However, in previous investigation, the analysis on the measurement error was qualitative and only focused on the total effects on the measurement without decoupling the influencing factors. This paper discusses the effects of influencing factors on the measurement results for the interface propagation-based method. Numerical simulations were performed to explore the influencing factors, namely model simplification, subcooling and natural convection, along with their impact on the measurement process and corresponding measurement results. The numerical solutions were provided in terms of moving curves of the solid-liquid interface and the predicted values of thermal conductivity. Results indicated that the impact of simplified model was strongly dependent on Stefan number of the melting process. The degree of subcooling would lead to underestimated values for thermal conductivity prediction. The natural convection would intensify the heat transfer rate in the liquid region, thereby overestimating the obtained results of thermal conductivity. Correlations and experimental guidelines are provided. The relative errors are limited in ±1.5%,±3%and ±2% corresponding to the impact of simplified model, subcooling and natural convection, respectively.展开更多

Despite significant eradication efforts, malaria remains a serious threat, particularly in regions like Africa. This study explores how integrating Gregor’s Type IV theory with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) improves our understanding of disease dynamics, especially Malaria transmission patterns in Uganda. By combining data-driven algorithms, artificial intelligence, and geospatial analysis, the research aims to determine the most reliable predictors of Malaria incident rates and assess the impact of different factors on transmission. Using diverse predictive modeling techniques including Linear Regression, K-Nearest Neighbor, Neural Network, and Random Forest, the study found that;Random Forest model outperformed the others, demonstrating superior predictive accuracy with an R2 of approximately 0.88 and a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.0534, Antimalarial treatment was identified as the most influential factor, with mosquito net access associated with a significant reduction in incident rates, while higher temperatures correlated with increased rates. Our study concluded that the Random Forest model was effective in predicting malaria incident rates in Uganda and highlighted the significance of climate factors and preventive measures such as mosquito nets and antimalarial drugs. We recommended that districts with malaria hotspots lacking Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) coverage prioritize its implementation to mitigate incident rates, while those with high malaria rates in 2020 require immediate attention. By advocating for the use of appropriate predictive models, our research emphasized the importance of evidence-based decision-making in malaria control strategies, aiming to reduce transmission rates and save lives.展开更多

This article used the contingent valuation method to find the willingness to pay for the protective measures and investigated the factors that influence the willingness to pay. Methods A cross-sectional face-to-face household survey was completed by 637 urban long-term residents and 591 rural long-term residents aged 15-79 in Beijing, China. Binary logistic regression was used to identify factors that influenced the payment rate or payment amount for the protective measures, including independent variables for district, gender, age, education, income, air conditioner ownership, heat wave experience, and chronic non-communicable disease. Results The payment rate was 41.1% for protective measures provided by the government and 39.5% by measures provided by the market. Most of the respondents were willing to pay 40 CNY per capita annually for measures provided by the government or the market. The factors influencing willingness to pay were district, gender, income, air conditioner ownership, heat wave experience, and chronic non-communicable disease. Conclusion Protective measures for heat waves need to be provided immediately. More attention should be paid to the situation of vulnerable groups, such as people who live in urban areas, those without air conditioning, and those who have experienced a heat wave in the past.展开更多

文摘The recently proposed interface propagation-based method has shown its advantages in obtaining the thermal conductivity of phase change materials during solid-liquid transition over conventional techniques. The relative errors are limited in ±1.5%,±3%and ±2% corresponding to the impact of simplified model, subcooling and natural convection, respectively.

