Bi-directional static loading test adopting load cells is widely used around the world at present, with increase in diameter and length of deep foundations. In this paper, a new simple conversion method to predict the equivalent pile head load-settlement curve considering elastic shortening of deep foundation was put forward according to the load transfer mechanism. The proposed conversion method was applied to root caisson foundation in a bridge and to large diameter pipe piles in a sea wind power plant. Some new load cells, test procedure, and construction technology were adopted based on the applications to different deep foundations, which could enlarge the application scopes of bi-directional loading test. A new type of bi-directional loading test for pipe pile was conducted, in which the load cell was installed and loaded after the pipe pile with special connector has been set up. Unlike the conventional bi-directional loading test, the load cell can be reused and shows an evident economic benefit. 展开更多

Transverse load-deflection curves were obtained t... The effects of microstructure on quasi-static transverse loading behavior of 3D circular braided composite tubes were studied. Transverse loading tests were conducted. Transverse load-deflection curves were obtained to analyze the effects of braiding parameters including the braiding angle, the wall thickness, and the diameter on the transverse loading of 3D circular braided composite tubes. Breaking loads, moduli and strengths had also been used to describe the transverse loading behaviors. The failure morphologies were shown to reveal damage mechanisms. From the results, the increase in braiding angle, wall thickness and diameter increases the ability of anti-deformation and breaking load of braided tubes. The breaking load of specimen with a braiding angle of 45° is about 1.68 times that of specimen with a braiding angle of 15°. The breaking load of specimen with 4 layers of yarns is about 2.15 times that of specimen with 2 layers of yarns. The breaking load of the tube with a diameter of 25.5 mm is about 2.39 times that of the tube with a diameter of 20.5 mm. 展开更多

Bridge deformation monitoring usually adopts contact sensors,and the implementation process is often limited by the environment and observation conditions,resulting in unsatisfactory monitoring accuracy and effect.Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar(GBSAR)combined with corner reflectors was used to perform static load-loaded deformation destruction experiments on solid model bridges in a non-contact manner.The semi parametric spline filtering and its optimization method were used to obtain the monitoring results of the GBSAR radar’s line of sight deformation,and the relative position of the corner reflector and the millimeter level deformation signals under different loading conditions were successfully extracted.The deformation transformation model from the radar line of sight direction to the vertical vibration direction was deduced.The transformation results of deformation monitoring and the measurement data such as the dial indicator were compared and analyzed.The occurrence and development process of bridge deformation and failure were successfully monitored,and the deformation characteristics of the bridge from continuous loading to eccentric loading until bridge failure were obtained.The experimental results show that GBSAR combined with corner reflector can be used for deformation feature acquisition,damage identification and health monitoring of bridges and other structures,and can provide a useful reference for design,construction and safety evaluation. 展开更多

In this paper,the construction process of a cable-stayed bridge with corrugated steel webs was monitored.Moreover,the end performance of the bridge was verified by load test.Owing to the consideration of the bridge structure safety,it is necessary to monitor the main girder deflection,stress,construction error and safety state during construction.Furthermore,to verify whether the bridge can meet the design requirements,the static and dynamic load tests are carried out after the completion of the bridge.The results of construction monitoring show that the stress state of the structure during construction is basically consistent with the theoretical calculation and design requirements,and both meet the design and specification requirements.The final measured stress state of the structure is within the allowable range of the cable-stayed bridge,and the stress state of the structure is normal and meets the specification requirements.The results of load tests show that the measured deflection values of the mid-span section of the main girder are less than the theoretical calculation values.The maximum deflection of the girder is−20.90 mm,which is less than−22.00 mm of the theoretical value,indicating that the girder has sufficient structural stiffness.The maximum impact coefficient under dynamic load test is 1.08,which is greater than 1.05 of theoretical value,indicating that the impact effect of heavy-duty truck on this type of bridge is larger.This study can provide important reference value for construction and maintenance of similar corrugated steel web cable-stayed bridges. 展开更多

