altitude and soil depth.Unlike soil salt ions, soil nutrients and SMB were positively correlated with altitude, but negatively related to EC and SWC.Moreover, soil nutrients and SMB were negatively correlated with soil salt ions.In conclusion, soil nutrients and SMB were mainly influenced by salinity, and were related to altitude, soil depth, and SWC in the areas from the Qarhan Salt Lake to the Xidatan segment. These results imply that the soil quality(mainly evaluated by soil physical-chemical characteristics)is mainly influenced by soil salt ions in the areas surrounding the Qarhan Salt Lake. Our results provide an accurate prediction of how the soil salt ions, soil nutrients, and SMB respond to the changes along a salt gradient. The underlying mechanisms controlling the soil salt ion distribution, soil nutrients, and SMB in an extremely arid desert climate playa should be studied in greater detail in the future.
文摘The concentration of total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP) and organic material (OM) at sixty grid division in Lake Chaohu basin around the lake was studied, in order to investigate their spatial distribution characteristics. The results showed that the average concentrations of TN, TP and OM were 1027 mg/kg, 483 mg/kg, 1.95%, and their concentrations ranged from 253 mg/kg to 2273 mg/kg, 223 mg/kg to 1173 mg/kg and 0.291% to 5.48%, respectively. The high concentration areas were located at the basins of Tuogao river and Zhao river while the low concentration areas were located at basins of Pai river, Nanfei river and Dianpu river. The concentrations of TN and OM were higher in East part than in West part. The spatial distribution of TN, TP and OM concentrations of the surface soil showed inconsistent with those of the water quality of the inflow rivers and the lake and the TN and TP of lake sediment studied.

文摘In China, many scenic and tourism areas are suffering from the urbanization that results from physical development of tourism projects, leading to the removal of the vegetative cover, the creation of areas impermeable to water, in-stream modifications, and other problems. This paper mainly aimed to increase the awareness of the soil erosion risk in urbanizing areas and suggest that the local governments should consider the probable ecological risk resulting from soil erosion when enlarging and developing tourism areas.

文摘There is a lack of research on soil microplastics in arid oases considering the rapid economic development of northwestern China. Here,we studied the occurrence and sources of microplastics in soil,as well as the relationships between microplastics and adsorbed heavy metals in the Ebinur Lake Basin,a typical arid oasis in China. Results showed that(1)the average microplastic content in all soil samples was 36.15(±3.27)mg/kg.The contents of microplastics at different sampling sites ranged from 3.89(±1.64)to 89.25(±2.98)mg/kg.Overall,the proportions of various microplastic shapes decreased in the following order:film(54.25%)>fiber(18.56%)>particle(15.07%)>fragment(8.66%)>foam(3.46%);(2)among all microplastic particles, white particles accounted for the largest proportion(52.93%),followed by green(24.15%),black(12.17%),transparent(7.16%),and yellow particles(3.59%).The proportions of microplastic particle size ranges across all soil samples decreased in the following order:1000-2000μm(40.88%)>500-1000μm(26.75%)>2000-5000μm(12.30%)>100-500μm(12.92%)>0-100μm(7.15%).FTIR(Fourier transform infrared)analyses showed that polyethylene terephthalate(PET),polypropylene(PP),polycarbonate(PC),polyethylene(PE),and polystyrene(PS)occurred in the studied soil;(3)random forest predictions showed that industrial and agricultural production activities and the discharge of domestic plastic waste were related to soil microplastic pollution,in which agricultural plastic film was the most important factor in soil pollution in the study area;and(4)seven heavy metals extracted from microplastics in the soil samples showed significant positive correlations with soil pH,EC,total salt,N,P,and K contents(P<0.01),indicating that these soil factors could significantly affect the contents of heavy metals carried by soil microplastics. This research demonstrated that the contents of soil microplastics are lower than other areas of the world, and they mainly come from industrial and agricultural activities of the Ebinur Lake Basin.
文摘Abstract: The present study is an attempt to apply the concept of plant and pollen indicators to habitat conditions in different soil strata at archaeological site (Lake Qarun). It revealed a great palaeoenvironmental information's about habitat changing of Lake Qarun from a humid and wet conditions during the Hellenic Period to reed swampy early Roman, to Nile Flooding middle Roman, to mesophytic habitats Late Roman, also changing to halophytic and salt marshes with presence of Chenopodiaceae at recent time. Using indicator plants and their remains i.e. pollen grains and spores, palynological studies of different soil strata revealed that, presence of 13 pollen and spore types e.g. Lycopodium, Typhaceae type, Juncaceae, Poaceae, Cyperaceae, Caryophyllaceae, Chenopodiaceae, Nymphaeaceae, Fabaceae, Asteraceae, Tamaricaceae, Onagraceae and Lamiaceae. The data obtained were valuable in reconstruct past vegetation and habitats conditions of Lake Qarun during Helleno Roman period.
文摘For the first time in P. R. China, six locations were investigated regarding the impact of poloychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in contaminated sediments and soils in the Ya-Er Lake area . Total concentrations of PCDDs from 70 to 1.6 ×105 ng/kg dw ,median 7.9×104 ng/kg dw and of PCDFs from 1.8 to 1.8 ×104ng/kg dw ,median 9.2 ×103 ng/kg dw were measured . The internaional toxic equivalents (I-TEQ) varied from 0.14 to 8.1×10 2 ng/kg dw,median 4.1×102 ng/kg dw The PCDDs pattern showed that the concentration of OCDD was significantly higher than that of the low chlorinated congeners . The results indicated that parts of Ya-Er Lake are heavily pollutad by there chiorinated compounds. Comparison of our results with the pattern of sediments showed significant differences . The asults are of special importance bocause the pollution that affected Ya-Er Lake may spread to agricultural land and the Changjiang River.
文摘The results of studies of the peculiarities of formation of phytocenoses in environments contact sites of the western and eastern coasts of the Lake Baikal has been showed in this paper. Changes in the vegetation serve as indicators of climate change as well as providing diagnostic tools for the genesis of the Baikal region’s natural environment.
