Unsupervised multi-modal image translation based on the squeeze-and-excitation mechanism and feature attention module

The unsupervised multi-modal image translation is an emerging domain of computer vision whose goal is to transform an image from the source domain into many diverse styles in the target domain.However,the multi-generator mechanism is employed among the advanced approaches available to model different domain mappings,which results in inefficient training of neural networks and pattern collapse,leading to inefficient generation of image diversity.To address this issue,this paper introduces a multi-modal unsupervised image translation framework that uses a generator to perform multi-modal image translation.Specifically,firstly,the domain code is introduced in this paper to explicitly control the different generation tasks.Secondly,this paper brings in the squeeze-and-excitation(SE)mechanism and feature attention(FA)module.Finally,the model integrates multiple optimization objectives to ensure efficient multi-modal translation.This paper performs qualitative and quantitative experiments on multiple non-paired benchmark image translation datasets while demonstrating the benefits of the proposed method over existing technologies.Overall,experimental results have shown that the proposed method is versatile and scalable.

Effective extraction of polyribosomes from astrocytes enables future discoveries on translation regulation

Translation regulation is an important layer of gene expression:Generation of genome-wide expression datasets at multi-omics levels in spatial,temporal,and cell-type resolution is essential for deciphering brain complexity.Regulation of gene expression is a highly dynamic process aiming at the production of precise levels of gene products to guarantee optimal cellular function,in response to physiological cues.Speedy advances in next-generation sequencing enabled the understanding of epigenomic and transcriptomic dynamic landscapes of different brain regions along development,aging,and disease progression.However,the correlation of the“transcriptome”with protein levels is poor because numerous mRNAs are subjected to manipulation of their translation efficiency,to warrant a favorable result under certain conditions.Hence,it is widely accepted that regulation at the translation level is a vital layer of gene expression.Quantification of actively translated mRNA populations(i.e.,“translatome”)is a more reliable predictor of the“proteome”(Wang et al.,2020).

Tentative Research on the Realization of Euphemisms in E-C/C-E Translation

There are many euphemisms in both English and Chinese languages,the usage of euphemism is determined by the culture in which it exists.It is very difficult to realize the acceptable translation of euphemisms in cross cultural communication,for the reason that differences and similarities are existing between Chinese and English euphemisms.This paper aims to explore on how to realization of the translation of euphemisms in the E-C/C-E translation work.

On the Translation of Reduplicative Words in Chinese Form AABB——Analysis of Examples from Zhang Pei-ji's Selected Modern Chinese Essays 1-4

The reduplicative Chinese words in type AABB is a very special form in Chinese language, which is worth researching and analyzing. Through plenty of examples cited in the translation from Chinese to English by the translator Zhang Pei-ji in the four volumes of his translation works, the writer analyzes the phenomenon of translating AABB reduplicative words through examples collected manually in order to summarize the basic rules and principles in doing translation like this. The paper might be useful and helpful in researching translation and Chinese.

Type Synthesis Method for the Translational Decoupled Parallel Mechanism Based on Screw Theory

Coupling is the significant characteristic of parallel mechanism,while it is just the coupling that brings about much difficulty for the configuration design,theoretical analysis and the development of the control system of the parallel mechanism. And recently,the research on the decoupled parallel mechanism becomes one of the research hot points in the mechanism fields. In this paper,a type synthesis method for the translational decoupled parallel mechanism( TDPM) is proposed based on the screw theory. To achieve the decoupling characteristics of the translational parallel mechanism,the translational decoupled criterion for type synthesis of the branches are presented in this paper. According to this criterion and the realization conditions of rotational degree of freedom of the mechanism proposed former,a large number of branches for the TDPM are obtained. Taking the three degrees of freedom( DOFs) TDPM as an example,the process of type synthesis is discussed in detail. Using this proposed type synthesis method,a serial of translational decoupled parallel mechanisms, including but not limited to all the existing typical 3-DOF TDPMs, are obtained, which identifies the correctness and effective of the method. The contents of this paper provide a reference and possess significant theoretical meanings for the synthesis and development of the novel decoupled parallel mechanisms.

