BACKGROUND Femoroacetabular impingement(FAI)is a predisposing factor for secondary osteoarthritis of the hip joint. The two extensively described impingement mechanisms of FAI are CAM and Pincer-type.Initially managed conservatively, operative intervention should be offered to the persistently symptomatic patient. The measurement of the alpha angle is considered a standard method of assessing the severity of pathology in Cam-type FAI on pre-operative plain radiographs. The radiological correction of the alpha angle has not been previously compared between different surgical approaches. We hypothesize that there is no difference in alpha angle correction between Ganz surgical hip dislocation and the anterior mini-open approach.AIM To compare the magnitude of alpha angle correction achieved by using the Ganz surgical hip dislocation and the anterior mini-open approach.METHODS This is a retrospective study assessing seventy-nine patients identified in a 5-year period. These patients had preoperative radiographic evidence of FAI and underwent surgery by a single surgeon at our institution,a tertiary care center.Patients with missing radiographic documentation, radiographs with insufficient quality which then precluded accurate measurement of the angleα,a diagnosed congenital condition, isolated type II pathology(Pincer),and history of prior surgery were excluded from the study.Either the Ganz surgical hip dislocation or the anterior mini open approach was used.Postoperative radiographic evaluation of the alpha angle between the two surgical methods was done and corrected for age and gender using two-sample t-tests and Chi-square analyses.RESULTS A total of 79 patients met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Forty-seven males(mean age of 35.3,range 16-53)and 32 females(mean age 36.7,range 16-60)were enrolled.Forty-seven patients underwent the anterior mini-open approach, and 32 underwent the Ganz surgical hip dislocation. There were no significant differences in age between the two surgical groups or in pre-and post-operative alpha angles based on patient gender. The mean pre-operative alpha angle for the Ganz surgical hip dislocation group was 88.0 degrees(SD 12.3)and 99.4 degrees(SD 7.2)for the anterior mini-open group.Mean post-operative angles were 49.9 degrees(SD 4.3)for the Ganz surgical hip dislocation and 43.8(SD 4.3)degrees for the anterior mini-open group. There was a statistically significant difference in patient’s pre-operative and post-operative angles(P=0.000)with both surgical approaches.CONCLUSION Statistically significant decreases in alpha angle were noted for both surgical techniques, with larger decreases seen in the anterior mini-open group. 展开更多

Objective: To analyze the relationship between the numbers of cases experienced and the operation time for a single surgeon aiming to master the TLH surgical technique. Material and Methods: Retrospective data analysis of women who underwent TLH for benign diseases between April, 2014 and March, 2016 was conducted by a single surgeon in a single hospital (Showa University of Fujigaoka Hospital). We divided the main procedures of the TLH operation into five sections, and measured the time required for each section. These cases were divided into three groups, group 1, 2, and 3. Results: There were 54 cases of TLH over two years for a single surgeon, and 21 cases that included essential operative procedures were divided into three groups of seven cases each. The average duration of the surgery (min.) was 178.3 ± 48.2 in the group 1, 128.3 ± 15.6 in the group 2, and 111.3 ± 15.9 in the group 3. A significant reduction in the required time was observed between group 1, 2, and 3 groups. As the number of cases increased, the operation time became statistically significantly shorter for every section except B and D. The skill growth rate was different at each section. Conclusion: For a single surgeon, as the number of surgical cases increased, we recognized the increased skill with the procedure in every section and the rate of skill growth differed for different sections. The difference of growth rate for each section implied that the number of operative cases required for a surgeon in each section was different. 展开更多

Objective: The Surgical Apgar Score (SAS) is a tool for intraoperative stratification of the risk of serious complications in the early postoperative period. It varies from 0 to 10 points divided into three risk categories (0 to 4 high, 5 to 7 moderate, 8 to 10 low). The aim of the study was to evaluate its relevance in predicting the appearance of these complications. Material and methods: This descriptive and analytical study was carried out at the “Laquintinie” Hospital in Douala and at the Central Hospital in Yaounde, Cameroon. The main data were collected on a population of patients over 18 years old and recorded on a survey form. They consisted of variables of main interest and exposure variables. Univariate and multivariate statistical analysis using top-down logistic regression models made it possible to evaluate the association of each variable of main interest and each exposure variable. The association was significant at P Results: Of the 88 patients studied, the SAS was 3 hours. In multivariate, this link persisted only and strongly for the SAS OR (IC) 0.1 (0.1 - 0.2) and p = 000. Conclusion: The study found a specific and powerful link between the SAS score < 4 and the occurrence of complications in the early postoperative period, in favor of its relevance in predicting them. 展开更多

