Virtual reality involves substituting the real world with a computer-generated 3D environment, while AR overlays digitally created perceptions onto the existing reality. The advances in 3D modeling technology have sparked considerable interest in their application to partial nephrectomy in the realm of renal cancer. 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, constructs 3D objects based on computer-aided design or digital 3D models. Utilizing 3D-printed preoperative renal models provides benefits for surgical planning, offering a more reliable assessment of the tumor's relationship with vital anatomical structures and enabling better preparation for procedures. The 3D characteristics of these reservoirs are too complicated to be accurately delineated by general structural-facies-reservoir modelling. In view of the special geological features, such as the vertical architecture of sandstone and mudstone interbeds, the lateral stable sedimentation and the strong heterogeneity of reservoir poroperm and fluid distribution, we developed a new three-stage and six-phase procedure for 3D characterization of multi-layer sandstone reservoirs. The procedure comprises two-phase structural modelling, two-phase facies modelling and modelling of two types of reservoir properties. Using this procedure, we established models of the formation structure, sand body structure and microfacies, reservoir facies and properties including porosity, permeability and gas saturation and provided a 3D fine-scale, systematic characterization of the Sebei multi-layer sandstone gas field, China. This new procedure, validated by the Sebei gas field, can be applied to characterize similar multi-layer sandstone reservoirs.展开更多

Key inputs into the generation of a good geological model are the sample data and mapping information. The Obuasi Mine sample data with a lot of legacy issues were subjected to a robust validation process and integrated with mapping information to generate an accurate geological orebody model for mineral resource estimation in Block 8 Lower. Validation of the sample data focused on replacing missing collar coordinates, missing assays, and correcting magnetic declination that was used to convert the downhole surveys from true to magnetic, fix missing lithology and finally assign confidence numbers to all the sample data. The missing coordinates which were replaced ensured that the sample data plotted at their correct location in space as intended from the planning stage. Magnetic declination data, which was maintained constant throughout all the years even though it changes every year, was also corrected in the validation project. The corrected magnetic declination ensured that the drillholes were plotted on their accurate trajectory as per the planned azimuth and also reflected the true position of the intercepted mineralized fissure(s) which was previously not the case and marked a major blot in the modelling of the Obuasi orebody. The incorporation of mapped data with the validated sample data in the wireframes resulted in a better interpretation of the orebody. The updated mineral resource generated by domaining quartz from the sulphides and compared with the old resource showed that the sulphide tonnes in the old resource estimates were overestimated by 1% and the grade overestimated by 8.5%.展开更多

The 3D property model can also be used to infer or deduce causes of geological objects. 3DGM technology provides technical support for extraction of diverse geoscience information, 3D modeling, and quantitative calculation of mineral resources. Based on metallogenic concepts and an ore deposit model, 3DGM technology is applied to analyze geological characteristics of the Tongshan Cu deposit in order to define a metallogenic model and develop a virtual borehole technology; a BP neural network and a 3D interpolation technique were combined to integrate multiple geoscience information in a 3D environment. The results indicate: (1) on basis of the concept of magmatic-hydrothermal Cu polymetallic mineraliza- tion and a porphyry Cu deposit model, a spatial relational database of multiple geoscience information for mineralization in the study area (geology, geophysics, geochemistry, borehole, and cross-section data) was established, and 3D metallogenic geological objects including mineralization stratum, granodiorite, alteration rock, and magnetic anomaly were constructed; (2) on basis of the 3D ore deposit model, 23,800 effective surveys from 94 boreholes and 21 sections were applied to establish 3D orebody models with a kriging interpolation method; (3) combined 23,800 surveys involving 21 sections, using VC++ and OpenGL platform, virtual borehole and virtual section with BP network, and an improved inverse distance interpolation (IDW) method were used to predict and delineate mineralization potential targets (Cu-grade of cell not less than 0.1%); (4) comparison of 3D ore bodies, metallogenic geological objects of mineralization, and potential targets of mineralization models in the study area, delineated the 3D spatial and temporal relationship and causal processes among the ore bodies, alteration rock, metallo- genic stratum, intrusive rock, and the Tongshan Fault. This study provides important technical support and a scientific basis for assessment of the Tongshan Cu deposit and surrounding exploration and mineral resources.展开更多

文摘ObjectiveTo highlight the role of hyper accuracy three-dimensional(3D)reconstruction in facilitating surgical planning and guiding selective clamping during robot-assisted partial nephrectomy(RAPN).MethodsA transperitoneal RAPN was performed in a 62-year-old male patient presenting with a 4 cm right anterior interpolar renal mass(R.E.N.A.L nephrometry score 7A).An abnormal vasculature was observed, with a single renal vein and two right renal arteries originating superiorly to the vein and anterior, when dividing in their segmental branches.According to the hyper accuracy 3D(HA3D^(®))rainbow model(MEDICS Srl,Turin,Italy),one branch belonging to one of the segmental arteries was feeding the tumor. This allowed for an accurate prediction of the area vascularized by each arterial branch. The 3D model was included in the intraoperative console view during the whole procedure, using the TilePro feature.A step-by-step explanation of the procedure is provided in the video attached to the present article.ResultsThe operative time was 90 min with a warm ischemia time on selective clamping of 13 min.Estimated blood loss was 180 mL.No intraoperative complication was encountered and no drain was placed at the end of the procedure. The patient was discharged on postoperative Day 2,without any early postoperative complications. The final pathology report showed a pathological tumor stage 1 clear cell renal cell carcinoma with negative surgical margins.ConclusionThe present study and the attached video illustrate the value of 3D rainbow model during the planning and execution of a RAPN with selective clamping. It shows how the surgeon can rely on this model to be more efficient by avoiding unnecessary surgical steps, and to safely adopt a“selective”clamping strategy that can translate in minimal functional impact.

