In this study,to obtain the effective delayed neutron fraction under flow condition, a delayed neutron precursor transport was implemented in the Monte Carlo code MCNP. The moltensalt reactor experiment(MSRE) model was used to analyze the reliability of this method. The obtained flow losses of reactivity for 235 U and 233 U fuels in the MSRE are223 pcm and 100.8 pcm, respectively, which are in good agreement with the experimental values(212 pcm and100.5 pcm, respectively). Then, six groups of effective delayed neutron fractions in a small molten salt reactor were calculated under different mass flow rates. The flow loss of reactivity at full power operation is approximately105.6 pcm, which is significantly lower than that of the MSRE due to the longer residence time inside the active core. The sensitivity of the reactivity loss to other factors, such as the residence time inside or outside the core and flow distribution, was evaluated as well. As a conclusion, the sensitivity of the reactivity loss to the residence time inside the core is greater than to other parameters.展开更多

It is theoretically proved that the delay effect consists of both fiber delay and servo delay. The delay effect confines the servo bandwidth within 1/8 and induces a residual fiber phase noise after noise compensation. For a 25-km-long fiber, the servo bandwidth is found to be around 1 k Hz, and the fiber phase noise is suppressed approaching to the theoretical limitation. The triple-pass scheme enables the simultaneous transfer of optical frequency to multiple remote users. The performance of noise compensator in the triple-pass scheme can achieve a similar level result compared with that in the double-pass scheme.展开更多

In this study, we investigate predator-prey dynamics affected by both delays and the Allee effect. We analyze the consequences of delays in different feedback mechanisms. The existence of a Hopf bifurcation is studied, and we calculate the value of the delay that leads to the Hopf bifurcation. Furthermore, applying the normal form theory and a center manifold theorem, we consider the direction and stability of the Hopf bifurcation. Finally, we present numerical experiments that validate our theoretical analysis. Interestingly, depending on the chosen delay mechanism, we find that delays are not necessarily destabilizing. The Allee effect generally increases the stability of the equilibrium, and when the Allee effect involves a delay term, the stabilization effect is more pronounced.展开更多

Differential atmospheric signals extracted from the SAR data for two selected areas show apparent power law characteristics. The RMS values of the signals are 2.04 and 3.66 rad respectively for the two areas. These differential delays can potentially cause in the two areas peak-to-peak deformation errors of 3.64 and 6.52cm, respectively, at the 95% confidence level and Gaussian distribution. The respective potential peak-to-peak DEM errors are 123 and 221 m. The GPS tropospheric total zenith delays estimate indicates that a peak-to-peak error of about 7.8cm can potentially be caused in a SAR interferogram with only 1 d interval at the 95% confidence level. The error increases to about 9.6cm for 10 d interval. The potential peak-to-peak DEM and deformation errors estimated from GPS total zenith delay measurements are however quite similar to those estimated from InSAR data. This provides us with a useful tool to pre-estimate the potential atmospheric effects in a SAR interferogram before we order the SAR images. Nevertheless, the results reveal that even in a small area the atmospheric delays can obscure centimetre level ground displacements and introduce a few hundred meters of errors to derived DEM.展开更多

The contaminants may change the ignition characteristics of fuels between ground tests and real flights. In order to properly assess the influence of the contaminants on ignition characteristics of hydrocarbon fuels, the effect of water vapor and carbon dioxide on the ignition delay times of China RP-3 kerosene was studied behind reflected shock waves in a preheated shock tube. Experiments were conducted over a wider temperature range of 800-1 500 K, at a pressure of 0.3 MPa, equivalence ratios of 0.5 and 1, and oxygen concentration of 20%. Ignition delay times were determined from the onset of the excited radical OH emission together with the pressure profile. Ignition delay times were measured for four cases: (1) clean gas, (2) gas vitiated with 10% and 20% water vapor in mole, (3) gas vitiated with 10% carbon dioxide in mole, and (4) gas vitiated with 10% water vapor and 10% carbon dioxide, 20% water vapor and 10% carbon dioxide in mole. The results show that carbon dioxide produces an inhibiting effect at temperatures below 1 300 K when Ф = 0.5, whereas water vapor appears to accelerate the ignition process below a critical temperature of about 1 000 K when Ф = 0.5. When both water vapor and carbon dioxide exist together, a minor inhibiting effect is observed at Ф = 0.5, while no effect is found at Ф = 1.0. The results are also discussed preliminary by considering both the combustion reaction mechanism and the thermophysics properties of the fuel mixtures. The current measurements demonstrate vitiation effects of water vapor and carbon dioxide on the autoignition characteristics of China RP-3 kerosene at air-like O2 concentration. It is important to account for such effects when data are extrapolated from ground testing to real flight conditions.展开更多

The delay time decreases as the pumping current increases, and the speed of the delay time reduction becomes slower as the current amplitude increases further. Such delay phenomena are remarkably less serious in laser diodes grown on GaN substrate than those on sapphire. It attributes the delay to the traps which cause a large optical loss by saturable absorption and retard the laser action. The traps can be bleached by capturing injected carriers. The effect of GaAs laser irradiation on InGaN laser action demonstrates that the traps responsible for the delay are deep centres which can be filled by the photo-assisted processes.展开更多

