The objectives of this research were (1) to study on students' achievement after implementing social media with teaching in course of Technology and Innovation for Teachers; (2) to study on students' opinions on...The objectives of this research were (1) to study on students' achievement after implementing social media with teaching in course of Technology and Innovation for Teachers; (2) to study on students' opinions on implementing social media with teaching in the course for undergraduates; and (3) to study on behavior of 38 students in Thai Language major, Faculty of Education, towards implementing social media with teaching in the course for undergraduates who attended the course in academic year 2014. The data was collected by using a learning achievement test before and after implementing social media in the course and a questionnaire for students concerning their opinions regarding implementing social media with the course. The data was analyzed by finding percentage, mean, standard deviation (SD), t-test dependent, and behavioral observation. The result showed that (I) the post-study achievement of 38 students was significantly higher than pre-study achievement with a statistical significance of .05; (2) the students "mostly agreed" on implementing social media with the course (μ = 4.40, σ = .37). After considering in each aspect, it was found that the three aspects that reached highest score respectively were overall image of implementing social media in classes (μ= 4.74, σ = .45). Followed by those that reached the same score, which were, "implementing social media allowed students to exchange experience, knowledge, and attitudes between each other more" with (μ = 4.66, σ = .48), "implementing social media allowed students and teachers to exchange experience, knowledge, and attitudes with teachers more" with (μ = 4.66, σ = .48), "allowed students to work with each other or do more self-study" with (μ = 4.66, σ = .48), "allowed students to study by themselves" with (μ = 4.66,σ = .48), and "implementing social media in classes allowed students to submit assignment, and receive suggestions for improvement at all times" with (μ = 4.66, σ = .48). The third was "implementing social media in classes allowed more methods for students to communicate with teachers" with (μ = 4.53, σ = .51); and (3) behaviors of implementing social media with the course showed that (a) in terms of promoting knowledge, social media helped promoting knowledge between friends and between students and teachers in various concepts, which was the part that linked to practicing living together in society with others; (b) in terms of communication, students had a change to participate in more socialization by debating or asking questions via Facebook; (c) in terms of strengthening motivation, students were enthusiastic to learn and used the Facebook group for communication; (d) in terms of adjusting an opened-learning environment, this promoted the behavior that students would study and learn anywhere outside of classrooms,which helped learners to always learn not just in their classes; moreover, this would form the behavior of being able to work anywhere anytime, improve, and adjust their works by having records of the changes as well; and (e) in terms of supporting and promoting two-way communication, students were able to communicate and exchange information more than just in class and they were also encouraged to compete by producing portfolios and present them on Facebook and YouTube.展开更多
Land use/cover change, which in China is characterized by urbanization resulting in a decrease in arable land in the east along with a large area of grassland being cultivated in the west, has been accelerated by rapi...Land use/cover change, which in China is characterized by urbanization resulting in a decrease in arable land in the east along with a large area of grassland being cultivated in the west, has been accelerated by rapid economic development in the last years. All of the above changes will affect sustainable development in the next century. The Chinese Academy of Sciences is conducting a study of land use/cover change over the last ten years based on the integration of remote sensing and GIS technology to establish a multitemporal database covering all of China. Fundamental data for land use/cover for the year 1996 has already been developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In order to reconstruct fundamental land use/cover data for the year 1986, a central data processing and analyzing system and a regional data acquisition, processing and analyzing system have been established and are joined together as a network. After the 1986 database is established, the comparative research on the reduction in arable land, urbanization, desertification, changes in forest and grassland, and lake and wetland land use/cover change will be carried out. In addition, a transect for a key regional comparative study was selected along the Changjiang (Yangtze) River. The driving forces of these changes also will be extracted. The result of this study will be not only make a contribution to global land use/cover change research, but will also support decision making for sustainable national development.展开更多

