In this paper,an integrated estimation guidance and control(IEGC)system is designed based on the command filtered backstepping approach for circular field-of-view(FOV)strapdown missiles. The threedimensional integrated estimation guidance and control nonlinear model with limited actuator deflection angle is established considering the seeker's FOV constraint. The boundary time-varying integral barrier Lyapunov function(IBLF)is employed in backstepping design to constrain the body line-of-sight(BLOS)in IEGC system to fit a circular FOV.Then, the nonlinear adaptive controller is designed to estimate the changing aerodynamic parameters. The generalized extended state observer(GESO)is designed to estimate the acceleration of the maneuvering targets and the unmatched time-varying disturbances for improving tracking accuracy.Furthermore, the command filters are used to solve the"differential expansion"problem during the backstepping design. The Lyapunov theory is used to prove the stability of the overall closed-loop IEGC system. Finally, the simulation results validate the integrated system's effectiveness, achieving high accuracy strikes against maneuvering targets. 展开更多

In many engineering networks, only a part of target state variables are required to be estimated. On the other hand,multi-layer complex network exists widely in practical situations. In this paper, the state estimation of target state variables in multi-layer complex dynamical networks with nonlinear node dynamics is studied.A suitable functional state observer is constructed with the limited measurement. The parameters of the designed functional observer are obtained from the algebraic method and the stability of the functional observer is proven by the Lyapunov theorem. Some necessary conditions that need to be satisfied for the design of the functional state observer are obtained.Different from previous studies, in the multi-layer complex dynamical network with nonlinear node dynamics, the proposed method can estimate the state of target variables on some layers directly instead of estimating all the individual states. Thus, it can greatly reduce the placement of observers and computational cost.Numerical simulations with the three-layer complex dynamical network composed of three-dimensional nonlinear dynamical nodes are developed to verify the effectiveness of the method. 展开更多

The present study addresses the problem of fault estimation for a specific class of nonlinear time-varying complex networks, utilizing an unknown-input-observer approach within the framework of dynamic event-triggered mechanism(DETM).In order to optimize communication resource utilization, the DETM is employed to determine whether the current measurement data should be transmitted to the estimator or not.To guarantee a satisfactory estimation performance for the fault signal,an unknown-input-observer-based estimator is constructed to decouple the estimation error dynamics from the influence of fault signals. The aim of this paper is to find the suitable estimator parameters under the effects of DETM such that both the state estimates and fault estimates are confined within two sets of closed ellipsoid domains. The techniques of recursive matrix inequality are applied to derive sufficient conditions for the existence of the desired estimator, ensuring that the specified performance requirements are met under certain conditions. Then, the estimator gains are derived by minimizing the ellipsoid domain in the sense of trace and a recursive estimator parameter design algorithm is then provided. Finally,a numerical example is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed estimator. 展开更多

Due to the interdependency of frame synchronization(FS)and channel estimation(CE),joint FS and CE(JFSCE)schemes are proposed to enhance their functionalities and therefore boost the overall performance of wireless communication systems.Although traditional JFSCE schemes alleviate the influence between FS and CE,they show deficiencies in dealing with hardware imperfection(HI)and deterministic line-of-sight(LOS)path.To tackle this challenge,we proposed a cascaded ELM-based JFSCE to alleviate the influence of HI in the scenario of the Rician fading channel.Specifically, the conventional JFSCE method is first employed to extract the initial features, and thus forms the non-Neural Network(NN)solutions for FS and CE,respectively. Then, the ELMbased networks, named FS-NET and CE-NET,are cascaded to capture the NN solutions of FS and CE.Simulation and analysis results show that, compared with the conventional JFSCE methods, the proposed cascaded ELM-based JFSCE significantly reduces the error probability of FS and the normalized mean square error(NMSE)of CE,even against the impacts of parameter variations. 展开更多

This paper proposes a virtual position-offset injection based permanent magnet temperature estimation approach for permanent magnet synchronous machines(PMSMs). The concept of virtual position-offset injection is mathematically transforming the machine model to a virtual frame with a position-offset. The virtual frame temperature estimation model is derived to calculate the permanent magnet temperature(PMT) directly from the measurements with computation efficiency. The estimation model involves a combined inductance term, which can simplify the establishment of saturation compensation model with less measurements. Moreover, resistance and inverter distorted terms are cancelled in the estimation model, which can improve the robustness to the winding temperature rise and inverter distortion. The proposed approach can achieve simplified computation in temperature estimation and reduced memory usage in saturation compensation. While existing model-based approaches could be affected by either the need of resistance and inverter information or complex saturation compensation. Experiments are conducted on the test machine to verify the proposed approach under various operating conditions. 展开更多

