In predictive direct power control(PDPC)system of three-phase pulse width modulation(PWM)rectifier,grid voltage sensor makes the whole system more complex and costly.Therefore,third-order generalized integrator(TOGI)i...In predictive direct power control(PDPC)system of three-phase pulse width modulation(PWM)rectifier,grid voltage sensor makes the whole system more complex and costly.Therefore,third-order generalized integrator(TOGI)is used to generate orthogonal signals with the same frequency to estimate the grid voltage.In addition,in view of the deviation between actual and reference power in the three-phase PWM rectifier traditional PDPC strategy,a power correction link is designed to correct the power reference value.The grid voltage sensor free algorithm based on TOGI and the corrected PDPC strategy are applied to three-phase PWM rectifier and simulated on the simulation platform.Simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively eliminate the power tracking deviation and the grid voltage.The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by comparing the simulation results.展开更多

The electric vehicle charging stations communicate with the grid. In V2G (vehicle to grid) mode, electric vehicles can be used as energy storage units and transfer power to the grid. The electric vehicles charge at night to reduce the cost and the grid load, simultaneously to fill the valley. When grid load increases, electric vehicles' batteries discharge to the grid to improve the stability of the grid. As distributed storage units, electric vehicles are important components of the smart grid. In this paper, the three-phase PWM (pulse width modulation) rectifier used for smart charging and discharging system of electric vehicles are analyzed and designed. This paper includes the principle of PWM rectifier-inverter and direct current control strategy. Also, the SVPWM (space vector pulse width modulation) and system design of three-phase PWM rectifiers are analyzed. A 10 kW prototype is developed. Simulation and experiment results show that the three-phase PWM rectifiers reach the unit power factor. From the experimental results, PWM rectifier implements the sinusoidal grid current and achieves the unit power factor.展开更多

To verify the validity of the analysis and the feasibility of the proposed control method a set of simulation tests have been conducted using Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show that compared to the conventional PI controller, the SMC can reduce drastically the three-level rectifier’s voltage fluctuation and improve the dynamic response of dc-bus significantly.展开更多

In order to verify the accuracy of this method, MATLAB/Simulink is used for simulation analysis. The simulation results show that the composite control can achieve the coordinated dynamic rapid tracking and constant DC output and unit power factor operation, and satisfy the control requirements of the rectifier, effectively reducing the disturbance effect on the system. Compared with Hamiltonian control, the proposed method combines the advantages of the two methods, which have the fast tracking performance and excellent steady-state characteristics, and the research prospect is broad.展开更多

There are two major problems existing in current-source multilevel inverters, one is the complex PWM control method (2-logic to 3-logic conversion), and the other is the problem of current-unbalance between different levels. A simple current-balance control method via DC current feedback is applied in each single-phase 5-level CSI cell to implement the current-balance control between different levels. In such application, the frequency of the signal in t...This paper presents a PFCVF (Power Factor Correction) rectifier that uses a variable frequency source for alternators for electric and hybrid vehicles application. In such application, the frequency of the signal in the alternator changes according to the vehicle speed, more over the loading effect on the alternator introduces harmonic currents and increases the alternator apparent power requirements. To overcome these problems and aiming more stability and better design of the alternator, a new third harmonic injection technique is proposed. This technique allows to preserve a good THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of the input source at any frequency and to decrease losses in semiconductors switches, thereby allowing more stability and reducing the apparent power requirements. A comparative study between the standard and the new technique is made and highlights the effectiveness of the new design. A detailed analysis of the proposed topology is presented and simulations as well as experimental results are shown.展开更多
