The technology of pressure relief gas drainage is one of the most effective and economic for preventing gas emissions in underground mines.Based on current understanding of strata breakage and fracture development in ...The technology of pressure relief gas drainage is one of the most effective and economic for preventing gas emissions in underground mines.Based on current understanding of strata breakage and fracture development in overlying strata,the current study divides the overlying strata into the following three longitudinal zones in terms of the state of gas flow:a turbulent channel zone,a transitional circulation channel zone and a seepage channel zone.According to the key strata discrimination theory of controlling the overlying strata,the calculation method establishes that the step-type expansion of the mining gas channel corresponds to the advancing distance of working face,and this research also confrms the expanding rule that the mining gas channel in overlying strata follows the advancing distance of mining working face.Based on the geological conditions of Xinjing Coal Mine of Yangquan,this paper researches the expanding rule of mining gas channel as well as the control action of the channel acting on the pressure relief flow under the condition of the remote protective layer,and got the distance using inversion that the step-type expanding of mining gas channel is corresponding to the advancing distance of working face,which verifes the accuracy and feasibility of theoretical calculation method proposed in this study.The research provides the theoretical basis for choosing the technology of pressure relief gas drainage and designing the parameters of construction.展开更多

Although the original intent was to manage the vegetation as total cover that included green a...A monitoring program was developed to assess the cover of saltgrass managed for dust control on the saline dry Owens Lake. Although the original intent was to manage the vegetation as total cover that included green and senesced leaf and stem material, aged leaves that make up a large proportion of total cover were not differentiable spectrally from the background salt and lakebed. Hence, greenness-based indices were explored for detection of plant recruitment. Since all plant cover begins as green and growing, greenness indices provide a measure of all future cover whether living or senesced. The criteria for judging compliance were changed so that spatially variable vegetation cover measured as a milestone will need to be met in the future. A derivative of NDVI, NDVIx, calculated using scene statistics, proved highly accurate, to about 0.001 of this index and with an average signal to noise ratio of 64. This high level of accuracy allowed detection of small changes in vegetation growth and vigor. Performance according to the benchmark-as-par standard was determined through combined use of cumulative distribution functions and derivative maps.展开更多

This dust control is mandated by law as a minimum percent of the area of each individual...Extensive dust control on the dry Owens Lake mainly uses constructed basins that are flooded with shallow depths of fresh water. This dust control is mandated by law as a minimum percent of the area of each individual wetting basin. Wetted surfaces are evaluated for area and degree of wetness using the shortwave infrared (SWIR) band of Landsat TM, or similar earth observation satellite sensor. The SWIR region appropriate for these measurements lies within the electromagnetic spectrum between about 1.5 and 1.8 μm wavelengths. A threshold value for Landsat TM5 band 5 reflectance of 0.19 was found to conform with surfaces having a threshold for adequate wetting at a nascent point where rapid drying would occur following loss of capillary connection with groundwater. This threshold is robust and requires no atmospheric correction for the effects of aerosol scatter and attenuation as long as the features on the image appear clear. Monthly monitoring of surface wetting has proven accurate, verifiable and repeatable using these methods. This threshold can be calibrated for any Earth observation satellite that records the appropriate SWIR region. The monitoring program is expected to provide major input for the final phase of the dust control program that will have a focus to conserve water and resources.展开更多

This article describes the design and creation of a remote monitoring and control system based on GSM(Global System for Mobile)communications technology for monitoring the key parameters of a biodigester.Biodigesters ...This article describes the design and creation of a remote monitoring and control system based on GSM(Global System for Mobile)communications technology for monitoring the key parameters of a biodigester.Biodigesters are widely used for the conversion of organic materials into biogas,thereby contributing to renewable energy production and organic waste management.However,real-time monitoring and regulation of parameters such as temperature,humidity,product gas level,pH are essential to ensure the efficiency and safety of the digestion process.We created the device for remote control of the operating parameters of the biodigester using an Arduino card,a DHT11 sensor,a pH sensor,a GSM module and a 2×16 LCD(Liquide-Crystal-Display)display.A biodigester(4.5 L plastic container)and accessories were used.The experimental device created made it possible to remotely monitor the evolution of the temperature,humidity,the gas produced as well as the pH in the digester loaded with cow dung,for 45 days.Examination of the real-time evolution of the parameters measured by the device produced showed the same results as those carried out locally by the usual instruments,with a correlation coefficient of around 98%.During this digestion period,the temperature provided by the sensor varied from 25°C to 37°C(mesophilic mode)and the humidity levels varied from 70%to 95%.The results obtained show the reliability of the device produced.This research represents a significant advance in the management of biodigestion facilities.It offers a powerful tool to maximize biogas production,reduce maintenance costs,minimize environmental impact and contribute to the transition to cleaner,renewable energy.展开更多

