STILBENOIDS AND PHENANTHRENES FORM ARUNDINA GRAMINIFOLIA(DAI MONORITY MEDICINE) AND ANTITUMOR BIOACTIVITY

The objective was to isolate,elucidate and analyze the bioactive chemicals from the tuber of Arundina graminifolia(Dai Monority Medicine).The compounds were extracted by 95%alcohol and isolated by column chromatography on silica gel,Sephedax LH-20 and ODS.The structures were determined by UV,IR,NMR and MS spectra.

Synthesis of the Active Stilbenoids by Photooxidation Reaction of trans-e-Viniferin

Two new stilbenoids, cis-e-viniferin (3) and 2b,14b-dehydro-bisresveratrol (4) were synthesized by photooxida-tion reaction of trans-e-viniferin (2) prepared from trans-resveratrol (1). Pentamethoxyl trans-e-viniferin (5) and pentamethoxyl cis-e-viniferin (6) were also obtained by methylation of trans-e-viniferin (2) with (MeO)2SO2. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral evidence. Compounds 3 and 4 showed potent inhibition of TNF-a at concentrations of 10-5 molL-1 with inhibitory ratios of 51.43% and 36.64%, respectively.

A new bibenzyl derivative from Pleione bulbocodioides

A new bibenzyl derivative 1, named 2-（4＇＇-hydroxybenzy1）-3-（3＇-hydroxyphenethy1）-5-methoxy-cyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4- dione, and two known stilbenoids （2, 3） were isolated from the tubers of Pleione bulbocodioides （Franch.） Rolfe. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods.

A new tetrastilbene from Caragana sinica

A new tetrastilbene named carasinol D （1） was isolated from the roots of Caragana sinica. Its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. Compound 1 was obtained from carasinol B （2） by an acid-catalyzed conversion.

Paleophytochemical Constituents from the Pliocene Fossil Wood of Pinus Armandii from Longling,Yunnan

Specimens of fossil wood preserved lignified in Pliocene brown coal and identified as Pinus armandii Francher come from an opencast coalmine at Longling in western Yunnan Province, China. Phytochemical investigation of the fossil wood isolated using liquid column chromatography seven compounds （1-7） including a new fluorene derivative named 11,11-dimethyl-11H-benzo[b]fluorene. A further 28 volatiles were detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry （GC-MS）. Spectroscopic investigation methods, including MS and 1D and 2D-NMR techniques elucidated the structure of the seven compounds. Two types of natural products, isopimara and stilbene commonly occuring in extant and Pliocene fossil P. armandii indicate phytochemical fidelity during burial under certain circumstances in sediments. Discovery of stilbenes that can inhibit the activities of wood-destroying fungi in the Pliocene P. armandii prompts the assumption that the chemical preservation of this Pliocene fossil wood of P. armandii in brown coal might contribute to the presence of inner natural inhibitors against wood-destroying fungi.

A new benzofuranolignan and a new flavonol derivative from the stem of Morus australis

A new benzofuranolignan austrafuran A （1） and a new flavonol derivative 5,7,2′,4′-tetrahydroxy-3-methoxyflavone （2） were isolated from the stem of Morus australis. Their structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic evidences.

A new resveratrol tetramer from Caragana rosea

In a continual effort to search for any anti-HIV agent from traditional Chinese medicine, one new resveratrol tetramer, cararosinols B, was isolated from the ethanol extract of aerial parts of Caragana rosea. Its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and comparison with known compounds.
