A Josephson traveling wave parametric amplifier(JTWPA),which is a quantum-limited amplifier with high gain and large bandwidth,is the core device of large-scale measurement and control systems for quantum computing.A typical JTWPA consists of thousands of Josephson junctions connected in series to form a transmission line and hundreds of shunt LC resonators periodically loaded along the line for phase matching.Because the variation of these capacitors and inductors can be detrimental to their high-frequency characteristics,the fabrication of a JTWPA typically necessitates precise processing equipment.To guide the fabrication process and further improve the design for manufacturability,it is necessary to understand how each electronic component affects the amplifier.In this paper,we use the harmonic balance method to conduct a comprehensive study on the impact of nonuniformity and fabrication yield of the electronic components on the performance of a JTWPA.The results provide insightful and scientific guidance for device design and fabrication processes. 展开更多

The hybrid dc circuit breaker(HCB)has the advantages of fast action speed and low operating loss,which is an idealmethod for fault isolation ofmulti-terminal dc grids.Formulti-terminal dc grids that transmit power through overhead lines,HCBs are required to have reclosing capability due to the high fault probability and the fact that most of the faults are temporary faults.To avoid the secondary fault strike and equipment damage that may be caused by the reclosing of the HCB when the permanent fault occurs,an adaptive reclosing scheme based on traveling wave injection is proposed in this paper.The scheme injects traveling wave signal into the fault dc line through the additionally configured auxiliary discharge branch in the HCB,and then uses the reflection characteristic of the traveling wave signal on the dc line to identify temporary and permanent faults,to be able to realize fast reclosing when the temporary fault occurs and reliably avoid reclosing after the permanent fault occurs.The test results in the simulation model of the four-terminal dc grid show that the proposed adaptive reclosing scheme can quickly and reliably identify temporary and permanent faults,greatly shorten the power outage time of temporary faults.In addition,it has the advantages of easiness to implement,high reliability,robustness to high-resistance fault and no dead zone,etc. 展开更多

In this work, we focus on the inverse problem of determining the parameters in a partial differential equation from given numerical solutions. For this purpose, we consider a modified Fisher’s equation that includes a relaxation time in relating the flux to the gradient of the density and an added cubic non-linearity. We show that such equations still possess traveling wave solutions by using standard methods for nonlinear dynamical systems in which fixed points in the phase plane are found and their stability characteristics are classified. A heteroclinic orbit in the phase plane connecting a saddle point to a node represents the traveling wave solution. We then design parameter estimation/discovery algorithms for this system including a few based on machine learning methods and compare their performance. 展开更多

Exact Traveling Wave Solutions of the Generalized Fractional Differential mBBM Equation

By using the fractional complex transform and the bifurcation theory to the generalized fractional differential mBBM equation, we first transform this fractional equation into a plane dynamic system, and then find its equilibrium points and first integral. Based on this, the phase portraits of the corresponding plane dynamic system are given. According to the phase diagram characteristics of the dynamic system, the periodic solution corresponds to the limit cycle or periodic closed orbit. Therefore, according to the phase portraits and the properties of elliptic functions, we obtain exact explicit parametric expressions of smooth periodic wave solutions. A double cylinders type traveling wave ultrasonic motor using composite transducer was proposed.The proposed stator contained two cylinders and one composite transducer,and the transducer located on the outer surfaces of cylinders.The composite transducer included two exponential horns located on leading ends,and the horns insected with the cylinders at tip ends.Two degenerated flexural vibration modes spatially and temporally orthogonal to each other were excited in each cylinder by the composite transducer.In this new design,a single transducer could excite two flexural traveling waves in the cylinders.Thus,elliptical motions were achieved at the particles on the teeth.The working principle of the proposed motor was analyzed.The cylinder and transducer were designed with FEM.The resonant frequencies of two vibration modals of the stator were tuned to be the same,and the motion trajectories of nodes on the teeth were analyzed.Transient analysis results show that the motion trajectories of teeth are ellipses.The results of this paper can guide the development of this new type of ultrasonic motor. 展开更多