Workspace of Translation 3-UPU Parallel Manipulators

To determine workspace and relationship between the workspace and geometry of parallel manipulator is important for optimum design of parallel manipulators. In this paper, the workspace and the relationship between the workspace and the geometry of 3-UPU parallel manipulators with pure translation are investigated. Geometric and non-geometric constraints are defined and taken account of in determining the workspace of the translation 3-UPU manipulators. A direct average condition number is used as the global performance index of the workspace. This research shows that there exists an optimal value of the direct average condition number favorable for a good design of parallel mechanisms. The results presented in this paper are useful for the optimum design of 3-UPU parallel manipulators.

Upper bound analysis for deep tunnel face with joined failure mechanism of translation and rotation

A joined failure mechanism of translation and rotation was proposed for the stability analysis of deep tunnel face, and the upper bound solution of supporting force of deep tunnel was calculated under pore water pressure. The calculations were based on limit analysis method of upper bound theory, with the employment of non-associated Mohr-Coulomb flow rule. Nonlinear failure criterion was adopted. Optimized analysis was conducted for the effects of the tunnel depth, pore water pressure coefficient, the initial cohesive force and nonlinear coefficient on supporting force. The upper bound solutions are obtained by optimum method. Results are listed and compared with the previously published solutions for the verification of correctness and effectiveness. The failure shapes are presented, and results are discussed for different pore water pressure coefficients and nonlinear coefficients of tunnel face.

Internal Force Analysis Due to the Supporting Translation in Statically (Indeterminate) Structures for Different Elastic Modulus

For statically indeterminate structure, the internal force will be changed with the translation of the supports, because the internal force is related to the absolute value of the stiffness EI. When the tension is different with the compression modulus, EI is the function of internal force and is not constant any more that is different from classic mechanics. In the other words, it is a nonlinear problem to calculate the internal force. The expression for neutral axis of the statically indeterminate structure was derived in the paper. The iterative program for nonlinear internal force was compiled. One case study was presented to illustrate the difference between the results using the different modulus theory and the single modulus theory as in classical mechanics. Finally, some reasonable suggestions were made for the different modulus structures.

RNPS1 stabilizes NAT10 protein to facilitate translation in cancer via tRNA ac^(4)C modification

Existing studies have underscored the pivotal role of N-acetyltransferase 10(NAT10) in various cancers. However, the outcomes of protein-protein interactions between NAT10 and its protein partners in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC) remain unexplored. In this study, we identified a significant upregulation of RNA-binding protein with serine-rich domain 1(RNPS1) in HNSCC, where RNPS1 inhibits the ubiquitination degradation of NAT10 by E3 ubiquitin ligase, zinc finger SWIM domain-containing protein 6(ZSWIM6), through direct protein interaction, thereby promoting high NAT10 expression in HNSCC. This upregulated NAT10 stability mediates the enhancement of specific tRNA ac^(4)C modifications, subsequently boosting the translation process of genes involved in pathways such as IL-6 signaling, IL-8 signaling, and PTEN signaling that play roles in regulating HNSCC malignant progression, ultimately influencing the survival and prognosis of HNSCC patients. Additionally, we pioneered the development of TRMC-seq, leading to the discovery of novel t RNA-ac^(4)C modification sites, thereby providing a potent sequencing tool for tRNAac^(4)C research. Our findings expand the repertoire of tRNA ac^(4)C modifications and identify a role of tRNA ac^(4)C in the regulation of mRNA translation in HNSCC.

The Status Quo and Solutions of Translation on Five-ShuPionts of Acu⁃ puncture and Moxibustion from the Perspective of Skopos Theory in Last 30 Years

The standardization of the terminology of TCM,especially acupuncture point,is the basis and prerequisite for the modernization internationalization of TCM.In order to meet the needs of TCM academic exchanges,communication and teaching,this basic work is very urgent and significant.The research about acupuncture terminology translation process TCM for nearly 30 years in our country is of great significance to the translation for today's acupuncture points.According to the widely collecting relevant materials at home and abroad,we summarized the characteristics of the term translation and standardization of TCM acupuncture in various periods and tries to analyze the difficulty for the conduct of TCM terms and the reasons by using translation,linguistics and research methods,and put forward a solution to handle the problems which happened in the process of terminology translation.

