Techniques of Wallpaper(Biao Hu)in the Palace Museum:A Case Study of the Lodge of Bamboo Fragrance(Zhuxiang Guan)

Biao Hu was one of the eight famous traditional crafts in the late Qing dynasty.This skill involved decorating the interiors of ancient buildings such as ceilings,walls,and windows and creating burial objects.It was primarily used for wooden buildings in northern China during the early Qing dynasty.For example,there is white-patterned wallpaper in the Forbidden City utilizing both traditional and nontraditional patterns.Moreover,there was wallpaper with a special pattern in the Lodge of the Bamboo Fragrance(Zhuxiang Guan).Its structure and composition were studied via morphological observations and spectral analyses,the pigments and dyes were analyzed by Raman spectroscopy and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrum(UPLC-MS).Traditional technology and exchanges between China and the West were discussed by the study of patterned wallpapers in other buildings of the Forbidden City.

Clinical research on Tai Chi:a review of health benefits

Tai Chi,a traditional Chinese martial art and health exercise,has gained significant global attention and recognition.The clinical benefits of Tai Chi have been studied extensively in recent decades.We conducted a systematic search of PubMed,Web of Science,EMBASE databases,and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure,identifying and reviewing 241 clinical trials on the benefits of Tai Chi from their inception to June 1,2023.Most of these studies have consistently demonstrated the positive impact of Tai Chi on balance,cognitive function,mood regulation,sleep quality,pain relief,cardiorespiratory function,and overall health.In the future,the key to fostering the ongoing development of this field lies in comprehensive research on standardized study designs and reporting,the scope of Tai Chi applications,and the core factors influencing its efficacy.

The Impact and Intervention of Handheld Tai Chi Water-Resistance Fitness Ball on Middle-Aged and Elderly Patients with Parkinson’s Disease

Through the use of a survey and statistical methods, this study explores the effects and interventions of handheld Tai Chi water resistance fitness balls on the elderly with Parkinson’s disease. Firstly, a questionnaire on exercise compliance for patients with Parkinson’s disease was developed, and its reliability and validity were tested. Then, a survey was conducted to investigate the current status of exercise compliance among Parkinson’s disease patients, including general information, scoring status, and single and multiple factor analyses of influencing factors [1]. The results of the study show that through qualitative research, the dimensions and item pools of the questionnaire were initially constructed, and the reliability analysis of the questionnaire was conducted through Delphi expert consultation, with favorable results in terms of its reliability and validity [2]. Regarding the current status of exercise compliance among Parkinson’s disease patients, the study found that the level of exercise compliance needs improvement, and there are significant differences in exercise compliance levels among patients under different circumstances. Finally, the research results were discussed and conclusions were drawn. The innovation of this study lies in the development of a questionnaire on exercise compliance for patients with Parkinson’s disease and the preliminary qualitative research and Delphi expert consultation conducted on it, providing new ideas and methods for the study of exercise compliance. However, the study also has limitations as it did not examine the effects of other interventions on Parkinson’s disease, so further research should be conducted [3].

April 27 coincided with 2024 World Tai Chi Day.The Spring Temple Fair organized by China Cultural Center in Malta in Jingyuan,a classical Chinese garden located in Santa Lucjia,Malta,attracted more than 1,ooo Maltese people to enjoy Tai Chi performances,Hanfu show,Chinese folk music and song and dance performances,to appreciate the Chinese calligraphy,tea art and Chinese food,achieving in having them immerse themselves in the unique charm of the Chinese culture.

Effects of Tai Chi in diabetes patients: Insights from recent research

Tai Chi,a practice that combines elements of both exercise and mindfulness,offers a wide range of health benefits.The body of evidence concerning the impact of Tai Chi on diabetes has recently been growing.This editorial aims to provide a concise summary of the current state of evidence for Tai Chi's effects on individuals with type 2 diabetes(T2D).The review includes 3 randomized controlled trials(RCTs)and 5 systematic reviews and meta-analyses,all of which investigate the effectiveness of Tai Chi on various health outcomes in individuals with T2D.Tai Chi demonstrates a significant effect to enhance glycemic control,lower blood pressure,improve serum lipid profiles,reduce insulin resistance,positively influence obesity-related indices,and improve overall quality of life in individuals with T2D.However,it is noteworthy that recent RCTs have reported inconsistent findings regarding the effects of Tai Chi on glycemic control and insulin resistance.The author also delves into potential mechanisms by which Tai Chi may exert its influence on the human body.Finally,the editorial highlights the critical issues that warrant further exploration in the future.

Analysis on the Layout Evolution and External Space Characteristics of the Red Gate Palace in Taishan

This article organizes and analyzes the historical evolution as well as the current situation of the Red Gate Palace,and probes into the artistic characteristics of the exterior space of the building.The conclusions are as follows:Relying on the unique forest environment of Mount Tai,the Red Gate Palace forms an impression of negative yin-yang where it is overlooking waters and with hills at the back.The guiding space comprising of the climbing route,the archway,and the Feiyun Pavilion which is built on the crossroad plays the role of guidance and suggestion;forming a complete spatial sequence with rhythm.The courtyard space which constitutes the east and west courtyards,in addition to the Little Taishan Temple is reasonable and ingenious in layout along with rich as well as well-proportioned spaces,and pleasant in scale.