In order to verify the influence of different block proportions S/B on the effect of SBS modified asphalt,the dynamic mechanical performance test and static loading test were performed on the samples composed of different kinds of SBS with base asphalt. It is found that different S/B values fix on different modified effects and different viscoelastic mechanical behaviors,due to biphasic separate fabric of polybutadiene and polystyrene in SBS. In low-speed running pavement,the modified asphalt with lower S/B value shows better pavement performance,while in high-speed running pavement,the modified asphalt with higher S/B value shows better pavement performance. As far as SBS modified asphalt itself is concerned,mixing proportion impacts on resisting displacement and block proportion S/B ratio impacts on strain recovery capacity. In the case that the conditions are the same,SBS modified asphalt with different S/B values can be used for different travelling speed pavement construction demands to get an intelligent use. 展开更多

In this paper,we present an application of distributed fiber optic sensor(DFOS)technology to measure the strain of a continuous flight auger(CFA)test pile with a central reinforcement bar bundle,during a static load test carried out in London.Being distributed in nature,DFOS gives much more information about the pile performance as compared to traditional point sensors,such as identifying cross-sectional irregularities or other anomalies.The strain profiles recorded along the depth of the piles from the DFOS were used to calculate pile deformation(contraction),shaft friction,and tip resistance under various loads.Based on this pile load test,a finite element(FE)analysis was performed using a one-dimensional nonlinear load-transfer model.Calibrated by the shaft friction and tip resistance derived from the monitored data,the FE model was able to simulate the pile and soil performance during the load testing with good accuracy.The effect of the reinforcement cage and central reinforcement bar bundle were investigated,and it was found that the addition of a reinforcement cage would reduce the pile settlement by up to 20%. 展开更多

In order to meet the objective requirements of the safety and comfort of the modern lightweight timber floors,and strengthen the research on the coupling performance of the lightweight timber floors vibration characteristics and the building comfort,this article discusses the floor of a two-story prefabricated lightweight timber building demonstration house.In this paper,the floor structure of a two-story light-weight wooden house has been carried out on structural calculation modal and experimental modal,static uniform load and concentrated load deflection value testing.The evaluation of the deflection value of the floor structure,the mode shape,the coupling of the fundamental frequency mode parameters,and the vibration comfort were also studied.The results show that the fundamental frequency simulation value,one-way modal test value and two-way modal test value of the floor structure all meet the requirements of BS-6472(BS6472-1:2008).That is,the floor structure is not lower than 8 Hz design requirements,and meets the frequency of BS-6472(BS6472-1:2008).The weighted root mean square acceleration is lower than the requirement of 0.45 m/s^(2);the first three natural frequencies of the floor structure calculated by the finite element simulation are 16.413,31.847 and 48.921 Hz,and the fundamental frequency mode is the bending vibration in the length and width directions.The second order is the bending mode in the length direction,and the third order is the bending mode in the width direction.The fundamental frequency of the two-way modal test of the floor structure is the first-order bending mode in the X direction;and the second-order natural frequency is the second-order bending vibration shape in the X direction.when the uniform load is mainly the weight of floor own,the simulated maximum deflection value is 1.0658 mm;the simulation is performed according to the standard value of 0.566 kN/m for the uniform load of the floor design,and the simulation is the largest.The maximum deflection value of the simulated floor is 1.47383 mm at its midpoint,which meets the requirements of National Building Code of Canada-2015(NBCC).The maximum deflection limit of the light wood structure floor system is lower than 3 m and the maximum deflection limit is 2 mm;the six deflection value test lines simulated under a concentrated load of 1 kN all present a parabolic distribution and are symmetrical.The above results has engineering application value for promoting the research on the vibration characteristics of the fabricated lightweight timber floors structure and its optimization design. 展开更多

The static test of two single light wood trusses and two girder trusses were carried out to explore theperformance enhancement effect of girder trusses and the influence of different connection types on the mechanicalbehavior, which was studied through the comparison of the test results of four trusses. It is found that the girder trussescan show better load-carrying capacity and anti-deforming ability compared with which simply increases the cross-sectionsize of the members. Because of the advantage of the connection materials and the non-fastening connection mechanism,the wood pin-connected truss has more ultimate bearing capacity which is 2.6 times of single truss, and better deformationresistance which is only 66.2% of the nailed one’s creep value. 展开更多