Regenerative effects, "ploughing" or "rubbing" effects between the flank of the cutting edge and the machined surface, and feed effects are considered. It is shown that the regenerative delay is determined by the combination of the cutter rotation and the tool vibrations resulting in a state-dependent time delay. The governing equation is a delay-differential equation with state-dependent delay (SD-DDE), as op- posed to the standard models with constant time delay. Based on Frechet derivative theory, the linearization of periodic state-dependent delay differential equation is also investigated. For a system with practical milling parameters, the incorporation of the state-dependent delay into the model does not essentially affect the linear stability properties of the system.展开更多

The interpretation of delay variability evolvement at intersections gives a comprehensive insight into arterial traffic operation. Thus, an analytical model is proposed to investigate delay variability at coordinated intersections. Two different flow rates are assumed for both effective red and green periods in cumulative curves, through which the effect of signal coordination is incorporated in delay estimation. Then, an analogy of Markov chain process is used to explore the mechanism of stochastic overflow queue at signalized intersections. Numerical case studies show that with the decrease of arrival proportions during green, the shape of delay distribution in both undersaturation and oversaturation cases shifts faster towards higher values, implying that the coordination effect between paired intersections has a great effect on the delay distribution. As for delay fluctuation range, favorable coordination is demonstrated to be able to weaken the variability of delay estimates especially for undersaturation conditions.展开更多

It is based on the classic Queue-Length-Based (QLB)-rate maximum scheduling algorithm and integrated with the delay constraint and the packet priority drop. We use the large deviation principle and the effective capacity theory to construct a new analysis model to find each user's queue length threshold (delay constraint) violation probability. This probability corresponds to the upper bound of the packet drop probability, which indicates a certain level of statistical QoS guarantees. Then, we utilize the priority information of video packets and introduce the packet priority drop to further improve the quality perceived by each user. The simulation results show that the average Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) value of the priority drop is 0.8 higher than that of the non-priority drop and the PSNR value of the most badly damaged video frame in the priority drop is on an average 4 higher than that of the non-priority drop.展开更多

METHODS: The study, a non-randomized comparison of the two approaches, included 421 consecutive patients who underwent surgical resection for complicated sigmoid diverticulitis (Hinchey classification I - II ) at the Department of Surgery, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf between 2004 and 2009. The operating procedure, duration of hospital and intensive care unit stay, outcome, complications and socioeconomic costs were analyzed, with comparison made between the early and delayed elective resection strategies. RESULTS: The severity of the diverticulitis and American Society of Anesthesiologists score were comparable for the two groups. Patients who underwent delayed elective resection had a shorter hospital stay and operating time, and the rate of successfully completed laparoscopic resections was higher (80% vs 75%). Eight patients who were scheduled for delayed elective resection required urgent surgery because of complications of the diverticulitis, which resulted in a high rate of morbidity. Analysis of the socioeconomic effects showed that hospitalization costs were significantly higher for delayed elective resection compared with early elec- tive resection (9296 ± 694 vs 8423 ± 968 ; P = 0.001). Delayed elective resection showed a trend toward lower complications, and the operation appeared simpler to perform than early elective resection. Nevertheless, delayed elective resection carries a risk of complications occurring during the period of 6-8 wk that could necessitate an urgent resection with its consequent high morbidity, which counterbalanced many of the advantages.展开更多

From a study out at the Private Marketing and Trading Services (<em>PMTS</em>) an Authorized Distributor of Airtel Products undertaken in 2017 evidenced by Airtime scratch card and Electronic, <strong><em>E-Recharge</em></strong> Airtime among other forms to encourage <em>R.T.I.T</em> among other products in Telecom Companies and other Business Enterprises. The research comprises of the following areas among which included a detailed focus on a <strong><em>Qualitative</em></strong> and <strong><em>Quantitative approach</em></strong> in obtaining different <strong><em>categories</em></strong> of Restocking Delays in form of <strong><em>Themes</em></strong> and <strong><em>Sub Themes</em></strong> encountered in the Distribution Supply Chain (<em>SC</em>) of <em>AA</em> that is contained in this paper. This research continues to capture an in-depth explanation of the <strong><em>Managerial</em></strong> and <strong><em>Operational</em></strong> causes of restocking delays in respect to <em>AA</em>. Similarly, fast consumer products and services other than <em>AA</em> require a solution to <strong><em>Restocking Delays</em></strong> through implementation of Real Time Inventory Tracking Model (<em>R.T.I.T.M</em>) of <em>AA</em> among Distributor Companies (<em>DCs</em>). This paper also elaborated on Literature, Methodology and Findings obtained from the study. The <strong><em>results</em></strong> were obtained from <strong><em>regression analysis</em></strong> by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (<em>SPSS</em>) that showed a higher significance of <strong><em>Stock Turnover Period</em></strong> and<strong><em> Airtime Denomination</em></strong> as a contributor to Restocking Delays whereas <strong><em>Messages from Airtel</em></strong> Head office to the Distributor had a non-significant contribution to restocking Delays as in Figure 9. The research recommends a Model for <em>R.T.I.T</em> in Telecom Distribution <em>SC</em> of <em>AA </em>and Omnichannel Inventory Management (<em>OIM</em>) as a significant contributor to timely reliable inventory restocking and promotes higher sales among <em>DCs</em> and retailers through minimized Restocking Delays. It shows that the forces of Demand and Supply change over time with different tastes and preferences of customers. The imbalance in <em>AA</em> stock levels changes at given times due to unforeseen forces of consumer demand experienced by <em>DCs</em>, explained by the “<strong><em>Bullwhip Effect</em></strong>” due to information distortion in the Supply Chain (<em>SC</em>).展开更多

