The aim of this study is to define optimal tooth modifications, introduced by appropriately chosen head-cutter geometry and machine tool setting, to simultaneously minimize tooth contact pressure and angular displacement error of the driven gear (transmission error) of face-hobbed spiral bevel gears. As a result of these modifications, the gear pair becomes mismatched, and a point contact replaces the theoretical line contact. In the applied loaded tooth contact analysis it is assumed that the point contact under load is spreading over a surface along the whole or part of the ‘‘potential’’ contact line. A computer program was developed to implement the formulation provided above. By using this program the influence of tooth modifications introduced by the variation in machine tool settings and in head cutter data on load and pressure distributions, transmission errors, and fillet stresses is investigated and discussed. The correlation between the ease-off obtained by pinion tooth modifications and the corresponding tooth contact pressure distribution is investigated and the obtained results are presented. 展开更多

Transmission error(TE)in geared rotors is a predominant source of inherent excitation at the pitch point of the gear meshing. In this paper,a transverse vibration analysis is presented to study the effect of TE on geared rotors.Due to asymmetry in the TE,it is expected to have both forward and backward whirls excited during rotor whirling, which could be used for its detection. This aspect has been envisioned first time in the present work.To capture this,an approach of orienting the line of action of a gear-pair along oblique plane is considered and the mathematical modeling has been performed of a simple spur gear-pair connecting two parallel shafts at its mid-span with an asymmetric TE.To capture the forward and backward whirls, equations of motion are converted into a complex form that facilitates obtaining response in full spectrum. The response of system model with assumed transmission error and gear-pair parameters has been obtained through a numerical simulation, which shows distinctly the forward and backward whirls due to the TE.Through a simple test rig experimentation,a similar behaviour was observed in transverse vibrations of geared rotors in the full spectrum, which validate the proposed model. 展开更多

Time?varying mesh stiffness(TVMS) and gear errors include short?term and long?term components are the two main internal dynamic excitations for gear transmission. The coupling relationship between the two factors is usually neglected in the traditional quasi-static and dynamic behaviors analysis of gear system. This paper investigates the influence of short?term and long?term components of manufacturing errors on quasi?static and dynamic behaviors of helical gear system considering the coupling relationship between TVMS and gear errors. The TVMS, loaded static transmission error(LSTE) and loaded composite mesh error(LCMS) are determined using an improved loaded tooth contact analysis(LTCA) model. Considering the structure of shaft, as well as the direction of power flow and bearing location, a precise generalized finite element dynamic model of helical gear system is developed, and the dynamic responses of the system are obtained by numerical integration method. The results suggest that lighter loading conditions result in smaller mesh stiffness and stronger vibration, and the corresponding resonance speeds of the system become lower. Long?term components of manufacturing errors lead to the appearance of sideband frequency components in frequency spectrum of dynamic responses. The sideband frequency components are predominant under light loading conditions. With the increase of output torque, the mesh frequency and its harmonics components tend to be enhanced relative to sideband frequency components. This study can provide effective reference for low noise design of gear transmission. 展开更多

Chain drive system is widely used in the conditions of high-speed, overload, variable speed and load, Many studies are focused on the meshing theory and wear characteristics of chain drive system, but system design, analysis, and noise characteristics of the chain drive system are weak. System design and noise characteristic are studied for a new type Gemini chain of dual-clutch automatic transmission. Based on the meshing theory of silent chain, the design parameters of the Gemini chain system are calculated and the mathematical models and dynamic analysis models of the Gemini chain system are established. Dynamic characteristics of the Gemini chain system is simulated and the contact force of plate and pin, plate and sprockets, the chain tension forces, the transmission error and the stress of plates and pins are analyzed. According to the simulation results of the Gemini chain system, the noise experiment about system is carried out. The noise values are tested at different speed and load and spectral characteristics are analyzed. The results of simulation and experimental show that the contact forces of plate and pin, plate and sprockets are smaller than the allowable stress values, the chain tension force is less than ultimate tension and transmission error is limited in 1.2%. The noise values can meet the requirements of industrial design, and it is proved that the design and analysis method of the Gemini chain system is scientific and feasible. The design and test system is built from analysis to test of Gemini chain system. This research presented will provide a corresponding theoretical guidance for the design and dynamic characteristics and noise characteristics of chain drive system. 展开更多

Aviation spiral bevel gears are often generated by spiral generated modified(SGM) roll method. In this style, pinion tooth surface modified generation strategy has an important influence on the meshing and contact performances. For the optimal contact pattern and transmission error function, local synthesis is applied to obtain the machine-tool settings of pinion. For digitized machine, four tooth surface generation styles of pinion are proposed. For every style, tooth contact analysis(TCA) is applied to obtain contact pattern and transmission error function. For the difference between TCA transmission error function and design objective curve, the degree of symmetry and agreement are defined and the corresponding sub-objective functions are established.Linear weighted combination method is applied to get an equivalent objective function to evaluate the shape of transmission error function. The computer programs for the process above are developed to analyze the meshing performances of the four pinion tooth surface generation styles for a pair of aviation spiral bevel gears with 38/43 teeth numbers. The four analytical results are compared with each other and show that the incomplete modified roll is optimal for this gear pair. This study is an expansion to generation strategy of spiral bevel gears, and offers new alternatives to computer numerical control(CNC) manufacture of spiral bevel gears. 展开更多

Feedback control systems wherein the control loops are closed through a real-time network are called networked control systems (NCSs). The limitation of communication bandwidth results in transport delay, affects the property of real-time system, and degrades the performance of NCSs. An integrated control and scheduling optimization method using genetic algorithm is proposed in this paper. This method can synchronously optimize network scheduling and improve the performance of NCSs. To illustrate its effectiveness, an example is provided. 展开更多

Gear wear is one of the most common gear failures, which changes the mesh relationship of normal gear.A new mesh relationship caused by gear wear affects meshing excitations, such as mesh stiffness and transmission error, and further increases vibration and noise level. This paper aims to establish the model of mesh relationship and reveal the vibration characteristics of external spur gears with gear wear.A geometric model for a new mesh relationship with gear wear is proposed, which is utilized to evaluate the influence of gear wear on mesh stiffness and unloaded static transmission error(USTE).Based on the mesh stiffness and USTE considering gear wear,a gear dynamic model is established, and the vibration characteristics of gear wear are numerically studied.Comparison with the experimental results verifies the proposed dynamic model based on the new mesh relationship. The numerical and experimental results indicate that gear wear does not change the structure of the spectrum, but it alters the amplitude of the meshing frequencies and their sidebands.Several condition indicators, such as root-mean-square,kurtosis,and first-order meshing frequency amplitude, can be regarded as important bases for judging gear wear state. 展开更多