Promoting smallholder farmers’ adoption o...China is characterized as ’a large country with many smallholder farmers’ whose participation in modern agriculture is key to the country’s modern agriculture development. Promoting smallholder farmers’ adoption of modern agricultural production technology is one effective way to improve the capabilities of smallholder farmers. This paper aims to explore the impact of Internet use on the adoption of agricultural production technology by smallholder farmers based on a survey of 1 449 smallholders across 14 provinces in China. The results suggest that Internet use can significantly promote technology adoption, with the probability of adopting new crop varieties, water-saving irrigation technology and straw-returning technology increasing by 0.200, 0.157 and 0.155, respectively. Furthermore, the effect of Internet use is found to be heterogeneous with a greater effect on smallholder farmers having low education levels, limited training, and high incomes. To increase agricultural production technology adoption by smallholders, rural Internet infrastructure and Internet use promotion should be the focus for the Chinese government.展开更多
The issue of new technology applications in education is a worldwide concern.Following a thorough review of current studies,this paper believes that new technology in a broad sense has"hard technology"(refer...The issue of new technology applications in education is a worldwide concern.Following a thorough review of current studies,this paper believes that new technology in a broad sense has"hard technology"(referring to new inventions,discoveries,and creations that can be practically operated and applied)and"soft technology"(generally referring to technology formed in all industry fields in response to new changes,new markets,new industries,and new business models,such as innovative marketing models,new team building,and management strategizing,cultural and creative skills,etc.),with distinctive and external and internal connotations.In a narrow sense,new technology refers to the most recent and cutting-edge technology in a particular industry field.There are also definitions that are based on their applicability,such as referring to new operation methods as new technologies.The premise of how to precisely implement new technology application education in higher education is to understand how students in higher education institutions think.For this reason,this study takes senior graduate students as its target,and through the statistics and analysis of survey data,we get three results.First,education featuring applications of new technology proves highly compelling,particularly given its importance in graduates'career development,thus garnering support;second,such education is both conceptual and practice-based;third,education concerned with the application of new technologies can be carried out in any major,both in engineering and non-engineering disciplines,with different requirements for educational content and technical skills according to the varying disciplines.Based on the investigation and analysis,we propose solutions and recommend methods of applying new applications in higher education.展开更多

[Method] At semi-arid and arid areas in t...[Objective] The study aimed at analyzing the dynamic variation of land-use types of the constructed wetland before and after oil-field water irrigation based on 3S technology. [Method] At semi-arid and arid areas in the west of Jilin Province, water resource balance between the amount of oil-field water supply and ecological water requirement in the constructed wetland irrigated by oil-field water during 2001-2010 was investigated firstly. Afterwards, based on 3S technology, the partition and dynamic variation of land-use types of the constructed wetland before and after oil-field water irrigation in 2001, 2006, 2008 and 2010 were analyzed. [Result] The annual ecological water requirement of the constructed wetland from 2003 to 2010 varied from 1.62×106 to 2.24×106 m3, and the annual amount of oil-field water supply in the region changed from 2.12×106 to 2.84×106 m3, which showed that the supply amount of oil-field water could meet the basic ecological water requirement of the constructed wetland. Meanwhile, compared with 2001, the areas of water region and paddy field in 2010 increased by 2.3 and 10.0 times, and the areas of forest and marsh rose by 40.15% and 29.5.0% respectively. [Conclusion] Water shortage and ecological environment problem of arid and semi-arid areas had been improved by oil-field water irrigation.展开更多

In the investigation, remote sensing technology was comprehensively adopted. At present, the investigation in county level had been completed and the compilation is going to be carried out. The theoretical part includes the development of an algorithm used to obtain an interesting class or partition from a hierarchy. The experimental work carried out included design, preparation and application of a questionnaire to higher education students in Mexico. Purpose This study investigates university in-service English as a Foreign Language(EFL)teachers’perceptions of technology integration and the relevant factors that may affect their technology integration in the clas...Purpose This study investigates university in-service English as a Foreign Language(EFL)teachers’perceptions of technology integration and the relevant factors that may affect their technology integration in the classroom.Design/Approach/Methods This multiple case study applies Teo's extended technology acceptance model(TAM)and the theory of teacher value beliefs associated with using technology to explore seven in-service EFL teachers’perceptions of effective technology integration and the challenges they encountered.Findings This study suggests that(1)perceived usefulness and(2)teacher value beliefs are two important factors that influence in-service teachers’technology integration.Additional factors are(3)subjective norm,(4)facilitating conditions of the environment,and(5)cultural values.Originality/Value This study contributes to the existing literature on in-service EFL teachers’technology integration and increases the applicability of the extended TAM in China.This study also provides insights into these teachers’perceptions and practices of technology integration.Finally,insights gleaned from this study will guide school-level,local,and national educational policy groups on optimally supporting in-service teachers’future technology integration.展开更多
Purpose This study aimed to explore how educational technology influenced a preparatory teacher education program using heteroglossic and global approaches.Design/Approach/Methods The researchers drew upon the theoret...Purpose This study aimed to explore how educational technology influenced a preparatory teacher education program using heteroglossic and global approaches.Design/Approach/Methods The researchers drew upon the theoretical framework of multilingual digital storytelling(MDST),which emphasizes the intercultural awareness attributes of multilingual learners(MLs)and takes a heteroglossic perspective in linguistic pedagogy.This qualitative case study examined the experiences of 11 U.S.-based preservice teachers(PSTs)and 12 MLs elementary students in Korea in the MDST project of a TESOL methods course.Findings The findings showed that PSTs and MLs enhanced their appreciation for educational technology,multilingualism,and intercultural awareness.Although the project aimed to decenter English as a hegemonic language,both PSTs and MLs maintained traditional discourses that privileged English over MLs’home language and targeted literacy correctness in written English only,moving away from the heterogeneous goals of the course project.PSTs and MLs also faced challenges in navigating technological tools,which negatively affected their perception of the project.Originality/Value This study contributes to heteroglossic approaches in preparatory TESOL teacher education programs and improves the understanding of challenges in educational technology use for global multilingual exchanges to promote global citizenship.展开更多