Previous studies have reported that chronic treatment with Specific Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) during both late pregnancy and lactation was associated with abnormal behavior in adult rats. These data imply that disturbances in serotoninergic transmission during neurodevelopment may have negative effects on both the structure and function of the resultant adult brain. Therefore, the effect of a single exposure to an SSRI or a tricyclic antidepressant that preferentially inhibits serotonin reuptake during the pre-weaning period was examined in adult mice. An oral infusion of paroxetine (70 mg/kg), fluvoxamine (250 mg/kg), clomipramine (180 mg/kg), or saline was administered on postnatal day 14. Starting at 11 weeks of age, mice were assessed using a comprehensive behavioral test battery. Mice treated with paroxetine demonstrated altered behavior on the open field and hole-board tasks;those treated with fluvoxamine had behavioral changes on the light-dark box, hole-board, and sucrose preference tasks, while alteration in forced swimming and cued fear behavior were noted in mice treated with clomipramine. These results suggest that even a single administration of an antidepressant could have profound effects on behavior in adulthood, although the effects might differ dependent on the specific drug that was administered.展开更多

Such delay phenomena are remarkably less serious in laser diodes grown on GaN substrate than those on sapphire. It attributes the delay to the traps which cause a large optical loss by saturable absorption and retard the laser action. The traps can be bleached by capturing injected carriers. The effect of GaAs laser irradiation on InGaN laser action demonstrates that the traps responsible for the delay are deep centres which can be filled by the photo-assisted processes.

文摘A 2 DOF dynamic model of regenerative chatter model with state-dependent time delay is developed in milling processes. For a system with practical milling parameters, the incorporation of the state-dependent delay into the model does not essentially affect the linear stability properties of the system.

文摘The delay vehicles experience at signalized intersections is one of the most important indicators for measuring intersection performance. As for delay fluctuation range, favorable coordination is demonstrated to be able to weaken the variability of delay estimates especially for undersaturation conditions.

文摘To provide a certain level of Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees for multiuser wireless downlink video streaming transmissions, we propose a multiuser scheduling scheme for QoS guarantees. The simulation results show that the average Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) value of the priority drop is 0.8 higher than that of the non-priority drop and the PSNR value of the most badly damaged video frame in the priority drop is on an average 4 higher than that of the non-priority drop.

文摘Stall delay is an important phenomenon on wind turbine blades. It makes the maximum aerodynamic load of a rotating blade much higher than the one predicted without a correction.A new stall delay model is established here based on the investigation of the flow around a rotating blade. The investigation results indicate that the shrink of separation vortex caused by centrifugal force is the major reason for the stall delay.Multiple factors related to the rotational effects are considered in the proposed model, such as rotating speed, inflow velocity, local chord length and radial position. Finally, the model are validated on the NREL PhaseⅣ blade and the results demonstrate that the accuracy of the aerodynamic prediction for the blade is significantly improved as the model is applied.
文摘AIM: To investigate the outcomes of early and delayed elective resection after initial antibiotic treatment in patients with complicated diverticulitis. Nevertheless, delayed elective resection carries a risk of complications occurring during the period of 6-8 wk that could necessitate an urgent resection with its consequent high morbidity, which counterbalanced many of the advantages.
文摘The <strong><em>purpose</em></strong> of this research was to ascertain causes of Restocking Delays in a Distributor Company of Airtel Airtime (<em>AA</em>) that give justification for benefits of using Real Time Inventory Tracking (<em>R.T.I.T</em>) in an attempt to mitigate Restocking Delays. The imbalance in <em>AA</em> stock levels changes at given times due to unforeseen forces of consumer demand experienced by <em>DCs</em>, explained by the “<strong><em>Bullwhip Effect</em></strong>” due to information distortion in the Supply Chain (<em>SC</em>).
文摘As serotoninergic transmission plays a crucial role in higher brain function in mammals, the disturbance of this system will likely have significant effects on emotion and cognition. These results suggest that even a single administration of an antidepressant could have profound effects on behavior in adulthood, although the effects might differ dependent on the specific drug that was administered.