The surgical approach for patellar instability usually refers to reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament associated with an osteotomy of the tibial tuberosity or a trochleoplasty when required. The medial patellotibial ligament and the medial patellomeniscal ligament are secondary stabilizers of the patella.Despite this, both the medial patellotibial and patellofemoral ligaments aid in patellar rotation and tilt when the knee is flexed beyond 45°.The medial patellotibial ligament plays a particularly important role in the final stages of stretching in extension and between 40 degrees to 90 degrees of flexion. The clinical relevance and surgical indications for medial patellotibial ligament reconstruction associated with medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction are still controversial. This editorial explores the surgical indications and clinical results for medial patellotibial ligament reconstruction to improve readers’understanding of this technique, especially because reported clinical outcomes have remained sparse. 展开更多

Objective Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)has become the standard of care for the diagnosis of prostate cancer patients. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of preoperative MRI on the positive surgical margin(PSM)rates. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 1070 prostate cancer patients treated with radical prostatectomy(RP)at Siriraj Hospital between January 2013 and September 2019.PSM rates were compared between those with and without preoperative MRI.PSM locations were analyzed. Results In total,322(30.1%)patients underwent MRI before RP.PSM most frequently occurred at the apex(33.2%),followed by posterior(13.5%),bladder neck(12.7%),anterior(10.7%),posterolateral(9.9%),and lateral(2.3%)positions.In preoperative MRI,PSM was significantly lowered at the posterior surface(9.0%vs.15.4%,p=0.01)and in the subgroup of urologists with less than 100 RP experiences(32%vs.51%,odds ratio=0.51,p<0.05).Blood loss was also significantly decreased when a preoperative image was obtained(200 mL vs.250 mL,p=0.02).Multivariate analysis revealed that only preoperative MRI status was associated with overall PSM and PSM at the prostatic apex.Neither the surgical approach, the neurovascular bundle sparing technique, nor the perioperative blood loss was associated with PSM.Conclusion MRI is associated with less overall PSM,PSM at apex, and blood loss during RP.Additionally, preoperative MRI has shown promise in lowering the PSM rate among urologists who are in the early stages of performing RP. 展开更多

