HLLG-122. Compound 1 was a novel berkeleyacetal-derived meroterpenoid featuring an unusual spirocyclic 2-oxaspiro[5.5]undeca-4,7-dien-3-one moiety. Compound 2 possessed an unusual 6/6/6/6/6 pentacyclic system with a novel 1-hydroxy-7,7-dimethyl-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-5-yl acetate moiety. Compound 3 was an unusual 6/7/6/5/6/5/4 polycyclic systems containing a β-lactone ring. The structures and absolute configurations of new compounds were elucidated by HRESIMS, NMR spectroscopy, single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, and electronic circular dichroism calculations. The plausible biosynthetic pathways of 1—3 were also proposed. Compounds 6 and 11 exhibited anti-inflammatory effects with IC_(50) values of 30.41 and 19.02 μmol/L, respectively. The bioactive compound 11 was selected for the investigation of preliminary mechanism using molecular docking and Western blotting experiments. Compound 11 could suppress the levels of TNF-α and IL-6, and down-regulate the protein expression of iNOS and COX-2 in RAW 264.7 cells.展开更多

Droughts, floods, and hurricanes are all natural disasters that jeopardize the environment and the lives of Somalis. Severe floods have devastated the south and central parts of the country multiple times, destroying infrastructure and homes and killing many vulnerable people. Droughts in the south and central parts of the country, particularly in the Middle Shebelle region, have killed a number of children and mothers. It also had a negative influence on crops and cattle. Objective of this study is to know the recurrence of Natural Disasters in Jowhar, Middle Shabelle region, Somalia: The Causes and Impacts. The Somali people are completely aware of natural disasters such as droughts and floods, and they are self-sufficient in dealing with the consequences of these disasters. Furthermore, the Somali government has not fully created environmental laws to protect and conserve the environment, and the majority of laws, rules, acts, and regulations are not used or administered effectively. We also found that the Somali government is not yet financially prepared to deal with these crises, and that there are no strategic plans in the central government or even state administrations to prevent or at least control these disasters from causing extreme harm to the community and the environment.展开更多

In this behavioral genetic study on conformity,we designed a social episode to investigate the genetic and environmental origin of individual differences in conforming behavior during psychosocial development.Specifically,107 monozygotic(MZ) and 74 dizygotic(DZ) twin pairs(age 7-19) were asked to choose a pen from a group of pens either with the majority color or with the minority color. We found that the resemblance between MZ twins in selecting the pen with the majority color was not significantly higher than that between DZ twins, suggesting that individual differences in conformity are due almost exclusively to the environment. Moreover, biometric model fitting revealed that the shared environmental component played a sizable role in shaping individuals' conforming behavior, and the influence increased with age(from 16% to 26%).Taken together, our study suggests that the common family and cultural environment has important ramifications for conformity.展开更多