To investigate the real-time mean orbital elements(MOEs)estimation problem under the influence of state jumping caused by non-fatal spacecraft collision or protective orbit trans-fer,a modified augmented square-root unscented Kalman filter(MASUKF)is proposed. The MASUKF is composed of sigma points calculation, time update, modified state jumping detec-tion,and measurement update.Compared with the filters used in the existing literature on MOEs estimation,it has three main characteristics.Firstly, the state vector is augmented from six to nine by the added thrust acceleration terms, which makes the fil-ter additionally give the state-jumping-thrust-acceleration esti-mation.Secondly,the normalized innovation is used for state jumping detection to set detection threshold concisely and make the filter detect various state jumping with low latency.Thirdly, when sate jumping is detected, the covariance matrix inflation will be done, and then an extra time update process will be con-ducted at this time instance before measurement update. In this way,the relatively large estimation error at the detection moment can significantly decrease. Finally, typical simulations are per-formed to illustrated the effectiveness of the method. 展开更多

In order to detect whether the data conforms to the given model, it is necessary to diagnose the data in the statistical way. The diagnostic problem in generalized nonlinear models based on the maximum Lq-likelihood estimation is considered. Three diagnostic statistics are used to detect whether the outliers exist in the data set. Simulation results show that when the sample size is small, the values of diagnostic statistics based on the maximum Lq-likelihood estimation are greater than the values based on the maximum likelihood estimation. As the sample size increases, the difference between the values of the diagnostic statistics based on two estimation methods diminishes gradually. It means that the outliers can be distinguished easier through the maximum Lq-likelihood method than those through the maximum likelihood estimation method. 展开更多

This article presents an up-to-date tutorial review of nonlinear Bayesian estimation. State estimation for nonlinear systems has been a challenge encountered in a wide range of engineering fields, attracting decades of research effort. To date, one of the most promising and popular approaches is to view and address the problem from a Bayesian probabilistic perspective, which enables estimation of the unknown state variables by tracking their probabilistic distribution or statistics(e.g., mean and covariance) conditioned on a system's measurement data. This article offers a systematic introduction to the Bayesian state estimation framework and reviews various Kalman filtering(KF)techniques, progressively from the standard KF for linear systems to extended KF, unscented KF and ensemble KF for nonlinear systems. It also overviews other prominent or emerging Bayesian estimation methods including Gaussian filtering, Gaussian-sum filtering, particle filtering and moving horizon estimation and extends the discussion of state estimation to more complicated problems such as simultaneous state and parameter/input estimation. 展开更多

In order to evaluate the nonlinear performance and the possible damage to rubber-bearings (RBs) during their normal operation or under strong earthquakes, a simplified Bouc-Wen model is used to describe the nonlinear hysteretic behavior of RBs in this paper, which has the advantages of being smooth-varying and physically motivated. Further, based on the results from experimental tests performed by using a particular type of RB (GZN 110) under different excitation scenarios, including white noise and several earthquakes, a new system identification method, referred to as the sequential nonlinear least- square estimation (SNLSE), is introduced to identify the model parameters. It is shown that the proposed simplified Bouc- Wen model is capable of describing the nonlinear hysteretic behavior of RBs, and that the SNLSE approach is very effective in identifying the model parameters of RBs. 展开更多

This paper presents an observer-based nonlinear control method that was developed and implemented to provide accurate tracking control of a limited angle torque motor following a 50Hz reference waveform. The method is based on a robust nonlinear observer, which is used to estimate system states and perturbations and then employ input-output feedbazk linearization to compensate for the system nonlinearities and uncertainties. The estimation of system states and perturbations allows input-output linearization of the nonlinear system without an accurate mathematical model of nominal plant. The simulation results show that the observer-based nonlinear control method is superior in comparison with the conventional model-based state feedback linearizing controller. 展开更多