BACKGROUND: Various surgical procedures can be used to treat liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. How to select the most appropriate procedure for patients with portal hypertension has become a difficult problem. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the value of intraoperative free portal pressure (FPP) and postoperative complications, and to explore the significance of intraoperative FPP measurement with respect to surgical procedure selection. METHODS: The clinical data of 187 patients with portal hypertension who received pericardial devascularization and proximal splenorenal shunt combined with devascularization (combined operation) at the Department of General Surgery in our hospital from January 2001 to September 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. Among the patients who received pericardial devascularization, those with a postoperative FPP >= 22 mmHg were included in a high-pressure group (n=68), and those with FPP <22 mmHg were in a low-pressure group (n=49). Seventy patients who received the combined operation comprised a combined group. The intraoperative FPP measurement changes at different times, and the incidence of postoperative complications in the three groups of patients were compared. RESULTS. The postoperative FPP value in the high-pressure group was 27.5 +/- 2.3 mmHg, which was significantly higher than that of the low-pressure (20.9 +/- 1.8 mmHg) or combined groups (21.7 +/- 2.5 mmHg). The rebleeding rate in the high-pressure group was significantly higher than that in the low-pressure and combined groups. The incidence rates of postoperative hepatic encephalopathy and liver failure were not statistically different among the three groups. The mortality due to rebleeding in the low-pressure and combined groups (0.84%) was significantly lower than that of the high-pressure group. CONCLUSIONS: The study demonstrates that FPP is a critical measurement for surgical procedure selection in patients with portal hypertension. A FPP value >= 22 mmHg after splenectomy and devascularization alone is an important indicator that an additional proximal splenorenal shunt needs to be performed. BACKGROUND Postoperative complications remain a paramount concern for surgeons and healthcare practitioners.AIM To present a comprehensive analysis of the Estimation of Physiologic Ability and Surgical Stress(E-PASS)scoring system’s efficacy in predicting postoperative complications following abdominal surgery.METHODS A systematic search of published studies was conducted, yielding 17 studies with pertinent data.Parameters such as preoperative risk score(PRS),surgical stress score(SSS),comprehensive risk score(CRS),postoperative complications,post-operative mortality, and other clinical data were collected for meta-analysis.Forest plots were employed for continuous and binary variables,withχ2 tests assessing heterogeneity(P value).RESULTS Patients experiencing complications after abdominal surgery exhibited significantly higher E-PASS scores compared to those without complications[mean difference and 95%confidence interval(CI)of PRS:0.10(0.05-0.15);SSS:0.04(0.001-0.08);CRS:0.19(0.07-0.31)].Following the exclusion of low-quality studies, results remained valid with no discernible heterogeneity.Subgroup analysis indicated that variations in sample size and age may contribute to hetero-geneity in CRS analysis.Binary variable meta-analysis demonstrated a correlation between high CRS and increased postoperative complication rates[odds ratio(OR)(95%CI):3.01(1.83-4.95)],with a significant association observed between high CRS and postoperative mortality[OR(95%CI):15.49(3.75-64.01)].CONCLUSION In summary, postoperative complications in abdominal surgery,as assessed by the E-PASS scoring system, are consistently linked to elevated PRS,SSS,and CRS scores.High CRS scores emerge as risk factors for heightened morbidity and mortality. This study establishes the accuracy of the E-PASS scoring system in predicting postoperative morbidity and mortality in abdominal surgery, underscoring its potential for widespread adoption in effective risk assessment. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Data from the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer reported that China had the highest prevalence of cancer and cancer deaths in 2022.Liver and pancreatic cancers accounted for the highest number of new cases.Real-world data(RWD)is now widely preferred to traditional clinical trials in various fields of medicine and healthcare,as the traditional research approach often involves highly selected populations and interventions and controls that are strictly regulated.Additionally, research results from the RWD match global reality better than those from traditional clinical trials.AIM To analyze the cost disparity between surgical treatments for liver and pancreatic cancer under various factors.METHODS This study analyzed RWD 1137 cases within the HB1 group(patients who underwent pancreatectomy,hepatectomy,and/or shunt surgery)in 2023.It distinguished different expenditure categories, including medical, nursing, technical, management, drug, and consumable costs.Additionally,it assessed the contribution of each expenditure category to total hospital costs and performed cross-group comparisons using the non-parametric Kruskal–Wallis test. This study used the Steel–Dwass test for post-hoc multiple comparisons and the Spearman correlation coefficient to examine the relationships between variables.RESULTS The study found that in HB11 and HB13,the total hospitalization costs were significantly higher for pancreaticoduodenectomy than for pancreatectomy and hepatectomy.Although no significant difference was observed in the length of hospital stay between patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy and pancreatectomy, both were significantly longer than those who underwent liver resection. In HB15,no significant difference was observed in the total cost of hospitalization between pancreaticoduodenectomy and pancreatectomy;however, both were significantly higher than those in hepatectomy.Additionally, the length of hospital stay was significantly longer for patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy than for those who underwent pancreatectomy or liver resection.CONCLUSION China Healthcare Security Diagnosis Related Groups payment system positively impacts liver and pancreatic cancer surgeries by improving medical quality and controlling costs.Further research could refine this grouping system and ensure continuous effectiveness and sustainability. 展开更多

Background: The optimal time to closure of a newborn with a myelomeningocele has been the focus of a number of evaluations. The Timing of primary surgery has received significant attention due to its relationship to repair-site infection that can lead to increased morbidity and prolonged hospital stays. It is on this basis that recommendations have utilized 48 - 72 hours post birth as ideal time of closure. This is not only prevent infection at the site but also prevent ventriculitis and neural structure damage. We therefore, hypothesized an increase in wound infection rates in those patients with delays in myelomeningocele repair. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the records of 103 children with myelomeningocele treated between 2016 and 2023. At discharge the patients were followed up at the post-operative clinic visit 2 weeks later. Children were assigned to 1 of 2 groups, those who underwent primary neurosurgical repair within 72 hours of delivery (Group 1) and those undergoing repair after 72 hours (Group 2). We compared the infection rates. Results: 103 children who underwent myelomeningocele repair were identified, with a median time from birth to treatment of 1 day. Eight (7.8 %) patients were noted to have post-repair surgical site complications. There was no significant difference in rates of infection between Group 1 and Group 2 repair times. The presence of infection was associated increased length of stay when compared to neonates without infection. Conclusion: In children with myelomeningocele, the timing of primary neurosurgical repair appears not to have a significant impact on surgical site infection. Closure of the spinal lesion within the first 72 hours of life may be more favorable for neural damage prevention. These results suggest that early myelomeningocele repair may not impart significantly on the rate of wound-site infection. 展开更多

