Rock fracture warning is one of the significant challenges in rock mechanics.Many true triaxial and synchronous acoustic emission(AE)tests were conducted on granite samples.The investigation focused on the characteris...Rock fracture warning is one of the significant challenges in rock mechanics.Many true triaxial and synchronous acoustic emission(AE)tests were conducted on granite samples.The investigation focused on the characteristics of AE signals preceding granite fracture,based on the critical slowing down(CSD)theory.The granite undergoes a transition from the stable phase to the fracture phase and exhibits a clear CSD phenomenon,characterized by a pronounced increase in variance and autocorrelation coefficient.The variance mutation points were found to be more identifiable and suitable as the primary criterion for predicting precursor information related to granite fracture,compared to the autocorrelation coefficient.It is noteworthy to emphasize that the CSD factor holds greater potential in elucidating the underlying mechanisms responsible for the critical transition of granite fracture,in comparison to the AE timing parameters.Furthermore,a novel multi-parameter collaborative prediction method for rock fracture was developed by comprehensively analyzing predictive information,including abnormal variation modes and the CSD factor of AE characteristic parameters.This method enhances the understanding and prediction of rock fracture-related geohazards.展开更多

The main characteristics of the model are that both particle and energy avalanches of sand grains are considered simultaneously. Properties of intermittent transport and improved confinement are analyzed in detail. The results imply that the intermittent phenomenon such as blobs in the low confinement mode as well as edge localized modes in the high confinement mode observed in tokamak experiments are not only determined by the edge plasma physics, but also affected by the core plasma dynamics.展开更多

In this semi-a...In In the Castle of My Skin (hereafter Castle) (1983), the littoral as trope provides a means for discovering Lamming's authorial license, one that speaks to postcolonial and phenomenological aims. In this semi-autobiographical novel, Lamming examines self-awareness and the process through which language and self-analysis may take shape on or be inspired by the shore's edge. Through the telling of personal stories, discussions of a colonial history, and with allusions to the social privations affecting the immediate community, Lamming represents the changing realities, the main characters ("G" and his friends) experience as they become socially aware; he highlights this transformative rise to consciousness through the use of littoral imagery in Chapters Six, Eleven, and Fourteen. In this essay, the author explores these representations using postcolonial, psychoanalytical, and phenomenological approaches, giving particular attention to Chapter Six, the longer chapter where Lamming creates a blueprint of the issues to which he will return in Chapters Eleven and Fourteen. In engineering applications,the notch effect and size effect significantly influence the evaluation of fatigue performance in components,necessitating special attention in life prediction.This study proposes a new pro...In engineering applications,the notch effect and size effect significantly influence the evaluation of fatigue performance in components,necessitating special attention in life prediction.This study proposes a new probabilistic model,based on the theory of critical distance(TCD),to predict fatigue life,with the aim of quantitatively assessing the impact of notch effect and size effect.The stress distribution on the critical plane is first characterized using a sixth-order multinomial function,and the relative stress gradient function is utilized to calculate the value of the critical distance.Furthermore,the effect of the ratio of shear strain to normal strain on fatigue life under multiaxial loading is considered.Additionally,the integration of the Weibull distribution into the TCD is employed for conducting probabilistic modeling of fatigue life.Finally,fatigue experiments are conducted on notched specimens of Q355D steel,demonstrating that the life prediction results under 50%survival probability are superior to the traditional TCD method.展开更多
Purpose:This study analyzes digital equity realities in U.S.K-12 schools and the role that school leadership plays in digital equity.Design/Approach/Methods:Based on Selwyn's conception of technology as three inte...Purpose:This study analyzes digital equity realities in U.S.K-12 schools and the role that school leadership plays in digital equity.Design/Approach/Methods:Based on Selwyn's conception of technology as three interlocking elements(access,educational practices,and social context),we applied the ideals of equity and social justice to each of the three elements to conceptualize a framework of digital equity,situating school practice in the larger social,cultural,and political context of the United States.Guided by this framework,we conducted a systematic literature review of the current state of digital equity and school leadership in K-12 schools.Findings:The findings demonstrate that U.S.K-12 schools face digital inequity issues,including inequitable access to technology,exclusionary and punitive educational practices using technology,and an unjust social context for technology in schools.These findings indicate that school leadership plays an important role in digital inequity.OriginalityValue:Based on these findings,we present a framework to assist K-12 leaders in enhancing digital equity,including addressing educational inequities and creating an inclusive social context for the school,ensuring equitable accessibility to technology in schools,and supporting teachers in developing meaningful and equitable practices using technology to address the opportunity gaps encountered by marginalized learners.展开更多