A qualitative and quantitative approach is adopted to explore these phenomena due to the exploratory nature of the research. Findings of this study identify some of the motivators and issues associated with the wireless handheld technology in healthcare environment. Furthermore, it is also found that these wireless handheld devices can help to improve the quality of care through better decision making processes. This paper aims to explore the impact of Internet use on the adoption of agricultural production technology by smallholder farmers based on a survey of 1 449 smallholders across 14 provinces in China. The results suggest that Internet use can significantly promote technology adoption, with the probability of adopting new crop varieties, water-saving irrigation technology and straw-returning technology increasing by 0.200, 0.157 and 0.155, respectively. Furthermore, the effect of Internet use is found to be heterogeneous with a greater effect on smallholder farmers having low education levels, limited training, and high incomes. To increase agricultural production technology adoption by smallholders, rural Internet infrastructure and Internet use promotion should be the focus for the Chinese government.

文摘The issue of new technology applications in education is a worldwide concern.Following a thorough review of current studies,this paper believes that new technology in a broad sense has"hard technology"(referring to new inventions,discoveries,and creations that can be practically operated and applied)and"soft technology"(generally referring to technology formed in all industry fields in response to new changes,new markets,new industries,and new business models,such as innovative marketing models,new team building,and management strategizing,cultural and creative skills,etc.),with distinctive and external and internal connotations.In a narrow sense,new technology refers to the most recent and cutting-edge technology in a particular industry field.There are also definitions that are based on their applicability,such as referring to new operation methods as new technologies.The premise of how to precisely implement new technology application education in higher education is to understand how students in higher education institutions think.For this reason,this study takes senior graduate students as its target,and through the statistics and analysis of survey data,we get three results.First,education featuring applications of new technology proves highly compelling,particularly given its importance in graduates'career development,thus garnering support;second,such education is both conceptual and practice-based;third,education concerned with the application of new technologies can be carried out in any major,both in engineering and non-engineering disciplines,with different requirements for educational content and technical skills according to the varying disciplines.Based on the investigation and analysis,we propose solutions and recommend methods of applying new applications in higher education.

文摘[Objective] The study aimed at analyzing the dynamic variation of land-use types of the constructed wetland before and after oil-field water irrigation based on 3S technology. [Method] At semi-arid and arid areas in the west of Jilin Province, water resource balance between the amount of oil-field water supply and ecological water requirement in the constructed wetland irrigated by oil-field water during 2001-2010 was investigated firstly. Afterwards, based on 3S technology, the partition and dynamic variation of land-use types of the constructed wetland before and after oil-field water irrigation in 2001, 2006, 2008 and 2010 were analyzed. [Result] The annual ecological water requirement of the constructed wetland from 2003 to 2010 varied from 1.62×106 to 2.24×106 m3, and the annual amount of oil-field water supply in the region changed from 2.12×106 to 2.84×106 m3, which showed that the supply amount of oil-field water could meet the basic ecological water requirement of the constructed wetland. Meanwhile, compared with 2001, the areas of water region and paddy field in 2010 increased by 2.3 and 10.0 times, and the areas of forest and marsh rose by 40.15% and 29.5.0% respectively. [Conclusion] Water shortage and ecological environment problem of arid and semi-arid areas had been improved by oil-field water irrigation.
文摘Tibet Plateau is Known as "the Roof of the World" with the area of 1,220,000km^2, which is about 1/8 land area of China. Because of the high elevation, cold climate and it caused difficulties in regional economic planning and land resources management. Since 1985, the land use investigation in Tibet has been carried out, in which the basic data and thematic maps must be obtained and completed at county and township levels, in order to meet the needs of local administrations. In the investigation, remote sensing technology was comprehensively adopted. At present, the investigation in county level had been completed and the compilation is going to be carried out. Due to paying a great attention to studying on a series of key technical problems, the systematic methods of using remote sensing technology in the plateau land use investigation were formed and successfully put into application.