Postoperative sleep disturbance is a common occurrence with significant adverse effects on patients including delayed recovery, impairment of cognitive function, pain sensitivity and cardiovascular events. The development of postoperative sleep disturbance is multifactorial and involves the surgical inflammatory response, the severity of surgical trauma, pain, anxiety, the use of anesthetics and environmental factors such as nocturnal noise and light levels. Many of these factors can be managed perioperatively to minimize the deleterious impact on sleep.Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment strategies for postoperative sleep disturbance include dexmedetomidine, zolpidem, melatonin, enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS) protocol and controlling of environmental noise and light levels. It is likely that a combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies will have the greatest impact;however, further research is required before their use can be routinely recommended. 展开更多

AIM: TO study the proper sites and doses of intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) for gastric carcinoma and the effects of this treatment. METHODS: A total of 106 patients with stage Ⅰ -Ⅳ gastric carcinoma who received D2 or D3 radical operation combined with IORT were analyzed. Sixty-seven patients with gastric cancer of the antrum and body underwent distal gastrectomy. The sites of irradiation were at the celiac artery and hepatoduodenal ligment area. Another 39 patients with carcinoma of the cardia and upper part of the gastric body and whole stomach underwent proximal gastrectomy or total gastrectomy. The sites of irradiation for this group were the upper margin of the pancreas and the regional para-aorta. The therapeutic effects (including survival and complications) of these 106 cases received operation combined with IORT (IORT group) were compared with 441 cases treated during the same time period by a radical operation alone (operation group). RESULTS: The radiation dose below 30 Gy was safe. The therapeutic method of the operation combined with IORT did not prolong the survival of patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅳ gastric cancer, but the 5-year survival rates of patients with stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ gastric cancers were significantly improved. The 5-year survival rates of the stages Ⅲ cancer patients receiving D2 resection combined with IORT were markedly improved, while for those receiving D3 radical resection, only the postoperative 3- or 4-year survival rates were improved (P 〈 0.005-0.001). The 5-year survival rate for those patients was raised only by 4.7% (P 〉 0.05). CONCLUSION: The 5-year survival rates of patients with stages Ⅱ and Ⅲ gastric carcinoma who received D2 lymphadenectomy combined with IORT were improved, and there was no influence on the postoperative complications and mortality. 展开更多

AIM: To present an analysis of the surgical and perioperative complications in a series of seventy- five right hepatectomies for living-donation (RHLD) performed in our center. METHODS: From January 2002 to September 2007, we performed 75 RHLD, defined as removal of a portion of the liver corresponding to Couinaud segments 5-8, in order to obtain a graft for adult to adult living-related liver transplantation (ALRLT). Surgical complications were stratified according to the most recent version of the Clavien classification of postoperative surgical complications. The perioperative period was defined as within 90 d of surgery. RESULTS: No living donor mortality was present in this series, no donor operation was aborted and no donors received any blood transfusion. Twenty- three (30.6%) living donors presented one or more episodes of complication in the perioperative period. Seven patients (9.33%) out of 75 developed biliary complications, which were the most common complications in our series.CONCLUSION: The need to define, categorize and record complications when healthy individuals, such as living donors, undergo a major surgical procedure, such as a right hepatectomy, reflects the need for prompt and detailed reports of complications arising in this particular category of patient. Perioperative complications and post resection liver regeneration are not influenced by anatomic variations or patient demographic. 展开更多