Particle breakage has a significant influence on the stress-strain and strength behavior of rockfill material.A breakage critical state theory(BCST)was proposed to describe the evolution of particle breakage.The break...Particle breakage has a significant influence on the stress-strain and strength behavior of rockfill material.A breakage critical state theory(BCST)was proposed to describe the evolution of particle breakage.The breakage critical state line in the breakage critical state theory was correlated with the breakage factor,which was fundamentally different from that of the original critical state theory.A simple elastoplastic constitutive model was developed for rockfill in the frame of BCST.An associated flow rule was adopted in this model.Isotropic,contractive and distortional hardening rules were suggested in view of the particle breakage.It was observed that the proposed model could well represent the complex deformation behaviors of rockfill material,such as the strain hardening,post-peak strain softening,volumetric contraction,volumetric expansion,and particle breakage under different initial confining pressures.展开更多

文摘In engineering applications,the notch effect and size effect significantly influence the evaluation of fatigue performance in components,necessitating special attention in life prediction.This study proposes a new probabilistic model,based on the theory of critical distance(TCD),to predict fatigue life,with the aim of quantitatively assessing the impact of notch effect and size effect.The stress distribution on the critical plane is first characterized using a sixth-order multinomial function,and the relative stress gradient function is utilized to calculate the value of the critical distance.Furthermore,the effect of the ratio of shear strain to normal strain on fatigue life under multiaxial loading is considered.Additionally,the integration of the Weibull distribution into the TCD is employed for conducting probabilistic modeling of fatigue life.Finally,fatigue experiments are conducted on notched specimens of Q355D steel,demonstrating that the life prediction results under 50%survival probability are superior to the traditional TCD method.
文摘Purpose:This study analyzes digital equity realities in U.S.K-12 schools and the role that school leadership plays in digital equity.Design/Approach/Methods:Based on Selwyn's conception of technology as three interlocking elements(access,educational practices,and social context),we applied the ideals of equity and social justice to each of the three elements to conceptualize a framework of digital equity,situating school practice in the larger social,cultural,and political context of the United States.Guided by this framework,we conducted a systematic literature review of the current state of digital equity and school leadership in K-12 schools.Findings:The findings demonstrate that U.S.K-12 schools face digital inequity issues,including inequitable access to technology,exclusionary and punitive educational practices using technology,and an unjust social context for technology in schools.These findings indicate that school leadership plays an important role in digital inequity.OriginalityValue:Based on these findings,we present a framework to assist K-12 leaders in enhancing digital equity,including addressing educational inequities and creating an inclusive social context for the school,ensuring equitable accessibility to technology in schools,and supporting teachers in developing meaningful and equitable practices using technology to address the opportunity gaps encountered by marginalized learners.

文摘Existing critical point theories including metric and topological critical point theories are difficult to be applied directly to some concrete problems in particular polyhedral settings,because the notions of critical sets could be either very vague or too large.To overcome these difficulties,we develop the critical point theory for nonsmooth but Lipschitzian functions defined on convex polyhedrons.This yields natural extensions of classical results in the critical point theory,such as the Liusternik-Schnirelmann multiplicity theorem.More importantly,eigenvectors for some eigenvalue problems involving graph 1-Laplacian coincide with critical points of the corresponding functions on polytopes,which indicates that the critical point theory proposed in the present paper can be applied to study the nonlinear spectral graph theory.

文摘Particle breakage has a significant influence on the stress-strain and strength behavior of rockfill material.A breakage critical state theory(BCST)was proposed to describe the evolution of particle breakage.The breakage critical state line in the breakage critical state theory was correlated with the breakage factor,which was fundamentally different from that of the original critical state theory.A simple elastoplastic constitutive model was developed for rockfill in the frame of BCST.An associated flow rule was adopted in this model.Isotropic,contractive and distortional hardening rules were suggested in view of the particle breakage.It was observed that the proposed model could well represent the complex deformation behaviors of rockfill material,such as the strain hardening,post-peak strain softening,volumetric contraction,volumetric expansion,and particle breakage under different initial confining pressures.
文摘This paper studies the existence of nontrival homoclinic orbits of the Hamiltonian systems -L(t)q+V′(t,q)=0 by using the critical point theory, where the potential V(t,q)=b(t)W(q) can change sign. Under a new kind of "superquadratic" condition on W, some new results are obtained.