Environmental Renovation and Improvement Strategies for the Great Relics——A Case Study of Landscape Planning for the Front Hall Relics of the Weiyang Palace in China

Through introducing concepts of great relics and its protective planning theories, construction of relics park is a characteristic protection mode for cultural heritage in China, and also a useful exploration in the combination of theories and practices of great relics protection. Moreover, it is also the best means of protecting great relics ever found. Taking landscape planning of the front hall relics of the Weiyang Palace, relics of the front hall was believed to have great scientific value, so its environmental renovation and improvement should be based on scientific landscape planning, the whole relics should be protected and displayed scientifically and completely, landscape elements introduced as the effective texture by applying ecological patterns according to actual conditions, new techniques favorable for the protection and scientific research of relics adopted to provide a new strategy for the construction of great ruins park in China.

Intervention Retrofitting and Rehabilitation of Al-Gawhara Palace at the Saladin Citadel, Cairo, Egypt

Al-Gawhara Palace also known as Bijou Palace is located in the south of the Mosque of Muhammad Ali in Saladin Citadel in Cairo (Figure 1 and Figure 2). It was commissioned and constructed by Muhammad Ali Pasha in 1814. Al-Gawhara Palace is one of the most famous historical royal palaces in Egypt and the most important modern architectural heritage that reflects an important historical period of the Egyptian modern history—the period of the rule of the family of “Muhammad Ali Pasha”. The causes of structural deficiency of the palace could be attributed to many reasons and actions, mainly due to the earthquakes and seismic events (in particular the Dahshuor earthquake, in October 1992), degradation of drainage and feeding systems leading to water leakage, lack of awareness of the palace values, deterioration resulting from the use of old government agencies and the conflicts among authorities supervising historical buildings. The present study includes many phases: 1) the significance of the original building from the circumstances and date of construction;2) detailed studies of the architectural features and design of the building as well as construction type, methods and techniques of construction;3) characterization of the construction and building materials;4) stability analysis of the structure under static and the impact of seismic loadings;5) engineering measures for intervention retrofitting of the palace (this pilot study presents the main design studies for intervention retrofitting and the rehabilitation and re-employment of Al-Gawhara Palace, started from the static monitoring, old and modern documenting of the current state of preservation thorough the strengthening project implementation;6) the study also presents the reuse designs to convert the palace to be a national museum, for the purpose of preserving it by proposing the best means to apply the correct principles and criteria for reuse and employment in a manner that preserves its value through the functions that fit these deficiencies, and the appropriateness of the present function of the value of minors.

音乐剧是一种结合歌唱、对白、表演、舞蹈等多种因素的舞台艺术形式,通过歌曲、台词、音乐、肢体动作等因素的完美结合,把故事情节以及人物情感生动表现出来[1]。《These Palace Walls》是音乐剧版本《阿拉丁》中茉莉公主特有的一个唱段,笔者在筹备研究生"英才计划"项目音乐会时要演唱这首歌曲,因此有着切身的演唱及表演体验。本文将从音乐剧的歌唱、表演、对白以及笔者自身实践几个方面,来进行音乐剧舞台呈现形式魅力之探析,以期让更多的人喜爱上音乐剧,并感受音乐剧的魅力。

Application of Classical Garden Cultural Aesthetics in Landscape Planning and Design:A Case Study of Huaqing Palace in Xi'an City of China

Taking Huaqing Palace in Xi'an City for example,landscape architectural features of Huaqing Palace,its classical garden cultural heritage and aesthetic consciousness of landscape culture were analyzed.It was proposed that its rich cultural characteristics and aesthetic elements should be fully used,modern landscape planning theories and design techniques applied to integrate into the designs,satisfy requirements of modern people's life,fully demonstrate history,culture and aesthetic characteristics of the scenic area,and also support its future construction.

Landscape Destruction of the Potala Palace Square in Tibet

This paper, with the Potala Palace Square as the object of study, uses the post occupancy method to carry out a field investigation in a joint manner of questionnaire survey, interviews and behavioral trails observation, so as to analyze the landscape destruction behavior of the Potala Palace Square. The results show that the existing problems in design and management of that square as well as the public are responsible for the destruction; male foreign tourists in all ages, who mostly are the unemployed, students and service employees, prove to be destructors. The Potala Palace Square is characterized by regionalism. Opinions on green effect, management and other options of inland public and local residents vary from one to another. Designers and the administrative department of the square are required to come up with countermeasures to avoid the destruction. In practical design, designers must comply with the thinking of "Design Must be for People" and natural ecological principles, and the administrative department should scientifically manage and maintain the square.
