The parameters are closely related to the generation, emission, operation environment, and role of the electron beam and the corresponding medium. In this study, a field calculation method is proposed, and the electric field intensity distribution on the electron beam’s cross-section is analyzed. The characteristics of beam diffusion caused by the space charge effect are investigated in simulation, and the obtained data are compared with the experiment. The simulation demonstrated that the cross-sectional electric field distribution is primarily affected by the electron beam current, current density distribution, and electron beam propagation speed.展开更多

It is found that in helical two-stream electron beams the growth rate of the two-stream instability increases with the beam entrance angle. An SCW with the broad frequency spectrum, in which higher harmonics have higher amplitudes, forms when the frequency of the first SCW harmonic is much less than the critical frequency of the two-stream instability. For helical electron beams the spectrum expands with the increase of the beam entrance angle. Moreover, we obtain that utilizing helical electron beams in multiharmonic two-stream superheterodyne free-electron lasers leads to the improvement of their amplification characteristics, the frequency spectrum broadening in multiharmonic signal generation mode, and the reduction of the overall system dimensions.展开更多

It is shown that the SCW with a wide frequency spectrum is formed when the frequency of the first SCW harmonic is much lower than the critical frequency of the two-stream instability.Such SCW has part of the spectrum in which higher harmonics have higher amplitudes. We analyze the dynamics of the plural harmonic interactions of the growing SCW and define the saturation harmonic levels. We find the mechanisms of forming the multiharmonic SCW for the waves with frequencies lower than the critical frequency and for the waves with frequencies that exceed the critical frequency.展开更多

In order to study the effect of space charge on discharge propagation path, a new experimental system, including mainly DC high voltage generator, impulse voltage generator as well as rod-plane electrode, has been established. The space charge was generated around the rod by means of pre-applying DC high voltage, and the air gap dis- charge experiments were conducted with and without pre-applying DC high voltage, respectively. Meanwhile, high speed cameras worked simultaneously from the front and lateral side to record the discharge propagation path so as to obtain the curvature. After statistical analysis, it is shown that the curvature increases in the middle and lower portions of the propagation path when the effect of space charge is taken into account.展开更多

Oil-paper insulation plays a significant role as the main insulation material of many key power equipments. The space charge behaviors of oil-paper insulation not only affect the dielectric strength, but also relate to the stability and security of power transmission facilities. Until now, the research on the space charge behaviors of oil-paper insulation remains on the stage of objective description and phenomenon explanation, thus it is very urgent to make some feature extractions on the test results in order to further investigate the DC space charge behaviors of oil-paper insulation. In this paper, based on the large numbers of test data in the first stage, data mining and feature extractions were performed on the DC space charge behavior of oil-paper insulation. The variation laws of some key characteristic parameters obtained in different experiment conditions such as the total charge injection amount, apparent charge mobility, and trap energy distribution were analyzed. In addition, the distribution of trapping level inside oil-paper was calculated by using the PEA test results based on the mechanism of the isothermal decay current, which realized the approximate calculation of trap depth by charge decay characteristics. What’s more, the exponential injection and decay equations of DC space charge changing with time were acquired for the first time, and the physical meanings of related parameters were defined. This has laid a foundation for the prediction and simulation of space charge in the oil-paper insulation.展开更多

However, the consequent solid-solid interfacial problems have become a typical bottleneck to the performance. It has been considered that the space charge layer(SCL) formed at the interface to balance the sharp electrochemical inherent difference of properties is one of the most important factors that affect the ion transportation along and across the interface. Its existence may hinder ion transportation and increase the interfacial impedance but may also help to provide a new percolation path for lithium ion and so to enhance the ion migration. However the mechanism of SPL formation and its regulation on ion transport is not very clear, so it has raised a lot of attention and interest from LIB researchers. The purpose of this article is to try to gain some knowledge of SCL and, at the same time to browse through the related research in recent years. Hopefully, it may help those interested in solid electrolyte development for all-solidstate lithium-ion batteries(ASSB) in the future.展开更多