文摘Multi-layer sandstone reservoirs occur globally and are currently in international production. This new procedure, validated by the Sebei gas field, can be applied to characterize similar multi-layer sandstone reservoirs.

文摘On the study of the basic characteristics of geological objects and the special requirement for computing 3D geological model, this paper gives an object-oriented 3D topologic data model. In this model, the geological objects are divided into four object classes: point, line, area and volume. The volume class is further divided into four subclasses: the composite volume, the complex volume, the simple volume and the component. Twelve kinds of topological relations and the related data structures are designed for the geological objects.

文摘This research studies the process of 3D reconstruction and dynamic concision based on 2D medical digital images using virtual reality modelling language (VRML) and JavaScript language, with a focus on how to realize the dynamic concision of 3D medical model with script node and sensor node in VRML. The 3D reconstruction and concision of body internal organs can be built with such high quality that they are better than those obtained from the traditional methods. With the function of dynamic concision, the VRML browser can offer better windows for man-computer interaction in real-time environment than ever before. 3D reconstruction and dynamic concision with VRML can be used to meet the requirement for the medical observation of 3D reconstruction and have a promising prospect in the fields of medical imaging.
文摘BACKGROUND Three-dimensional(3D)modelling technology translates the patient-specific anatomical information derived from two-dimensional radiological images into virtual or physical 3D models, which more closely resemble the complex environment encountered during surgery. It has been successfully applied to surgical planning and navigation,as well as surgical training and patient education in several surgical specialties, but its uptake lags behind in colorectal surgery.Rectal cancer surgery poses specific challenges due to the complex anatomy of the pelvis, which is difficult to comprehend and visualise.AIM To review the current and emerging applications of the 3D models, both virtual and physical,in rectal cancer surgery。METHODS Medline/PubMed,Embase and Scopus databases were searched using the keywords“rectal surgery”,“colorectal surgery”,“three-dimensional”,“3D”,“modelling”,“3D printing”,“surgical planning”,“surgical navigation”,“surgical education”,“patient education”to identify the eligible full-text studies published in English between 2001 and 2020.Reference list from each article was manually reviewed to identify additional relevant papers. The conference abstracts, animal and cadaveric studies and studies describing 3D pelvimetry or radiotherapy planning were excluded.Data were extracted from the retrieved manuscripts and summarised in a descriptive way.The manuscript was prepared and revised in accordance with PRISMA 2009 checklist.RESULTS Sixteen studies, including 9 feasibility studies, were included in the systematic review. The studies were classified into four categories:feasibility of the use of 3D modelling technology in rectal cancer surgery, preoperative planning and intraoperative navigation, surgical education and surgical device design.Thirteen studies used virtual models, one 3D printed model and 2 both types of models. The construction of virtual and physical models depicting the normal pelvic anatomy and rectal cancer, was shown to be feasible.Within the clinical context,3D models were used to identify vascular anomalies, for surgical planning and navigation in lateral pelvic wall lymph node dissection and in management of recurrent rectal cancer. Both physical and virtual 3D models were found to be valuable in surgical education, with a preference for 3D printed models. The main limitations of the current technology identified in the studies were related to the restrictions of the segmentation process and the lack of 3D printing materials that could mimic the soft and deformable tissues.CONCLUSION 3D modelling technology has potential to be utilised in multiple aspects of rectal cancer surgery, however,it is still at the experimental stage of application in this setting.

文摘The divergence three-dimensional millet-seed body model and the continuous distributing layer-imitating model were introduced, which were used to express geologic body, and the procedure of generating these two models and their merits and demerits were synthesized. Three methods of geologic body’s three-dimensional expression were separately introduced, and the merits of the continuous distributing layer imitating model were proposed as comparing with the divergence three-dimensional millet-seed body model. The three-dimensional cubes were observed from any direction and any tangle with the application of dealing methods such as peeling, hollowing out, transparent or half-transparent.
文摘The basis of accurate mineral resource estimates is to have a geological model which replicates the nature and style of the orebody. The updated mineral resource generated by domaining quartz from the sulphides and compared with the old resource showed that the sulphide tonnes in the old resource estimates were overestimated by 1% and the grade overestimated by 8.5%.

文摘Three-dimensional geological modeling (3DGM) assists geologists to quantitatively study in three-dimensional (3D) space structures that define temporal and spatial relationships between geological objects. This study provides important technical support and a scientific basis for assessment of the Tongshan Cu deposit and surrounding exploration and mineral resources.

文摘To dynamically update the shape of orebody according to the knowledge of a structural geologist’s insight,an approach of orebody implicit modeling from raw drillhole data using the generalized radial basis function interpolant was presented.A variety of constraint rules, including geology trend line, geology constraint line, geology trend surface, geology constraint surface and anisotropy, which can be converted into interpolation constraints, were developed to dynamically control the geology trends.Combined with the interactive tools of constraint rules, this method can avoid the shortcomings of the explicit modeling method based on the contour stitching, such as poor model quality, and is difficult to update dynamically, and simplify the modeling process of orebody. The results of numerical experiments show that the 3D ore body model can be reconstructed quickly, accurately and dynamically by the implicit modeling method.
文摘This paper presents a hybrid model for three-dimensional Geographical Information Systems which is an integration of surface- and volume-based models. The Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) and octree models are integrated in this hybrid models. The TIN model works as a surface-based model which mainly serves for surface presentation and visualization. On the other hand, the octree encoding supports volumetric analysis. The designed data structure brings a major advantage in the three-dimensional selective retrieval. This technique increases the efficiency of three-dimensional data operation.