In this study, we showed that the use of frequencies of the catalase enzyme itself to increase enzymatic rate is successful not only in test tubes but also remotely. The present study also suggests that, under optimal temperature, the use of bovine catalase frequency (the specific frequency of that enzyme) has a superior rate promoting vibration than the human catalase frequency, and so increases very significantly the chemical rate of bovine catalase (about 120% at 40˚C). It also suggests that bovine catalase subjected to bovine and human frequencies with catalase bound NADP+ experienced more resonance weight towards NADP+ and so were more slowly reduced back to catalase bound NADPH, increasing compound II formation rate, and slowing down the catalase activity rate.展开更多

Therefore this paper introduces the new adaptive balancing equipment—fan-shaped adaptive balancing intelligent device, projects a design of such control system based on PLC, and determines the principle of the control system, the execution software and the design flow. Site commissioning effect on Daqing Oilfield shows this fan-shaped adaptive balancing intelligent device can effectively adjust and monitor the pumping unit in real time, the balance even adjusts from 0.787 to 0.901, and integrated energy saving rate is 14.2%. The economical cost of energy is therefore very high not only due to inherent cost of fuel, but also due to transportation and due to maintenance costs. One solution for saving fuel in a diesel generator is to allow the engine to operate directly in relation to the request for electrical load at variable speeds. Genset-Synchro Technology has developed an innovative variable speed?generator technology (patent pending) that allows applications where power demand varies widely to benefit from the new technology that maintains constant voltage and frequency while adjusting the generator stator speed to power demand. This paper will present an innovative approach for optimizing the energy production based from the fact that the structure that contains the stator windings of the generator is mounted on roller bearings, which allows its free rotation around the axis of the rotor, consequently stopping the stator structure from being static and aims to minimize the unit cost of electricity. Case study on application in remote area in the north of Quebec is described. A saving of 7%?-?9% on fuel consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) under low winter ambient temperatures has been registered.展开更多
The Bohai Sea(BS)is the unique semi-closed inland sea of China,characterized by degraded water quality due to significant terrestrial pollution input.In order to improve its water quality,a dedicated action named“Uph...The Bohai Sea(BS)is the unique semi-closed inland sea of China,characterized by degraded water quality due to significant terrestrial pollution input.In order to improve its water quality,a dedicated action named“Uphill Battles for Integrated Bohai Sea Management”(UBIBSM,2018–2020)was implemented by the Chinese government.To evaluate the action effectiveness toward water quality improvement,variability of the satelliteobserved water transparency(Secchi disk depth,Z_(SD))was explored,with special emphasis on the nearshore waters(within 20 km from the coastline)prone to terrestrial influence.(1)Compared to the status before the action began(2011–2017),majority(87.3%)of the nearshore waters turned clear during the action implementation period(2018–2020),characterized by the elevated Z_(SD)by 11.6%±12.1%.(2)Nevertheless,the improvement was not spatially uniform,with higher Z_(SD)improvement in provinces of Hebei,Liaoning,and Shandong(13.2%±16.5%,13.2%±11.6%,10.8%±10.2%,respectively)followed by Tianjin(6.2%±4.7%).(3)Bayesian trend analysis found the abrupt Z_(SD)improvement in April 2018,which coincided with the initiation of UBIBSM,implying the water quality response to pollution control.More importantly,the independent statistics of land-based pollutant discharge also indicated that the significant reduction of terrestrial pollutant input during the UBIBSM action was the main driver of observed Z_(SD)improvement.(4)Compared with previous pollution control actions in the BS,UBIBSM was found to be the most successful one during the past 20 years,in terms of transparency improvement over nearshore waters.The presented results proved the UBIBSM-achieved remarkable water quality improvement,taking the advantage of long-term consistent and objective data record from satellite ocean color observation.展开更多

The system has been designed and organized in such a way to perform autonomously local activities to physically control the protection of the vineyard but also to transmit information toward a remote control. Each row has an "umbrella" designed by the authors which, unlike other commercial solutions, protects the product without hindering all the mechanical activities typical of a modem vineyard. Locally the single umbrella uses an electronic card for the management and a ZigBee mesh telecommunication network to transmit data to a central control unit which manages the protection. Because of its efficiency, a Raspberry-Pi control card has been chosen as central unit. Finally, a WiMAX connection was chosen to remotely control the system, thus allowing the authors to overcome distance limitations of commercial Wi-Fi networks. The system has been realized and tested for some months in field also during a hailstorm. The results of these tests proved how the system is easy to use and effectively protects against hail; moreover the authors proved the high reliability of the mechanical components which allow the authors to lower the maintenance costs.展开更多