Experimental results show that the relationship between the space charge and the current density is consistent with the voltage-current characteristics, and can reflect the nonlinear characteristics of ZnO varistor. The space charge increases linearly with the increase of the electric field strength and the current density in the small current region, this reflects the decrease of the surface states of the grain boundary and changes of the Schottky barrier. There exists a transition region between the small current and middle current regions, where the current is composed of the current by the emission of thermally activated electrons and the tunneling current. In the middle current region, the space charge will decrease as the current increases, and will disappear with the depletion layer decreasing to zero.展开更多

For better understanding, t...The betatron matching of a rotationally asymmetric beam in space charge dominated low-energy beam transports (LEBTs) where solenoids are used for the transverse matching has been studied. For better understanding, the coupling elements of a beam matrix are interpreted in special forms that are products of a term defined by the Larmor rotation angle and another by the difference between the beam matrix elements in the two transverse planes. The coupling form originally derived from the rotationally symmetric field in solenoids still holds when taking into account the rotationally asymmetric space charge forces that are due to the unequal emittance in the two transverse planes. It is shown in this paper that when an LEBT mainly comprising solenoids transports a beam having unequal emittance in the two transverse planes and the linear space charge force is taken into account, the initial Twiss parameters can be modified to obtain the minimum and equal emittance at the LEBT exit. The TRACE3D calculations also prove the principle. However, when quadrupoles that are also rotationally asymmetric are involved in between solenoids, the coupling between the two transverse planes becomes more complicated and the emittance increase is usually unavoidable. A matching example using the CSNS (China Spallation Neutron Source) LEBT conditions is also presented.展开更多

文摘The development of lithium-ion solid electrolyte provides new ideas for solving the safety problems of secondary lithium-ion batteries(LIB) and, at the same time, the improvement of energy density. Hopefully, it may help those interested in solid electrolyte development for all-solidstate lithium-ion batteries(ASSB) in the future.

文摘In order to reveal the conduction mechanism of ZnO varistor, the pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) measurement is employed to investigate the space charge distribution characteristics of ZnO varistors under different current densities in this paper. In the middle current region, the space charge will decrease as the current increases, and will disappear with the depletion layer decreasing to zero.

文摘High-voltage direct current(HVDC)power cables have been paid more attention due to the big issue concerning the main insulation materials. The residues in the industrial production process will cause space charge generation and accumulation in the materials, which has become one bottleneck to limit the development of power cables up to higher voltage levels. In this paper, the LDPE matrix was modified by three types of ethylene-butyl acrylate(EBA)copolymers(1.0 wt%)with different polarities(BA content)via melt blending to optimize the space charge behavior of the LDPE insulation. The micromorphology and structure of the blends are examined by polarized light microscope and differential scanning calorimetry. The space charge distribution is tested by the pulsed electro-acoustic method. The trap level is studied by the thermally stimulated current. The results show that EBA introduces more deep traps and decreases the shallow traps. The medium-polar EBA(16%BA content)can effectively suppress charge accumula-tion,and have the same suppressed effect on XLPE/EBA blends. This study will provide important insights into the design and development of advanced HVDC power cable applications.

文摘The betatron matching of a rotationally asymmetric beam in space charge dominated low-energy beam transports (LEBTs) where solenoids are used for the transverse matching has been studied. A matching example using the CSNS (China Spallation Neutron Source) LEBT conditions is also presented.
文摘In this paper we treat first some nonlinear beam dynamics problems in storage rings, such as beam dynamic apertures due to magnetic multipoles, wiggles, beam-beam effects, nonlinear space charge effect, and then nonlinear electron cloud effect combined with beam-beam and space charge effects, analytically. This analytical treatment is applied to BEPC II. The corresponding analytical expressions developed in this paper are useful both in understanding the physics behind these problems and also in making practical quick hand estimations.