Most of traditional traveling wave piezoelectric transducers are driven by two phase different excitation signals,leading to a complex control system and seriously limiting their applications in industry.To overcome these issues,a novel traveling wave sandwich piezoelectric transducer with a single-phase drive is proposed in this study.Traveling waves are produced in two driving rings of the transducer while the longitudinal vibration is excited in its sandwich composite beam,due to the coupling property of the combined structure.This results in the production of elliptical motions in the two driving rings to achieve the drive function.An analytical model is firstly developed using the transfer matrix method to analyze the dynamic behavior of the proposed transducer.Its vibration characteristics are measured and compared with computational results to validate the effectiveness of the proposed analytical model.Besides,the driving concept of the transducer is investigated by computing the motion trajectory of surface points of the driving ring and the quality of traveling wave of the driving ring.Additionally,application example investigations on the driving effect of the proposed transducer are carried out by constructing and assembling a tracked mobile system.Experimental results indicated that 1)the assembled tracked mobile system moved in the driving frequency of 19410 Hz corresponding to its maximum mean velocity through frequency sensitivity experiments;2)motion characteristic and traction performance measurements of the system prototype presented its maximum mean velocity with 59 mm/s and its maximum stalling traction force with 1.65 N,at the excitation voltage of 500 V_(RMS).These experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed traveling wave sandwich piezoelectric transducer. 展开更多

This article is concerned with the existence of traveling wave solutions for a discrete diffusive ratio-dependent predator-prey model. By applying Schauder’s fixed point theorem with the help of suitable upper and lower solutions, we prove that there exists a positive constant c* such that when c > c* , the discrete diffusive predator-prey system admits an invasion traveling wave. The existence of an invasion traveling wave with c = c* is also established by a limiting argument and a delicate analysis of the boundary conditions.Finally, by the asymptotic spreading theory and the comparison principle, the non-existence of invasion traveling waves with speed c < c* is also proved. 展开更多

The vibration suppression of the finite plate with square steel beams is studied using traveling wave method. The finite plate with square beams is modeled as the coupling systems between the plate flexural motion and the flexural and torsional motions for the square beams. The vibration response at any position of the coupling structure can be obtained by wave method. Numerical results show that comparing to finite element method (FEM), not only the low frequency but also the medium-high frequency vibration response of the finite plate with square beam can be effectively calculated by wave method. The suppression effect can be increased as the square beam is located at one-third of the length of plate or increasing the height of the beam. The study provides reference for arranged square beams applying to vibration suppression of ship and train structures. 展开更多

We study the traveling wave and other solutions of the perturbed Kaup-Newell Schrodinger dynamical equation that signifies long waves parallel to the magnetic field.The wave solutions such as bright-dark(solitons),solitary waves,periodic and other wave solutions of the perturbed Kaup-Newell Schrodinger equation in mathematical physics are achieved by utilizing two mathematical techniques,namely,the extended F-expansion technique and the proposed exp(-φ(ξ))-expansion technique.This dynamical model describes propagation of pluses in optical fibers and can be observed as a special case of the generalized higher order nonlinear Schrodinger equation.In engineering and applied physics,these wave results have key applications.Graphically,the structures of some solutions are presented by giving specific values to parameters.By using modulation instability analysis,the stability of the model is tested,which shows that the model is stable and the solutions are exact.These techniques can be fruitfully employed to further sculpt models that arise in mathematical physics. 展开更多

A highly sophisticated power supply is required by TWT. In order to meet the severe requirements of Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier(TWTA), a novel two-stage topology high voltage converter for TWTA is proposed.The converter is based on Zero-Voltage Switching and Zero-Current Switching(ZVS/ZCS) resonant techniques. The high voltage converter operation principles are investigated and major features of the converter are discussed. The power switching mode of ZVS/ZCS is obtained. The experimental results show that the converter has good soft switching characteristics. Compared to the conventional hard switched Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) techniques, the high efficiency and low ripple of the converter for TWTA are realized. The efficiency of High Voltage Electronic Power Conditioners(HV-EPC) over 93.5% under the condition of 38~46 V input voltage and 260~300 W input power. The switching frequency of first-stage(preregulator) of HV-EPC is 89 k Hz and the switching frequency of second-stage(postregulator) is 44.5 k Hz. The highest output voltage of the HV-EPC is helix voltage which is about –6.8 kV. It is especially suitable for TWTA utilized in space satellite applications due to its high switching frequency and high power density. 展开更多