文摘Using the theory shown, Cores Optimal Criterion, three factors from which hierarchical aggregation of variables under study was built, as well as hierarchical cores showing the level of use of pocket computing technologies by students. The principal factors influencing the level of use of pocket computing technologies among higher education students are analyzed from a theoretical aggregation development based on hierarchical cores. The theoretical part includes the development of an algorithm used to obtain an interesting class or partition from a hierarchy. The experimental work carried out included design, preparation and application of a questionnaire to higher education students in Mexico. A pilot test was carried out to check timing and repetition of questions. Data was recorded, validated, and mathematically and statistically analyzed.
文摘Purpose This study investigates university in-service English as a Foreign Language(EFL)teachers’perceptions of technology integration and the relevant factors that may affect their technology integration in the classroom.Design/Approach/Methods This multiple case study applies Teo's extended technology acceptance model(TAM)and the theory of teacher value beliefs associated with using technology to explore seven in-service EFL teachers’perceptions of effective technology integration and the challenges they encountered.Findings This study suggests that(1)perceived usefulness and(2)teacher value beliefs are two important factors that influence in-service teachers’technology integration.Additional factors are(3)subjective norm,(4)facilitating conditions of the environment,and(5)cultural values.Originality/Value This study contributes to the existing literature on in-service EFL teachers’technology integration and increases the applicability of the extended TAM in China.This study also provides insights into these teachers’perceptions and practices of technology integration.Finally,insights gleaned from this study will guide school-level,local,and national educational policy groups on optimally supporting in-service teachers’future technology integration.
文摘Purpose This study aimed to explore how educational technology influenced a preparatory teacher education program using heteroglossic and global approaches.Design/Approach/Methods The researchers drew upon the theoretical framework of multilingual digital storytelling(MDST),which emphasizes the intercultural awareness attributes of multilingual learners(MLs)and takes a heteroglossic perspective in linguistic pedagogy.This qualitative case study examined the experiences of 11 U.S.-based preservice teachers(PSTs)and 12 MLs elementary students in Korea in the MDST project of a TESOL methods course.Findings The findings showed that PSTs and MLs enhanced their appreciation for educational technology,multilingualism,and intercultural awareness.Although the project aimed to decenter English as a hegemonic language,both PSTs and MLs maintained traditional discourses that privileged English over MLs’home language and targeted literacy correctness in written English only,moving away from the heterogeneous goals of the course project.PSTs and MLs also faced challenges in navigating technological tools,which negatively affected their perception of the project.Originality/Value This study contributes to heteroglossic approaches in preparatory TESOL teacher education programs and improves the understanding of challenges in educational technology use for global multilingual exchanges to promote global citizenship.

文摘In recent years,sewage treatment has become a common concern of cities,and proper sewage treatment will directly benefit cities by facilitating their healthy and fast development. In this study,the principles of sludge treatment and disposal such as reduction,stabilization,harmlessness,resource utilization,and low carbonization were introduced. Afterwards,the advantages and disadvantages of ways to dispose sewage were analyzed,and some new techniques were also introduced. In a word,it was advisable to treat sewage properly based on actual conditions.
文摘Firstly, physical and chemical properties of dust removed from BOF gas are analyzed, and then the cold banding technology of dust removed from BOF gas and its application are introduced. Tests have proved that using cooled agglomerated pellets made of the dust removed from BOF gas and small amounts of modified starch as a coolant and slagging agent in steel production can bring about considerable economic, social and environmental benefits.
文摘One of the emerging technologies is wireless handheld technology. Implication of these devices is enormous for business community and healthcare domain is not an exception to this phenomena. This research paper provides some useful findings about the use of PDA's in the healthcare environment through actual usage of PDA in the healthcare ward. A qualitative and quantitative approach is adopted to explore these phenomena due to the exploratory nature of the research. Findings of this study identify some of the motivators and issues associated with the wireless handheld technology in healthcare environment. Furthermore, it is also found that these wireless handheld devices can help to improve the quality of care through better decision making processes. This study is limited to only one sate of Australian and further research is needed to see the implication of the findings to wider community and other domains in the Australian environment.
