The culture-loaded word is a symbol of national culture,since national culture with distinctive features is directly or indirectly reflected in its vocabulary.This paper is driven both by qualitative research and by quantitative method through the comparison and analysis of translation strategies involved in the five types of material culture-loaded-words,namely,apparel,diet,equipment,architecture and medicine,in The Story of Stone by David Hawkes.With the final quantitative statistics of the proportion of each translation method,it aims to scrutinize either the broad spectrum or the specific characteristics of those translation strategies so as to provide a perspective for the study of cultural translations.

濮文暹与甲戌本及半亩园

刘铨福旧藏甲戌本时期,濮文暹与濮文昶兄弟是较早的该本读者,书后还留有二人的亲笔跋语及印鉴,时间是同治四年(1865)乙丑孟秋,地点是京城豪宅半亩园。濮氏昆仲与甲戌本、刘铨福及完颜崇实、崇厚、嵩申、华毓之间的牵连瓜葛,理应复查稽核一番,藉此返回历史现场,以便解惑答疑。结果表明,已知史料与濮跋信息高度吻合,濮氏兄弟与半亩园主人崇实等关系确甚密切。细读《见在龛诗钞》与《味雪龛词稿》,还可获知濮文昶的生卒年。包括濮跋在内的甲戌本卷尾跋语七条时序错乱,那是自然而然形成的,并无问题。在国家图书馆古籍部发现濮文昶的《味雪龛词稿》抄本残卷,是一宗副产品。

体认语言学视域下的“一点”英译研究--以霍克思、闵福德《红楼梦》英译本为例

汉语量词“点”表示不定小量,在历时演变中发生语义泛化。在“一点”量名结构中,“一点”较少突显名词所指事物的属性;而相应的英语表达可突显事物的多维属性。本文依据体认语言学的核心原则“现实—认知—语言”,以霍克思、闵福德《红楼梦》英译本中“一点”的英译为例,探究译者的认知过程。研究发现,在“现实—认知—语言”的翻译再建构中,译者对原文的语境内外关系进行重新评估(现实),按译语规约对名词所指事物的某种(些)属性进行有意识突显(认知),使译文(语言)有了新的认知特征。

南武野蛮《新石头记》与清末中国“成长小说”的生成

学界普遍认为中国“成长小说”(Bildungsroman)诞生于“五四”时期,“五四”之前具有成长小说雏形的作品几乎全部为译作。实际上,清末南武野蛮的《红楼梦》续作《新石头记》是一部完全萌芽于中国的原创成长小说。与吴趼人同名小说中欲速不达的“伪成长”不同,南武野蛮详细描画主人公贾宝玉循序渐进的成长轨迹,关注个体与国家的相衍相生,在同时代文学创作中具有超前的现代性。南武野蛮《新石头记》中鲜明的成长因素离不开主人公贾宝玉这一人物形象的特殊性,更与其时代背景下的清末新政和留学浪潮密切相关。以南武野蛮《新石头记》为代表的清末成长小说虽然具有一定的时代局限,但依然可以被视为近代中国试图冲破阻碍、谋求发展的家国隐喻。