文摘Objective:To calculate the health poverty vulnerability index of elderly households in rural areas of central and western China, and then to classify these samples, lastly to decompose their influencing factors. Methods:First, based on survey data in 2018,the three-stage feasible generalized least squares was used to calculate the health poverty vulnerability index of elderly households, and then combined with whether the household income was below the poverty line and whether the family was healthy poverty vulnerability, the sample households were divided into four categories, and then used multiple unordered logistic regression to analyze various types of influencing factors, and finally used the Shapley index to decompose the contribution of each influencing factor. Results:The average vulnerability of health poverty was 0.5979±0.25199,with 1169 households greater than or equal to 0.5,accounting for 63.26%;the number of households stuck in poverty, temporary poverty, potential poverty, and escaped from poverty were 489,300,680,and 379 households, accounting for 26.46%,16.23%,36.80%,and 20.51%of the total sample;compared with escaped from poverty families, the three variables of marital status, the number of chronically ill patients, and the number of annual hospitalizations were the common influencing factors of other three types families; The Shapley decomposition showed that the interviewees’education level and family members engaged in non-agricultural work have contributed significantly to the three types, however two indicators:time required to visit a medical institution and self-assessment of health status of the main interviewees showed great differences in different types of families. Conclusion:Rural elderly households have a high level of vulnerability to health poverty;potential poverty households and persistent poverty households account for a large proportion, and continuous intervention should be carried out;it is necessary to unify the implementation of basic poverty alleviation work, but also to enhance refined management capabilities and adopt differentiated intervention measures.
文摘The resurgence of locally acquired malaria cases in the USA and the persistent global challenge of malaria transmission highlight the urgent need for research to prevent this disease. By advocating for the use of appropriate predictive models, our research emphasized the importance of evidence-based decision-making in malaria control strategies, aiming to reduce transmission rates and save lives.

文摘Embankment stability is the primary problem for the expressway construction in permafrost regions. The proposed Qinghai-Tibet Expressway(QTE)is planned to construct along the Qinghai-Tibet Project Corridor.Confronted with harsh environmental condition and intense heat exchange between earth and atmosphere,it is necessary to predict and evaluate the stability of the proposed QTE.In this study, the factors affecting the embankment stability are analyzed firstly. And then,a scheme for the stability evaluation of the embankment is established. Finally, the evaluation scheme is used for the pre-evaluation of the stability for the proposed QTE with different geothermal regulation measures(GRMs).The results indicate that the influencing factors include climatic environment, permafrost property, engineering condition and geological condition, and among them, engineering condition and permafrost property are the main influence factors for embankment stability. The stability of the proposed QTE varies greatly in the different geomorphological regions. The application effect and contribution to embankment stability of the existing GRMs are different, and using GRMs cannot completely overcome the influence of various factors on expressway stability. In the construction process, different GRMs should be adopted depending on the geomorphological environment where the embankment is located to ensure the embankment stability.

文摘Objective There are evidences that heat wave events cause deaths and emergency cases. More attention should be paid to the situation of vulnerable groups, such as people who live in urban areas, those without air conditioning, and those who have experienced a heat wave in the past.
文摘In the past 30 years, the accessibility and quality index of medical care have made remarkable progress in China, ranking the first among middle-income countries. Many cardiovascular technologies are at or near the world's leading level, and significant progress has been achieved in China solving the problem of“treatment difficulty”of cardiovascular diseases(CVD).However, due to the prevalence of unhealthy lifestyles among Chinese residents,a huge population with CVD risk factors, accelerated population aging, and other reasons, the incidence and mortality rate of CVD are still increasing, and the turning point of the decline in disease burden has not appeared yet in China. In terms of proportions of disease mortality among urban and rural residents,CVD still ranks the first. In 2020,CVD accounted for 48.00%and 45.86%of the causes of death in rural and urban areas, respectively;two out of every five deaths were due to CVD.It is estimated that the number of current CVD patients in China is around 330 million, including 13 million stroke,11.39 million coronary heart disease,8.9 million heart failure,5 million pulmonary heart disease,4.87 million atrial fibrillation,2.5 million rheumatic heart disease,2 million congenital heart disease,45.3 million peripheral artery disease, and 245 million hypertension cases.China has entered a new stage of transformation from high-speed development to high-quality development, and the prevention and control of CVD in China should also shift from previous emphasis on scale growth to strategies focusing more on strategic and key technological development in order to curb the trend of increasing incidence and mortality rates of CVD.