Aiming at a class of nonlinear systems that contains faults, a novel iterative learning scheme is applied to fault detec- tion, and a novel algorithm of fault detection and estimation is proposed. This algorithm first constructs residual signals by the output of the practical system and the output of the designed fault tracking estimator, and then uses the residuals and the difference- value signal of the adjacent two residuals to gradually revise the introduced virtual faults, which can cause the virtual faults to close to the practical faults in systems, thereby achieving the goal of fault detection for systems. This algorithm not only makes full use of the existing valid information of systems and has a faster tracking con- vergent speed than the proportional-type (P-type) algorithm, but also calculates more simply than the proportional-derivative-type (PD-type) algorithm and avoids the unstable effects of differential operations in the system. The final simulation results prove the validity of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

This study proposes a scheme for state estimation and, consequently, fault diagnosis in nonlinear systems.Initially,an optimal nonlinear observer is designed for nonlinear systems subject to an actuator or plant fault.By utilizing Lyapunov's direct method, the observer is proved to be optimal with respect to a performance function, including the magnitude of the observer gain and the convergence time. The observer gain is obtained by using approximation of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman(HJB)equation.The approximation is determined via an online trained neural network(NN).Next a class of affine nonlinear systems is considered which is subject to unknown disturbances in addition to fault signals. In this case, for each fault the original system is transformed to a new form in which the proposed optimal observer can be applied for state estimation and fault detection and isolation(FDI).Simulation results of a singlelink flexible joint robot(SLFJR)electric drive system show the effectiveness of the proposed methodology. 展开更多

This method allows the estimation of variables that are difficult to access or that are simply impossible to measure. Thus, as compared with a full-order sliding mode observer, in order to reduce the execution time of the estimation, a reduced-order discrete-time Extended sliding mode observer is proposed for on-line estimation of rotor flux, speed and rotor resistance in an induction motor using a robust feedback linearization control. This paper evaluates the state estimation performance for processing nonlinear/non-Gaussian systems using the cubature particle lter(CPF),which is an estimation algorithm that combines the cubature Kalman lter(CKF)and the particle lter(PF).The CPF is essentially a realization of PF where the third-degree cubature rule based on numerical integration method is adopted to approximate the proposal distribution. It is benecial where the CKF is used to generate the importance density function in the PF framework for effectively resolving the nonlinear/non-Gaussian problems.Based on the spherical-radial transformation to generate an even number of equally weighted cubature points, the CKF uses cubature points with the same weights through the spherical-radial integration rule and employs an analytical probability density function(pdf)to capture the mean and covariance of the posterior distribution using the total probability theorem and subsequently uses the measurement to update with Bayes’rule. It is capable of acquiring a maximum a posteriori probability estimate of the nonlinear system, and thus the importance density function can be used to approximate the true posterior density distribution. In Bayesian ltering, the nonlinear lter performs well when all conditional densities are assumed Gaussian. When applied to the nonlinear/non-Gaussian distribution systems, the CPF algorithm can remarkably improve the estimation accuracy as compared to the other particle lterbased approaches, such as the extended particle lter(EPF),and unscented particle lter(UPF),and also the Kalman lter(KF)-type approaches, such as the extended Kalman lter(EKF),unscented Kalman lter(UKF)and CKF.Two illustrative examples are presented showing that the CPF achieves better performance as compared to the other approaches. 展开更多

In this paper, an adaptive gain tuning rule is designed for the nonlinear sliding mode speed control(NSMSC) in order to enhance the dynamic performance and the robustness of the permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motor(PMa-Syn RM) with considering the parameter uncertainties. A nonlinear sliding surface whose parameters are altering with time is designed at first. The proposed NSMSC can minimize the settling time without any overshoot via utilizing a low damping ratio at starting along with a high damping ratio as the output approaches the target set-point. In addition, it eliminates the problem of the singularity with the upper bound of an uncertain term that is hard to be measured practically as well as ensures a rapid convergence in finite time, through employing a simple adaptation law. Moreover, for enhancing the system efficiency throughout the constant torque region, the control system utilizes the maximum torque per ampere technique. The nonlinear sliding surface stability is assured via employing Lyapunov stability theory. Furthermore, a simple sliding mode estimator is employed for estimating the system uncertainties. The stability analysis and the experimental results indicate the effectiveness along with feasibility of the proposed speed estimation and the NSMSC approach for a 1.1-k W PMa-Syn RM under different speed references, electrical and mechanical parameters disparities, and load disturbance conditions. 展开更多