In this sense, it was necessary, on the part of the students and the teachers, a preparation to go from the face-to-face to the virtual mode. 文摘Untethered micro/nanorobots that can wirelessly control their motion and deformation state have gained enormous interest in remote sensing applications due to their unique motion characteristics in various media and diverse functionalities.Researchers are developing micro/nanorobots as innovative tools to improve sensing performance and miniaturize sensing systems,enabling in situ detection of substances that traditional sensing methods struggle to achieve.Over the past decade of development,significant research progress has been made in designing sensing strategies based on micro/nanorobots,employing various coordinated control and sensing approaches.This review summarizes the latest developments on micro/nanorobots for remote sensing applications by utilizing the self-generated signals of the robots,robot behavior,microrobotic manipulation,and robot-environment interactions.Providing recent studies and relevant applications in remote sensing,we also discuss the challenges and future perspectives facing micro/nanorobots-based intelligent sensing platforms to achieve sensing in complex environments,translating lab research achievements into widespread real applications.
文摘Remote control enzyme technology is widely used today through resonance. In this study, we showed that the use of frequencies of the catalase enzyme itself to increase enzymatic rate is successful not only in test tubes but also remotely. The present study also suggests that, under optimal temperature, the use of bovine catalase frequency (the specific frequency of that enzyme) has a superior rate promoting vibration than the human catalase frequency, and so increases very significantly the chemical rate of bovine catalase (about 120% at 40˚C). It also suggests that bovine catalase subjected to bovine and human frequencies with catalase bound NADP+ experienced more resonance weight towards NADP+ and so were more slowly reduced back to catalase bound NADPH, increasing compound II formation rate, and slowing down the catalase activity rate.
文摘Due to the well condition and the un-expected imbalance movement of the pumping unit in use, the energy consumes a lot. The existing balancing equipment cannot adjust and monitor the pumping units in real time. Therefore this paper introduces the new adaptive balancing equipment—fan-shaped adaptive balancing intelligent device, projects a design of such control system based on PLC, and determines the principle of the control system, the execution software and the design flow. Site commissioning effect on Daqing Oilfield shows this fan-shaped adaptive balancing intelligent device can effectively adjust and monitor the pumping unit in real time, the balance even adjusts from 0.787 to 0.901, and integrated energy saving rate is 14.2%. It is approved that this control device is professionally designed, with strong compatibility, and high reliability.
文摘For most of their energy requirements, greater part of remote communities and small islands around the world rely on imported fossil fuels. The economical cost of energy is therefore very high not only due to inherent cost of fuel, but also due to transportation and due to maintenance costs. One solution for saving fuel in a diesel generator is to allow the engine to operate directly in relation to the request for electrical load at variable speeds. Genset-Synchro Technology has developed an innovative variable speed?generator technology (patent pending) that allows applications where power demand varies widely to benefit from the new technology that maintains constant voltage and frequency while adjusting the generator stator speed to power demand. This paper will present an innovative approach for optimizing the energy production based from the fact that the structure that contains the stator windings of the generator is mounted on roller bearings, which allows its free rotation around the axis of the rotor, consequently stopping the stator structure from being static and aims to minimize the unit cost of electricity. Case study on application in remote area in the north of Quebec is described. A saving of 7%?-?9% on fuel consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) under low winter ambient temperatures has been registered.