REPRESENTATION OF GENERALIZED TRANSLATIONS OF THE PRODUCT OF TWO FUNCTIONS ON SIGNED HYPERGROUPS ON THE REAL LINE

In this paper, we consider the generalized translations associated with the Dunkl and the Jacobi-Dunkl differential-difference operators on the real line which provide the structure of signed hrpergroups on R. Especially, we study the representation of the gener- alized translations of the product of two functions for these signed hypergroups.

Type Synthesis of Fully Decoupled Three Translational Parallel Mechanism with Closed-Loop Units and High Stifness

In order to solve the problem of weak stifness of the existing fully decoupled parallel mechanism, a new synthesis method of fully decoupled three translational (3T) parallel mechanisms (PMs) with closed-loop units and high stifness is proposed based on screw theory. Firstly, a new criterion for the full decoupled of PMs is presented that the reciprocal product of the transmission wrench screw matrix and the output twist screw matrix of PMs is a diagonal matrix, and all elements on the main diagonal are nonzero constants. The forms of the transmission wrench screws are determined by the criterion. Secondly, the forms of the actuated and unactuated screws can be obtained according to their relationships with the transmission wrench screws. The basic decoupled limbs are generated by combination of the above actuated and unactuated screws. Finally, a closed-loop units construction method is investigated to apply the decoupled mechanisms in a better way on the high stifness occasion. The closed-loop units are constructed in the basic decoupled limbs to generate a high-stifness fully decoupled 3T PM. Kinematic and stifness analyses show that the Jacobian matrix is a diagonal matrix, and the stifness is obviously higher than that of the coupling mechanisms, which verifes the correctness of the proposed synthesis method. The mechanism synthesized by this method has a good application prospect in vehicle durability test platform.

Orbifold Fundamental Group and Deck Translation Group

In this paper, we define the notions of orbifold loop and orbifold road, with which, we reformulate the definition of orbifold fundamental group and deck translation group. We show that, for each orbifold, the orbifold fundamental group is isomorphic to the deck translation group.

In this paper, we obtain some characterizations of the translational hull of strongly inverse wrpp semigroups. And we prove that the translational hull of a strongly inverse wrpp semigroup is still of the same type.

A Study on Fang Zhong’s Translation of Tao Yuan-Ming’s Poems from the Perspective of Supermemes of Translation

In the background of different language among different countries, a good translation becomes important when wecommunicate with foreigners and at the same time, some theories are concerned by the translators and learners oftranslation. This paper is to describe Fang Zhong’s translation version of Tao Yuan-Ming’s poems, themasterpieces favored by the public, using supermemes as follows: Source-target, the equivalence, untranslatability,Free-vs-literal, all-writing-is-translating, which are the inheritance and deepening of memes of translation, whichnaturally promotes cultural communication and mutual understanding among countries.

The Translation Strategies of Chinese Reduplicated Words From a Skopos Theory Perspective

This paper explores the translation strategies for Chinese reduplication to English from the perspective of Skopos theory. Drawing on previous research on the semantic functions of reduplication, the paper analyzes the three main types of semantic changes in Chinese reduplicated words: intensification of meaning, moderation of meaning, and addition of meaning. The paper then proposes different translation strategies for Chinese reduplication, including same-word repetition, near-synonym repetition, “have a try” form, “noun(pl.) + of” form, and “all”, “each”, and “every” pattern. Finally, the paper emphasizes the importance of understanding the intended communicative function of the reduplicated words and the need for flexible handling in order to achieve a natural translation with better readability.

A Stylistic Perspective on Translation of Reduplicated Words in Classical Chinese Poetry

Chinese poetry has a very long and remarkable history.It is one of the most important representatives of China's ancient civilization of 5000 years.Chinese poetry utilizes quite a large number of methods in order to be more melodious and charming.Reduplicated words,as a figure of speech,are one of the most frequently used form among them.Reduplicated words as an active rhetorical device can add more flavor and taste to poems.They have the advantages of expressing the stylistic beauty effectively in form,sound and sense,thus push the article to its topmost aesthetic beauty.This paper,from a stylistic perspective,first discusses and argues the translatability of reduplicated words and then the importance to maintain the style of reduplicated words.After that it tries hard to put forward some favorable ways of dealing with the translation of reduplicated words so that reduplicated words in classical Chinese poetry can be appropriately translated without damage to the original style and flavor.
