Finite element equations regarding generalized magneto-thermoelasticity problems with two relaxation times (i.e., the G-L theory) are derived using the principle of virtual work. For avoiding numerical complication involved in inverse Laplace and Fourier transformation and low precision thereof, the equations are solved directly in time-domain. As a numerical example, the derived equation is used to investigate the generalized magneto-thermoelastic behavior of a semi-infinite plate under magnetic field and subjecting to a thermal shock loading. The results demonstrate that FEM can faithfully predict the deformation of the plate and the induced magnetic field, and most importantly can reveal the sophisticated second sound effect of heat conduction in two-dimensional generalized thermoelastic solids, which is usually difficult to model by routine transformation methods. A peak can be observed in the distribution of stress and induced front and the magnitude of magnetic field at the heat wave the peak decreases with time, which can not be obtained by transformation methods. The new method can also be used to study generalized piezo-thermoelastic problems.展开更多

Simulation results show that the spectral linewidth of spontaneous Brillouin scattering remains almost constant when the laser linewidth is less than 1 MHz at the same pulse width; otherwise, it increases sharply. A comparison between a fiber laser (FL) with 4-kHz linewidth at 3 dB and a distributed feedback (DFB) laser with 3-MHz linewidth is made experimentally. When a constant laser power is launched into the sensing fiber, the fitting linewidths of the beat signals (backscattered Brillouin light and local oscillator (LO)) is about 5 MHz wider for the DFB laser than for the FL and the intensity of the beat signal is about a half. Furthermore, the frequency fluctuation in the long sensing fiber is lower for the FL source, yielding about 2 MHz less than that of the DFB laser, indicating higher temperature/strain resolution. The experimental results are in good agreement with the numerical simulations.展开更多

An efficient and accurate dynamic interaction numerical model in the time domain has become an important topic of current research. Based on the substructure technique, seismic excitation of the soil-structure system is represented by the free-field motion of an elastic half-space.To reduce the computational effort, the acceleration unit-impulse response function of the unbounded soil is decomposed into two functions:linear and residual. The latter converges to zero and can be truncated as required. The buoy's motion in time domain is determined for the case that the wave and mooring force are nonlinear. The Kotorayama's method of hydrodynamic effect in a single mooring chain is expanded to multi-mooring chains. The time history of drift motion of the mooring buoy in regular waves and wave groups is calculated. The relation between the drift motion and the wave height or difference frequency is discussed. It can be shown that the effect of the hydrodynamic force acting on the mooring chain has remarkable influence on the total drift motion of the mooring buoy. In a wave group, its amplitude is mainly controled by the wave height and has little relation with difference frequency.展开更多

A method of photon counts modulation optics time domain reflection with single photon detection at 1.55 μm is presented. The influence of quantum fluctuation can be effectively controlled by demodulation technology since quantum fluctuation shows a uniform distribution in the frequency domain. Combined with the changing of the integration time of the lock-in amplifier, the signal to noise ratio is significantly enhanced. Accordingly the signal to noise improvement ratio reaches 31.7 dB compared with the direct photon counting measurement.展开更多

文摘The blade frequency noise of non-cavitation propeller in a uniform flow is analyzed in time domain. The unsteady loading (dipole source) on the blade surface is calculated by a potential-based surface panel method. Then the time- dependent pressure data is used as the input for Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings formulation to predict the acoustics pressure. The integration of noise source is performed over the true blade surface rather than the nothickness blade surface, and the effect of hub can be considered. The noise characteristics of the non-cavitation propeller and the numerical discretization forms are discussed.

文摘Time domain averaging(TDA) is essentially a comb filter,it cannot extract the specified harmonics which may be caused by some faults, such as gear eccentric.Meanwhile,TDA always suffers from period cutting error(PCE) to different extent.Several improved TDA methods have been proposed, however they cannot completely eliminate the waveform reconstruction error caused by PCE.In order to overcome the shortcomings of conventional methods,a flexible time domain averaging(FTDA) technique is established, which adapts to the analyzed signal through adjusting each harmonic of the comb filter. In this technique, the explicit form of FTDA is first constructed by frequency domain sampling.Subsequently, chirp Z-transform(CZT) is employed in the algorithm of FTDA,which can improve the calculating efficiency significantly.Since the signal is reconstructed in the continuous time domain, there is no PCE in the FTDA.To validate the effectiveness of FTDA in the signal de-noising,interpolation and harmonic reconstruction,a simulated multi-components periodic signal that corrupted by noise is processed by FTDA.The simulation results show that the FTDA is capable of recovering the periodic components from the background noise effectively. Moreover,it can improve the signal-to-noise ratio by 7.9 dB compared with conventional ones.Experiments are also carried out on gearbox test rigs with chipped tooth and eccentricity gear, respectively. It is shown that the FTDA can identify the direction and severity of the eccentricity gear, and further enhances the amplitudes of impulses by 35%.The proposed technique not only solves the problem of PCE,but also provides a useful tool for the fault symptom extraction of rotating machinery.
文摘This paper deals with the nonlinear effect of the drift motion of multi-chain mooring buoys. In a wave group, its amplitude is mainly controled by the wave height and has little relation with difference frequency.

文摘The quantum fluctuation of photon counting limits the field application of optical time domain reflection. Accordingly the signal to noise improvement ratio reaches 31.7 dB compared with the direct photon counting measurement.