BACKGROUND: With the expansion of surgical criteria, the comparative efficacy between surgical resection (SR) and liver transplantation (LT) for hepatocellular carcinoma is inconclusive. This study aimed to develop a prognostic nomogram for predicting recurrence-free survival of hepatocellular carcinoma patients after resection and explored the possibility of using nomogram as treatment algorithm reference. METHODS: From 2003 to 2012, 310 hepatocellular carcinoma patients within Hangzhou criteria undergoing resection or liver transplantation were included. Total tumor volume, albumin level, HBV DNA copies and portal hypertension were included for constructing the nomogram. The resection patients were stratified into low- and high-risk groups by the median nomogram score of 116. Independent risk factors were identified and a visually orientated nomogram was constructed using a Cox proportional hazards model to predict the recurrence risk for SR patients. RESULTS: The low-risk SR group had better outcomes compared with the high-risk SR group (3-year recurrence-free survival rate, 71.1% vs 35.9%; 3-year overall survival rate, 89.8% vs 78.9%, both P<0.001). The high-risk SR group was associated with a worse recurrence-free survival rate but similar overall survival rate compared with the transplantation group (3-year recurrence-free survival rate, 35.9% vs 74.1%, P<0.001; 3-year overall survival rate, 78.9% vs 79.6%, P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: This nomogram offers individualized recurrence risk evaluation for hepatocellular carcinoma patients within Hangzhou criteria receiving resection. Transplantation should be considered the first-line treatment for high risk patients. 展开更多

The goal in brain tumor surgery is to remove the maxi-mum achievable amount of the tumor, preventing damage to "eloquent" brain regions as the amount of brain tumor resection is one of the prognostic factors for time to tumor progression and median survival. To achieve this goal, a variety of technical advances have been in-troduced, including an operating microscope in the late 1950 s, computer-assisted devices for surgical navigation and more recently, intraoperative imaging to incorporate and correct for brain shift during the resection of the lesion. However, surgically induced contrast enhancement along the rim of the resection cavity hampers interpretation of these intraoperatively acquired magnetic resonance images. To overcome this uncertainty, perfusion techniques [dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(DCE-MRI), dynamic susceptibility contrast magnetic resonance imaging(DSC-MRI)] have been introduced that can differentiate residual tumor from surgically induced changes at the rim of the resec-tion cavity and thus overcome this remaining uncer-tainty of intraoperative MRI in high grade brain tumor resection. 展开更多

Laparoscopy is not well vulgarised in our settings. Objective: The main objective was to compare the surgical and post-operative outcomes of laparoscopic versus abdominal myomectomy. Methods: We performed a comparative analytical cross sectional study from 1st January 2016 to 31st March 2018 consisted of two groups: group 1 of women who underwent laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) and group 2 of women who underwent abdominal myomectomy (AM). The data collected was entered in Epi Info 7.2 version and exported to IBM SPSS Statistics version 22 for analysis. We used alpha error margin of 5% and confidence interval of 95%. Results: We enrolled 50 cases of myomectomy consisted of 33 (66.0%) files for AM and 17 (34.0%) files for LM. The clinical presentation of fibroid was similar in both groups. The main operation time (H) was (1.27 ± 0.13) for laparoscopy which is much less than (2.05 ± 0.07) for laparotomy group (p = 0.006). In AM group we had 04 post-operatory complications against zero complications in LM group but the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.387). In the second look laparoscopy, the types of adhesions were not statistically significant (p = 0.471). Conclusion: Laparoscopic offers advantages compared to abdominal myomectomy. 展开更多

Background: Surgical treatment for neuromuscular (NM) hip subluxation or dislocation is undertaken to maintain functionality and decrease pain. Longterm complications are well described;however, the acute complication profile is poorly understood. Questions/Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the rate of and risk factors for complications following surgical treatment of hip subluxation/dislocation, especially as it relate to NM children. Methods: Hip reconstruction cases in patients with a NM diagnosis and non-NM patients were obtained from the 2015 American College of Surgeons NSQIP-Pediatric database by CPT code. 30-day postoperative complications were classified according to the Clavien-Dindo system as minor (grade 1 or 2) or major (grade 3+). Patient and surgical factors were assessed in univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses for association with post-operative complications. Results: 1081 cases were identified (median age 7.7, 55% female), of whom 420 (39%) had a NM diagnosis. Overall complication rate was significantly higher in NM patients (33% vs. 19%, p < 0.001). Numerous factors were associated with postoperative complication on univariate analysis. Multivariate analysis identified NM diagnosis (OR 1.5), age > 6 years (OR 1.5), or pelvic osteotomy (OR 1.9) as independent risk factors for complication. Conclusion: In pediatric reconstructive hip surgery requiring pelvic osteotomy, a NM diagnosis is associated with an increased risk of 30-day postoperative complications. Older age and increasing surgical complexity were also independently associated with complications. These findings support special attention for the older patients undergoing concomitant pelvic osteotomies to minimize complication rate. 展开更多

