Our optieal measurement indicates that the material has a low carrier density. More inter- estingly, the study reveals that the plasma frequency increases with decreasing temperature. This phenomenon suggests either an increase of the conducting carrier density or/and a decrease of the effective mass of carriers with decreasing temperature. We attribute it primarily to the latter effect. Two possible scenarios on its physical origin are examined and discussed. The study offers new insight into the electronic structure of this compound.展开更多

Activity evaluation and heat resisting test show that the perovskite type compounds La 1-x Ce xFeO 3(·K) has a good thermal stability if x is less than or equal to 0.5 . But when x is greater than 0.5 , La 1-x Ce xFeO 3(·K) will turn out to be ceria and magnetite partially or completely at high temperature in the shift reaction atmosphere. In the case of x=0.5, the conversion of carbon monoxide is about 68% at 530 ℃. Potassium can greatly improve the low temperature activity, but slightly lower the high temperature activity, and has little impact on the thermal stability. La 0.5 Ce 0.5 FeO 3 (·K) is a promising chromium free high temperature shift catalyst.展开更多

The results show that a thermal regime shift in SIO during the 1960 s, which is not caught enough attentions, has been of equal magnitude to the linear warming since 1970. Empirical Orthogonal Function(EOF) analyses reveal that a thermal shift is combined with atmospheric changes such as the weakening of westerly during the period of 1960–1967. Inner dynamic connections can be defined that when the westerly winds turn weak, the anticyclonic wind circulation between westerly winds and the trade winds decreases, which further reduces the SST to a negative peak in this period. It is noted that the shifts in the 1960 s are also evident for Southern Hemisphere. For example, subtropical high and the entire westerly winds belt at high latitudes both change dramatically in the 1960 s. This large-scaled process maybe link to the change of southern annular mode(SAM).展开更多

Furthermore, due to adding 4.7 mol% Li1+ and 4.6 mol% Zn2+ ions into the glass, an optimum composition structure based laser material was demonstrated. On the other hand, since the high temperature melting method with changeable temperature control was used, the emission cross section of fl uorescence, excited lifetime, and an effective spectral half width reached 9.70 × 10-21 cm2, 8.20 ms, and 53.16 nm, respectively, so that a laser gain(semi× rad) of 103.05 was obtained, which is signifi cantly higher than previously reported results. The manuscript also argued the mechanism of relevant laser gain improvement.展开更多

But rare examples show the opposite trend that originates from the structural changes of the hydrogen bond, known as the geometric H/D isotope effect. Herein, we report an organic crystal, diethylammonium hydrogen 1,4-terephthalate, exhibits a reversible structural phase transition and dielectric switching. Structural study shows the cations reside in channels formed by one-dimensional hydrogen-bonded anionic chains and undergo an order-disorder transition at around 206 K. The deuterated counterpart shows an elongation of the O…O hydrogen bond by about 0.005 A. This geometric isotope effect releases the internal pressure of the anionic host on the cation guests and results in a downward shift of the phase transition temperature by 10 K.展开更多