文摘The Bohai Sea(BS)is the unique semi-closed inland sea of China,characterized by degraded water quality due to significant terrestrial pollution input.In order to improve its water quality,a dedicated action named“Uphill Battles for Integrated Bohai Sea Management”(UBIBSM,2018–2020)was implemented by the Chinese government.To evaluate the action effectiveness toward water quality improvement,variability of the satelliteobserved water transparency(Secchi disk depth,Z_(SD))was explored,with special emphasis on the nearshore waters(within 20 km from the coastline)prone to terrestrial influence.(1)Compared to the status before the action began(2011–2017),majority(87.3%)of the nearshore waters turned clear during the action implementation period(2018–2020),characterized by the elevated Z_(SD)by 11.6%±12.1%.(2)Nevertheless,the improvement was not spatially uniform,with higher Z_(SD)improvement in provinces of Hebei,Liaoning,and Shandong(13.2%±16.5%,13.2%±11.6%,10.8%±10.2%,respectively)followed by Tianjin(6.2%±4.7%).(3)Bayesian trend analysis found the abrupt Z_(SD)improvement in April 2018,which coincided with the initiation of UBIBSM,implying the water quality response to pollution control.More importantly,the independent statistics of land-based pollutant discharge also indicated that the significant reduction of terrestrial pollutant input during the UBIBSM action was the main driver of observed Z_(SD)improvement.(4)Compared with previous pollution control actions in the BS,UBIBSM was found to be the most successful one during the past 20 years,in terms of transparency improvement over nearshore waters.The presented results proved the UBIBSM-achieved remarkable water quality improvement,taking the advantage of long-term consistent and objective data record from satellite ocean color observation.
文摘A new inexpensive vineyard protection against hailstorm has been realized and tested. The system has been designed and organized in such a way to perform autonomously local activities to physically control the protection of the vineyard but also to transmit information toward a remote control. Each row has an "umbrella" designed by the authors which, unlike other commercial solutions, protects the product without hindering all the mechanical activities typical of a modem vineyard. Locally the single umbrella uses an electronic card for the management and a ZigBee mesh telecommunication network to transmit data to a central control unit which manages the protection. Because of its efficiency, a Raspberry-Pi control card has been chosen as central unit. Finally, a WiMAX connection was chosen to remotely control the system, thus allowing the authors to overcome distance limitations of commercial Wi-Fi networks. The system has been realized and tested for some months in field also during a hailstorm. The results of these tests proved how the system is easy to use and effectively protects against hail; moreover the authors proved the high reliability of the mechanical components which allow the authors to lower the maintenance costs.
文摘Due to the pandemic that is currently being experienced worldwide, educational institutions (HEIs) have had to reinvent and innovate the mode of teaching, in order to continue the process of training students at all educational levels. Higher education has not been immune to this situation, the institutions of this educational level face various challenges in remote teaching: one of them, perhaps the most important, was to answer the question: How to get the student to continue their undergraduate studies remotely? In this sense, it was necessary, on the part of the students and the teachers, a preparation to go from the face-to-face to the virtual mode. This paper addresses the specific case of the analysis of the teaching-learning process of the Teaching-Learning Unit (UEA for its acronym in Spanish) of Structured Programming and Numerical Methods for Engineering at the undergraduate level, at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Unidad Azcapotzalco (UAM-A) and its relation to the student’s way of thinking. Likewise, the analysis will be carried out if the way of thinking of the students of the sample influences their academic performance when studying the subject of Structured Programming and Numerical Methods for Engineering.

According to the new design, draught burners with automatic control system shall be used to eliminate problems encountered during application of original burner. In addition to implement automatic control of combustion processes, the new system may minimize labor intensity and enhance safety of facilities.
文摘Traditional air conditioner used to be in local control mode. However, with the development of modern information technology, the control of air conditioner will have to support many more functions. As a first step in such a development, we have implemented a remote monitoring system of unitary air conditioners, using the manufacturing message specification (MMS). MMS is an OSI application protocol designed for the remote control and monitoring of real devices. The functions supported are those that an operator would do normally at the console of the unitary air conditioner. Due to the accomplishment of UMCS (Unitary air conditioner MMS Control System), there will be a leap of the application of MMS and the control technology of unitary air conditioner.
文摘This paper presents the results of an on-going project and investigates modelling and remote control issues of an industry excavator. The details of modelling, communication, and control of a remotely controllable excavator are studied. The paper mainly focuses on trajectory tracking control of the excavator base and robust control of the excavator arm. These will provide the fundamental base for our next research step. In addition, extensive simulation results for trajectory tracking of the excavator base and robust control of the excavator arm are given. Finally, conclusions and further work have been identified.

文摘Two schemes are proposed to realize the controlled remote preparation of an arbitrary four-qubit cluster-type state via a partially entangled channel. We construct ingenious measurement bases at the sender’s and the controller’s locations, which play a decisive role in the proposed schemes. The success probabilities can reach 50% and 100%, respectively. Compared with the previous proposals, the success probabilities are independent of the coefficients of the entangled channel.
文摘Quantum secure communications could securely transmit quantum information by using quantum resource.Recently,novel applications such as bidirectional and asymmetric quantum protocols have been developed.In this paper,we propose a new method for generating entanglement which is highly useful for multiparty quantum communications such as teleportation and Remote State Preparation(RSP).As one of its applications,we propose a new type of quantum secure communications,i.e.cyclic RSP protocols.Starting from a four-party controlled cyclic RSP protocol of one-qubit states,we show that this cyclic protocol can be generalized to a multiparty controlled cyclic RSP protocol for preparation of arbitrary qubit states.We point out that previous bidirectional and asymmetric protocols can be regarded as a simpler form of our cyclic RSP protocols.