Introduction:This study aims to describe the occurrence of postoperative complications related to cholesteatoma surgery and to determine factors influencing the most common complication,i.e.postoperative surgical site infection(SSI)in cases with and without mastoid obliteration.Materials and methods:Retrospective analyses were performed on surgically treated cholesteatomas in our hospital between 2013 and 2019.Patient characteristics,peri-and postoperative management and complications were reviewed. The cases were divided into two groups based on whether mastoid obliteration was performed or not. Results:A total of 336 cholesteatoma operations were performed,of which 248 cases received mastoid obliteration. In total 21 complications were observed,of which SSI was the most common(15/21).No difference in occurrence of any postoperative complication was seen between the obliteration and noobliteration group(p=0.798),especially not in the number of SSI(p=0.520).Perioperative and/or postoperative prophylactic antibiotics were not associated to the development of an SSI in both groups. In the no-obliteration group a younger age(p=0.015),as well as primary surgery(p=0.022)increased the risk for SSI.In the obliteration group the use of bioactive glass(BAG)S53P4 was identified as independent predictor of SSI(p=0.008,OR 5.940).Discussion:SSI is the most common postoperative complication in cholesteatoma surgery. The causes of SSI are multifactorial, therefore further prospective research is needed to answer which factors can prevent the development of an SSI in cholesteatoma surgery. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Patients with gastrointestinal tumors often suffer from poor nutritional status during treatment.Surgery is the main treatment for these patients, but the long postoperative recovery period is often accompanied by digestive and absorption dysfunction, leading to further deterioration of the nutritional status.Early enteral nutrition support is hypothesized to be helpful in improving this situation, but the exact effects have yet to be studied in depth.AIM To observe the effect of early enteral nutritional support on postoperative recovery in patients with surgically treated gastrointestinal tract tumors, with the expectation that by improving the nutritional status of patients, the recovery process would be accelerated and the incidence of complications would be reduced, thus improving the quality of life.METHODS A retrospective analysis of 121 patients with gastrointestinal tract tumors treated in our hospital from January 2020 to January 2023 was performed.Fifty-three of these patients received complete parenteral nutrition support as the control group for this study. The other 68 patients received early enteral nutritional support as the observation group of this study. The clinical indicators comparing the two groups included time to fever, time to recovery of postoperative bowel function, time to postoperative exhaustion, and length of hospital stay. The changes in immune function and nutritional indexes in the two groups were compared.Furthermore,we utilized the SF-36 scale to compare the changes in the quality of life between the two groups of patients. Finally, the occurrence of postoperative complications between the two patient groups was also compared.RESULTS The postoperative fever time, postoperative bowel function recovery time, postoperative exhaustion time, and hospitalization time were all higher in the control group than in the observation group(P<0.05).The levels of CD3+,CD4+,immunoglobulin(Ig)A,IgM,and IgG in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group at 1 d and 7 d postoperatively, while CD8+was lower than in the control group(P<0.05).Total protein, albumin, prealbumin, and transferrin levels were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group at 7 d postoperatively(P<0.05).The SF-36 scores of patients in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.0001).The overall incidence of adverse reactions after the intervention was significantly lower in the control group than in the observation group(P=0.021).CONCLUSION We found that patients with gastrointestinal tumors are nutritionally vulnerable, and early enteral nutrition support programs can improve the nutritional status of patients and speed up postoperative recovery. This program can not only improve the immune function of the patient and protect the intestinal function, but it can also help to improve the quality of life of the patient. However, this program will increase the incidence of complications in patients.Caution should be taken when adopting early enteral nutrition support measures for patients with gastric cancer. The patient's condition and physical condition should be comprehensively evaluated and closely monitored to prevent possible complications. 展开更多
